    After ALL these years of cycling (34) and triking (3), I thought I was the ONLY guy ever to rebuild, re-grease my pedals!!! GREAT explanation, thank you!

    Tip: If you do not have the bearing removal tool, use the flat part of a 10.5 mm drill bit

    Excellent video. I needed the reminder to service my XTs that I've been putting off for awhile. Enjoying the channel, keep up the great work!

    As always it was entertaining and informative. I think you should also be known as the "Bike Professor" or I saw a T shirt that said on front with a bike pic "Cycologist"

      I have a t-shirt that says "Cyclepath" - does that count?

    Or....you could do more one legged drills in your spin class!😃 also, you could use the Wabi 6mm to 8mm adaptor.

      Dirty Teeth MTB you are very passionate about your videos so good on you. I am currently building a bike that will have to do global touring and possibly big races using a pinion gearbox solution. The sundry and support kit I am sort of 1/3 happy. So it’s a topic on my mind. I see a lot of folks talk about 3 tonnes of kit all packed in 2mm package and it a simple case of just add water and out popped a garage full of kit ....lol.

    Yo pienso que unta el eje con azeite 2ow50 es mucho mejor para el mantenimiento del pedal.

    Why the heck would you ever use Eggbeater 11s for bikepacking??

    • @DirtyTeethMTB
      @DirtyTeethMTB  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and commenting, Willigray!... depends on if it's a race or not, route length/terrain, which bike I'm using, trying to go ultralight, etc - but I'll quote myself from 1:53 in the video, "... for the record, I usually prefer Candy 1's or 7's without the titanium spindle for bikepacking... I feel the standard spindle is stronger and worth a little weight penalty while bikepacking"... hope that answers your question - Merry Christmas and happy trails :)

    How do you rate the eggbeaters compared to a Shimano spd pedal? Using them for XC and gravel.

    • @DirtyTeethMTB
      @DirtyTeethMTB  2 роки тому +1

      Haha, love your moniker 🙌 I get that question a lot - SPD vs CB - very subjective, and I’ve had many clients, friends argue for both sides. Personally, I like eggbeaters. Light, 4 sides of engagement / easy in and out , shed mud great 👍 ride on!

    • @thankgravelitsfriday

      @@DirtyTeethMTB I was thinking about this today as we were riding gravel and there was quite a bit of snow and mud and I couldn’t get into my pedals a few times haha. Thanks for the insight!

    • @nicojar

      @@thankgravelitsfriday Buy the shimano XLR. Lighter than the best Eggbeaters, serviceable too if you want, wayyyyy cheaper, and you'll never have to buy pedals ever again (and hardly to service them).
      Eggbeaters is a religion - nothing rational. It breaks, you need shims, it's wobbly, you have to service them more than once a year (!) - it's basically the American pedal: it's awfully expensive for mediocre quality, you've got to pay 100 bucks every year in servicing if you want them to work, and they'll be dead in two or three years anyway.
      (and every pedal shed mud great, they're made for that)

    All sockets are not the same, and some will not have enough room to catch the bearing.
