Great video. I stumbled upon your video while trying decide what logging software I want to start using. I am dumping HRD. I think you sold me on Log4OM2. I am happy to see that you are actively responding to posted questions. Thanks for that. So here are a few questions for you: Will Log4OM also interface with FLDigi? I assume it will have similar UDP setting to configure. Since I do not anticipate running FLDigi and WSJT at the same time, can I share the same incoming UDP inbound connections or should I create separate connections and ports for FLDigi? Thanks and 73

I changed the settings as per the video. I am using Cat cable to connect with the radio. I have been looking for a way to populate the callsign that I am working into log4om for months. Thanks for making this video. One question: when running wsjt-x without gridtracker the qso no longer logs to log4om. How would I get it to still log when gridtracker is not running?

    • @hamworldonline
      @hamworldonline  9 місяців тому

Sorry for the long delay on replying. In case you havent fixed the issue yet: in WSJTX in the Reporting tab, check on Secondary UDP to allow QSO info to go to Log4OM and set the IP address and UDP port to Log4OM. This will send the QSO's to the log when not using Gridtracker.
Personally, I prefer to always run GT when doing FT8/FT4. 73 de Santiago HI8O

Thank you for putting this together! I've been looking for a way to integrate these tools, and this is perfect. Although I am having a problem. Everything worked when I first set it up. But when I came back the next day (after shutting everything off for the night), WSJT-X was no longer connecting to Gridtracker. Gridtracker keeps waiting for a UDP message. All the settings are unchanged (UDP, Multicast, etc).
After some troubleshooting, I noticed that I needed to go into Log4OM settings (Connections), and resave the settings (without doing anything else - just open settings and save/apply), then everything works again. Any idea why this is happening?

@@hamworldonline Not yet, but the workaround is working. All I need to do open "Program Configuration" in LOG4OM2, and then "Save/Apply" to close the Config window. Then everything seems to work.
So it looks like it is an issue with the linking to/from LOG4OM2.

First, thanks for watching and for commenting. What I meant is that because in this set up, JTAlert is not used for logging (I use Gridtracker to send qso to logger), then JTAlert won´t updated automatically the confirmed contacts I have. Therefore to keep JTAlert being useful I must manualy update the adif file (with the worked and confirmed contacts).
Please note that this set up was for educational purposes, currently I am not using JTAlert and just kept Gridtracker, Log4OM and WSJTX.

    • @hamworldonline

Thanks Claude for watching and for the important feedback, I will make sure to remember next time. As for your question, I´ll do my best to explain.
My main rig is a Flex 6300, and I have created the following ports (on SmartSDRCAT):
      - One Serial Port (Com X) to allow Omnrig to connect to the Flex
      - Two TCP Ports (one for each Slice) to allow Wsjtx to connect to the Flex
Then, once Ominirig is connected to the Flex, I use Omnirig to connect to Log4OM and it get´s the radio info. Remember that Log4OM uses Ominirig or Hamlib (which I never tried it) for CAT Control.
In other words, Log4OM uses Omnirig to connect to Flex and WSJTX connects directly to radio.
On the secondary rig (Yaesu 991), I use the Software Win4Yaesu to operate and control de radio and it allows me to creat virtual ports to connect Wsjtx and other softwares that needs to communicate with the radio.
Hope this answers your question, if not please let me know.
Again, thanks for letting me know of the missing information and for watching.
