    Thanks for the info . I'm doing a pump fuel with methanol port injection setup at the moment. I figure adding methanol later in the tune at high boost and rpm it gives best of both worlds pump fuel keeps condensation down and hotter while cruising with easier cold starts and less costly in the long run.

    Been combing the internet for months for information on building a methanol fuel system. I had to watch and read a lot of crap unrelated along the way.. This video really covers it all and is to the point. But was buried deep under meth injection videos and E85 videos. Very hard to find.

    128oz/gal. 50/50 mix = 71.5oz Methanol - 56.5oz Distilled Water

    I have found that POR15 has a fuel tank sealer I've used it in a fuel tank its good for methanol 3years now with no corrosion on a steel fuel tank. Probably won't work on plastic tanks because drys very hard and won't flex and could crack. Also I'm thinking on my new build I'm going to have a drying filter on the fuel tank breathing hose to prevent moisture getting to the fuel and low pressure 2 way valve. Will try 50/50 methanol 91 mix and daily drive it. Would 2 stroke oil be a good lube additive methanol?

      Thanks for watching! Please update me with an email to the channel email on how your 50/50 mix driving goes. I am starting to see more interest in flex fuel with methanol and I enjoy seeing others have success with it too. I will be doing more testing with it soon too. There is a product called “top lube” that is a lubricant for methanol that is easy to get on summit racing or Jegs for about $10 that treats 55gal.

    You want more that stock timing even with Boost?? I always thought you take timing away with boost even on methanol

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  Місяць тому +1

      You need to put it on a dyno to find how much ignition the given engine wants. Methanol especially with rich mixtures can take a lot of advance because it burns slower than gasoline

    Is there any reliable info on installing for na on high compression engines? Mostly looking to see how somebody would setup the tune. My best guess, with very little understanding, would be connecting to the injector pulse width signal and setup to only run above a cruising speed. Really curious if the possibility of 2 mpg and ability to run lower octane could work. Plus no carbon build up on the heads.....not like mine have much.

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  Рік тому

      Any engine with a standalone ECU and supporting fuel modifications can be tuned to run methanol

      Do afr targets change when methanol injection starts? Could I still let the narrow bands target 14.6 and then have the proper timing adjustments in the manifold air temp timing table?

    Bro does methanol have a shelf life? I have left over and still in its original can container for about a year now and want to mix it 50/50 with water, appreciate your help

      If it's properly sealed it's good for years.

    I'm a little slow on the math side But I am running a 496 bb chevy twin turbo 76mm with a mechanical fuel injection system I
    from Ron's killer injection Termanatior1060 and I'm wondering if I should mix with gas I run 1/8 mile what is your opinion. you seem to know your stuff so I would love your opinion if so what would you suggest me trying for a mixture rashito I'm non intercooler at around 620HP

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  2 місяці тому

      If you are just racing I would use pure methanol for the cooling effect. 50/50 methanol and gasoline is what I have been playing with in the 600hp range and it seems to be a great fuel for what I’m doing

    ave you done to fuel lines and du you run the car on straight pump fuel before stand still or is it not necessary when you only at 30-40% m100? Do you change oil more often when you at blend fuel ? Thanks a lot

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  6 місяців тому +1

      I have new oem rubber fuel lines but nothing special. I don’t let it sit for weeks with that mix of fuel so I usually just drive it until it’s close to empty and fill with pump gas before it sits. I have not noticed anything unusual with the oil and usually change it once a year which is about 500-1000miles with how little this car get used

    Just an fyi, top fuel dragsters only run about 15% methanol, mandated by the rules. Top fuel dragsters run nitromethane as a primary fuel. A/F ratio on methanol is about 5.5-6.0 for most combos, as rich as 5.1 for best power.

    It only burns slower because you’re making it richer Methanol burns faster then gasoline so if .9 lambda methanol is 15% faster
