Great information! You can also run methanol as a flex fuel additive just like ethanol. I made a custom flex fuel table that I use on my car to blend in methanol up to 80% by volume where it maxes out the ethanol sensor. I have been doing this for a few years with no issues and typically run a 30-40% blend by volume. You get a lot of the benefits of methanol at low blend concentrations with the benefits of gasoline and better fuel economy than purely methanol. I just made 559whp and 640lbft on an M30 methanol gasoline blend. Cheers !
I was actually looking for information on this. I wonder if it's possible to have a flex fuel setup in where you have 3 different fuels? Petroleum, Ethanol and Methanol. AFAIK the flex fuel sensors don't actually work on detecting the chemicals %, rather the density of liquid or some such method. So I had wondered how people are / if doing this.
for me M100 is cheap~ and local but E85/blends isn't and i have also regular pump85-to-diesel ( including 110LL av-gas but im nowadays building my 🇺🇸 charger 1960-75 hemi not to need to use that anymore 😉 , nitromethane for this engine/me is on special occasions or im serious about winning/ 😭 from braking-something 😂 but it's way too expensive-etc to run normally i just like that 1970 top fuel/crackle-car experience ) fuels but road tripping ( drag-week or family vacation/visiting aka not racing and normal daily driving ) id need to tune for either pump-gas or e85 as my knowledge of whereabouts to buy M100 is limited on the USA 🇺🇸 roadways, and with higher cylinder-PSI's aka 11:1+to-16:1~+boost-TTurbo'd ( also it's a TR6060 swap so it changes how the tune needs to be vs a automatic-727 ) it needs good fuels and good tuning ect so saying there's no reason why mixing E85 or pump-gas/shit-gas and 100M blends is miss leading, and yes M100 whenever i ran my mathematics ( 2018-21~/ after my BBM383-combo died ) for buying parts locally daily activity/drivability it was cheap to drive/operate vs 91~Utah pump and no i have in the past put 5k+ mileage yearly on my car's 😉
Hi wi will try the same after seeing your video about blend m100 with pump gas. But what have you done to fuel lines and du you run the car on straight pump fuel before stand still or is it not necessary when you only at 30-40% m100? Do you change oil more often when you at blend fuel ? Thanks a lot.j
@@HHCHunterYTC Methanol and Ethanol read across the flex fuel sensor similarly. Therefore, the system will either by calibrated for Methanol or Ethanol, not both.
I used to think that usage of spirit fuels provides more energy (mass x energy content x volume) at the end but than I read that high latent heat of vaporization rate cancels it out so the real advantage of spirit fuel is just high octane ratio and cooling intake charge... Overall they don't procuce more energy ( thus power) by chosing them as the type of fuel to be used but just allow to get closer to MBT point the most and this is where more power is coming from.
Hello again, first of all, thank you for the content. I have a question, if you could answer me. I am using 98 octane gasoline and 50/50 methanol water injection, I am using turbo pressure between 2 and 2.5 bar pressure with a compression ratio of 9.75 to 1, now I am with a stoichiometric mixture of 11.5, I could go towards poorer like 12.5? I await your response, thank you. Best regards Goyo
Are these fuel only for drag racing? Is it possible to run methanol or methanol 50:50 nitromethane for circuit racing (assuming if there are no rules prevent that?)
You can use them. I wouldn't though, atleast not nitromethane. These fuels are exspensive and you usually don't need the amount of power they can achieve in circuit racing, not to mention the fuel economy loss. Ethanol is a far better option, in my opinion. Methanol used as a blended in on demand fuel is a decent solution for heat/knock control.

Just saw recently you can buy druns of methanol race fuel with a 5% nitro blend. can't remember the brand

Curious as to why alcohols are more prone to pre ignition than petrol
late reply, but alcahols already have oxygen in them meaning it reduces the activation energy for combustion.
sounds like a great fuel for the daily.
Nah I’ll use that for track uses only
What about diesel tuning with water methanol injection? I have a 2.8l Colorado. Thanks
what is the compression ratio of methanol fuel?
huh?

I didn't hear of any mention of the chemical makeup of methanol, CH₃OH, part of methanol is oxygen.
What about nitrous and methanol? What lambda would I be looking for with the nitrous on?
