What you said about everything feeling just so right on the car is spot on. First time I drove my 997 I was amazed by how everything worked exactly as you’d expect; the clutch, the gears, the steering, power delivery.. it felt like I’ve been driving it for years despite spending no more than 10 minutes behind the wheel. The amount of engineering to make it drive like that is something I’ve never experienced. Porsche is really just on another level.
I have a feeling the only reason you still have the STI is to keep your UA-cam audience happy. I’ve been stuck in this mindset for a while but ultimately decided to go with something I love as opposed to people on UA-cam.
Believe it or not, that’s not the reason. I truly do not base my decisions in life off of what others tell me what’s right or wrong. I sincerely love the car and have a strong connection with it.
I’m not sure I’d trade my STi for a 911. I can do the maintenance myself on the STi and I can mod to my hearts desire. I also love the raw and simplistic nature of it. The 911 is just an engineering masterpiece, though; way more refined.
Many 911 owners do their own maintenance. I’ve done the major and minor services on my Carrera T. You shouldn’t let that stuff scare you away from owning an amazing car like this.
I am a proud owner of s209 and a 987.2 boxster s, I love owning both Subaru and Porsche vehicles! The s209 is a perfect car for the track with its exceptional handling, and the 987.2 boxster s has such a great analog feel with it's hydraulic steering, and with both frunk and trunk it is quite practical. It is also a great car when the weather is nice and you just want the top down. Overall, I love both cars and think my garage is looking quite complete with the s209 and boxster. Great choice on the 911!
It's weird to see you do Porsche content lol. Afterall every one of us are so used to seeing you doing STI content. Seeing you with lots of excitement and being so passionate with the Porsche, why not. Go with it. You only live once. Either a Porsche whichever model you have decided on, it's still good. M2 competition is also a great car consideration. At the end of the day, if you could get a nice sport car, nice sport car it is.
Take it from someone who has owned multiple, unique cars that I wished I never got rid of. Keep the STI and save up for the Carrera T... have both cars. The STI will be going away, just like most all ICE cars. Cars like the STI, Z06's, GT500 will become very special in these years to come.
It's like you've tailor made this video for me. I've sold my STI and picked up a 991.2 C4S. Definitely bittersweet to see the STI go (2006 blue/gold), but the Porsche is a massive upgrade. I thought my STI handled like a go-kart with all of the suspension and stiffening mods I'd done over the years, but the Porsche handling just blows it out the water. The turbo motor has serious balls and will press you into the seat while putting a massive smile on your face! I've since flashed the ECU on mine so I'm running about 520HP. Highly recommend a 991.2! All of the kids in the comments recommending an M2 have clearly never driven a 911 :)
I’m super jealous! I currently have a Mk7.5R Stage 1+ as my daily driver, which is great. I also had an E39 540i in my younger days, which was a great highway car but rather heavy and an absolute money pit out of warranty 💰 I really like his current F80 M3, but my true realistic dream car is a 991.2 GTS. Hopefully I can make that a retirement gift for myself when the time comes 🤞
I love that you drove your buddy's car barefoot 💀. Also I used to be in a position where I wanted you to keep the STi, but I now think its a good idea to finally move on. You have definitely been tossing the idea for a long while now. It would be interesting to see your take/style on a higher end luxury car. Would be cool to see a more tuner style on these cars instead of the regulars stock Porches I see around all the time.
My dad sold his brand new RAM and bought a nice used 2012 gmc. Then he bought a beautiful c7 corvette. Just an idea that you don’t need a $90 000 truck and you could buy really cool car.
The LSD in the T is another item not available in the Carrera or S, it’s a mechanical LSD same used in the GT3. Likewise, the shifter is the same used in the GT4.
I upgraded to Endless MX72 pads on my T and even those don’t make so much noise. If that’s the factory Porsche pad then the sound may be from material build up on the rotors and the pads may need to be bedded in again. That amount of brake squeal is what I expect from a track pad.
Wonderful, this Porsche. Usually I don't urge anyone to drive barefoot (unless I see that this is usual for those who drive). In this case, I see that you, as well as other Porsche owners, use to drive barefoot. In my experience, barefoot you drive much better, for a fact of total sensitivity on the pedals. It may seem strange but, bare feet give a lot more grip on the pedals, even compared to some shoes. Do you usually drive barefoot?
Maann it would be awesome to see you build a porsche or any other with the same dedication you built the sti, plus I think you could sell the sti for way over 50k and you could make your channel grow getting another platform
😢 I never got the chance to have the money to try. Being disabled at an early age took my dreams away. I was born to drive but fate had other plans... a curved spine and no way to make enough money. Now I'm 41 and put more miles on my wheelchair than my car.
Ah, missed that, I stopped just before the conclusion when an ad popped up. Went back in and saw the late mention. Would be interesting to know what Jeff did to the car.@@Scoobyfreak86
I feel you you but I have an RA so ima keep mine. And try to get a Porsche also.😂 but your like me I have a SUV for the family. Me being you hold off put cheddar away for a down along with the trade in for the subie for the Porsche. We living in good times right now. These cars won’t be around in twenty or so years.
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks for the reply, I just saw your other vid detailing the specs. The lowered stance makes the wheels look larger! Any idea what that oak green wrap cost all in?
@@Scoobyfreak86 nice PTS color wrap then lol. What’s the base color? Door jams done too? I’m looking at doing the same. Is any base color exposed when the wing comes up? Such a nice ride 👍🏻
Base color is white. Yes door jams were done as well. He actually got it all redone not too long ago with a different shade of green. Check out his Instagram @burnurass
Porsche is like the 3rd most reliable brand out there, and definitely the most reliable sports/luxury brand. The 991.2 911 was actually JD Powers *most* reliable car of 2020.

Why?

GREAT review, thanks for posting
Nice review. Gorgeous car.
( and refreshing to see someone that knows the bill of a baseball cap goes in front ! )
A Cayman/911 definitely seems like the natural progression for WRX/STI owners

It is on track pads, as mentioned in the video.
STI Forever !
It just makes sense to upgrade to a Porsche from the STi. That said, low key sad that the STi might be going away.
The cupholder! Where did yo get that?

Im not sure your budget, but investing a little bit more in a cayman to get a gt4 over a gts is the move for sure
Gt4’s are around 120 right now. A gts is around 60-70. Pretty big jump. If I am spending over 100, I would be going after a 911.

u better not sell that STI i swear
driving barefoot is 10x better than driving with shoes tbh

Same can be said about Subarus. Or any brand for that matter. It’s all about who owns the car.
