In part due to Jimmy Messina's producer's ear, L&M has always had a reputation for featuring some of the finest musicians in the biz. In this band: Shem von Schroeck is a fine singer and the bass player other players try to sound like; Gabe Dixon on keys is coming into his own as an outstanding musician/singer/songwriter; drummer Steve DiStanislao has played with a who's who of bands, as have all these guys; Jeff Nathanson, sax; Steve Nieves, percussion & sax; Gabe Witcher, fiddle & dobro. Saw them back in college play this song. their backup musicians back in the day were phenomenal. Al Garth, John Clark, Micheal Omartian. The original live version was a very long jam. Just epic.
"Blindness binds us together with a false disguise"! Loggins & Messina had some of the greatest lyrics - not to mention musicians and melodies. Their vocal harmonies were also virtual perfection. One of my favorite groups of all time! (And I've never seen them live!😔)
Just saw Jim Messina last night and a couple of these guys were still with him. They closed with this and absolutely killed it. The audience sang every word with them. It was so cool.
I drop to one knee, bow my head, and quietly say ~ " To the Gods above- Thank You for allowing me to witness firsthand the music of the '60s, '70s, and '80s. I have been blessed."
Always liked that song, performed here wonderfully by a smooth, tight band. Kenny has always had stellar vocals, and he hasn't lost a step. Great to see he and Jim back together for this performance.
Wow. A big band, all working together as one. Even the soloists are still playing with and reacting to the other musicians. Live music on this level is like magic. Also: props to the drummer back there, playing with subtlety, finesse, intensity and power.
Jimmy’s instrumental to open this iconic song is nothing short of singularly justifying the creation of the Fender Stratocaster. Marvelous playing. Music industry titan, that Jimbo.
Saw Jim Messina in Colorado 3 months ago. Brilliant still sounds great. Played old tunes and the jazz was great. Steve Neives percussions are noteable too.
Wow, what memories. I remember when this was the #1 hit. I was driving down Santa Monica freeway listening this song, when I spotted that giant billboard with Loggins' face plastered on it...... Just wow !
An extremely underrated duo, an incredibly harmonizing duet, they par and pair up with anyone, anywhere, and anytime. Great band. I have all their albums.
In 1975 Loggins and Messina played a perfect concert at Seattle Center. Kenny hit every note outa his mouth while Jim was diligent with his great guitar work. I'd like to go back in time, see them in concert again.
This reminds me exactly of the time when my wife and I saw them at a concert in Milwaukee Wisconsin in the summer or autumn of 1974 and played this song for the first time I heard it. They don't look the same of course, but the performance and the overall sound matches perfectly. Thank You, whoever produced this for doing such a great job! You nailed it!!!
Wow, I can close my eyes and I am back in 74' in the Portland Sports arena watching them do this live! Awesome that these guys are back doing this great music again!!
Having grown up in DC seen everything and everyone that came thru Capital Centre, Lisner Auditorium, Warner Theatre, Carter Baron Amphitheatre and McDonough Area this was the absolute best show I ever saw, 1974.

I love Messina's guitar playing. So clean and clear, and note perfect. Sounds like no one else. He was the genius behind the Loggins and Messina sound.

That is the FATEST base I have heard in ... maybe ever.
its easy sometimes to forget just how great of a vocalist Kenny logging is.
And so easy on the eyes🙃😎
Saw them back in college play this song. their backup musicians back in the day were phenomenal. Al Garth, John Clark, Micheal Omartian. The original live version was a very long jam. Just epic.
There's a lot going on there. Might have to watch it about 30 more times to take it all in.
Exactly
Don't want to miss something.
"Blindness binds us together with a false disguise"!
Loggins & Messina had some of the greatest lyrics - not to mention musicians and melodies. Their vocal harmonies were also virtual perfection. One of my favorite groups of all time! (And I've never seen them live!😔)
U nailed iT 🤑🤠🥰
Just saw Jim Messina last night and a couple of these guys were still with him.
Great band. Awesome performance. Jim Messina is why I traded in my Les Paul and bought a Strat. I've never regretted it.
How do i love this... let me count the ways...
There are no words, to describe how much i LOVE this...
Kudos to everyone on stage for this classic.
Haven’t heard this in decades forgot how good it is
Always liked that song, performed here wonderfully by a smooth, tight band. Kenny has always had stellar vocals, and he hasn't lost a step. Great to see he and Jim back together for this performance.
Holy smokes, that is one of the best live snare sounds I've ever heard!
Wow. A big band, all working together as one. Even the soloists are still playing with and reacting to the other musicians. Live music on this level is like magic.
Also: props to the drummer back there, playing with subtlety, finesse, intensity and power.
My favorite Loggins And Messina song. I love it when a live performance sounds like the original recording.
This song is a hidden gem
Love it! The guys, the band, sound fantastic!
Jimmy’s instrumental to open this iconic song is nothing short of singularly justifying the creation of the Fender Stratocaster. Marvelous playing. Music industry titan, that Jimbo.
Celebrity Theater - Phoenix, AZ with my gf - beyond fantastic! This brings back such happy times…
Saw Jim Messina in Colorado 3 months ago. Brilliant still sounds great. Played old tunes and the jazz was great. Steve Neives percussions are noteable too.
When I was in the U.S. Navy this was the song of the fleet, we heard it everyday on our compartment speakers....
Wow, what memories. I remember when this was the #1 hit. I was driving down Santa Monica freeway listening this song, when I spotted that giant billboard with Loggins' face plastered on it...... Just wow !
Seen this show when I was 10 !lucky kid 1974 !
Just good stuff!! Takes me back thanks guys for all the great music
Kenny Loggins is PURE talent... more than anyone ever really realized.
Didn't he sing the Danger Zone for Top Gun and Footloose in the 80s and Meet me halfway for Stallone movie Over the Top.
An extremely underrated duo, an incredibly harmonizing duet, they par and pair up with anyone, anywhere, and anytime. Great band. I have all their albums.
LOVE this song, in the 1970s and forever!!!!!
In 1975 Loggins and Messina played a perfect concert at Seattle Center.
Kenny hit every note outa his mouth while Jim was diligent with his great guitar work.
I'd like to go back in time, see them in concert again.
Thank you again Mr.Jim Messina..you are a true gift to my music soul..still in love with you.
With all due respect of course.
My first ever live concert were Loggins and Messina in Berserkley nearly 50 years ago. Was awesome for sure!!
I was in berserkly back then. Can't believe I missed them!!
So, live music fan ever since? Because that hadda be good in '72...
Wow! Just wow! I feel like I've been transported back to my youth! Fantastic musicians.
The mix is surreal. The entire BluRay of this concert is truly reference quality.
I love that the audience is part of the recording.A great live performance.
Agree!
Wow, I can close my eyes and I am back in 74' in the Portland Sports arena watching them do this live! Awesome that these guys are back doing this great music again!!
Yeah man
Shit man that's an eIght min. Song
@@larrypriddy6382 8 minutes of Sublime my Brother!
Having grown up in DC seen everything and everyone that came thru Capital Centre, Lisner Auditorium, Warner Theatre, Carter Baron Amphitheatre and McDonough Area this was the absolute best show I ever saw, 1974.
Holy Shit, These Guys Haven't lost a Thing
Pro's, PRO's havin some fun

Killin it..
That's because they've been to the LOST and FOUND....
Great band. What a treat to see this done live with so much energy!
Each player is a virtuoso.
Played nothing but their music (especially Full Sail) on a cross country trip in a cool '75 White Firebird with my best friend. Magical times!
Butt-ton of pure, unadulterated talent on that stage.
Blows me away every time I watch and listen to this brilliant performance. WoW!
This is an AMAZING PERFORMANCE ! The Talent Level of these musicians is completely off the charts ! I absolutely love this song. Beautiful music for sure.
Man all of them are elite musicians.
Amazing stuff!
I love Messina's guitar playing. So clean and clear, and note perfect. Sounds like no one else. He was the genius behind the Loggins and Messina sound.
Messina was producing new talent when he came across Loggins.
@@jcgillin51 Yep, he wasn't expecting to get on the recording himself.
Word! My nigggaa 🍻
Nice💥
West Los Angeles, summer of 74 and this track was blasting out of everybody’s car. Pre A/C days when everyone had their windows rolled down.
Yeah. And our only worry was would we meet our parent's curfew or not!
He'll with da curfew! They couldn't find me cuz I was cruising in my air conditioned 65 GTO! JAMMIN wit da Craig power play and da Jensen 6x9 s on the back deck. Man those were goooood times! These guys played in Cajun country back inda day and that was my first concert and the best evah!
