I'm pretty sure that's why they call it fishing and not catching. Spencer you're not the only one who fails to put fish in the boat or on the bank. I fish for food and then enjoyment, good thing I have a job. Fishing has been tough this year.

I've not missed a @rivercertified video in many years. I understand some folks may complain about "fishless" fishing videos. However, youve provided GREAT content for many years now. We all have dry spells. Those who say they do not , arent fishing enough ! Keep your head up man. Thank you for the content !

I'm out on a lake, my friend pulled in a 30lb blue cat from 2 weeks ago. I forget my headlamp. And my backup headlamp in the car is not there. Oh well. I'm still out enjoying the water and I have a Spencer video to enjoy.
Drought condenses all the fish, water temps get higher, and all the food the flathed eats has less and less to eat. It sucks, but it's the way it is. I'm hoping we have a mild winter here in the Midwest and a wet spring.

Spencer, I'm gonna watch ur videos regardless of what's on the hook, you have the most down to earth videos out there, I fish the ohio and Mississippi, or used to, crappie only now, but all my life had a thing for flatheads , what's cooler than having a camo body, show us the big blues ur doing a great job!
Its been weird year! I caught way more last year! But its about the experience, not always catching! You don’t suck, look at the big fish you got to fight! Keep on makin em, we’ll keep watching em!
Spencer, we love your video. The only recommendation is that we need more of is Sam, Ryan and maybe Josh for some good fishing buddy banter. Fishing with the boys, maybe a catch and cook, and if not, fry some brots and hashbrowns. Sweet video every time!

You just keep fishing and we will keep watching. Drought is an ugly thing when it comes to catching flatheads. When I was a kid, you could catch em all day, then the '80's hit and the water dropped and we had to find new ways to catch them. I just enjoy watching a fellow fisherman doing what we love.

Success is an odd thing to define Spencer. If your measurement is number of fish you are going to have good days (months, even years) and bad, if you measure satisfaction in your audiance then I guess its up to your audience. Im one of the 153k subscribers who watch you regularly and you are engaging, amusing and genuine and I wait patiently for each of your posts. I enjoy fishing, some times I catch a lot, sometimes a little and sometimes none.... that's fishing. I enjoy your content, Even when there are no monsters the channel is engaging, fun and genuine... that's you. Keep them coming my friend.
I started targeting trophy catfish a couple years ago, and any success I've had catching them I credit to two people. You and Dieter Melhorn. You for river fishing flatheads and Dieter blues for large lakes. I fish mainly in a river system in Southeast Texas. I can definitely sympathize with the drought conditions. I have some days with fish, and a lot more without them so I get it. I've only ever commented on a couple of videos ever, but you looked like you needed a pep talk. Like everyone else watching, I like it when you catch fish, but I like listening to the running commentary ten times better. So no fish, no problem.
Man that place would be ideal for native American artifact hunting with the water that low!!

It's everywhere. They've all but closed king salmon fishing in my part of Alaska, and restrictions on rockfish are so tight it doesn't make sense to fish them. I'm afraid this is a long term trend, not a short term blip. But if we can enjoy the outdoors and our time on the water, not all is lost. You do a great job Spencer
I truly love to see the passion u share w us in these videos. It's hard going for alot of us here in Iowa the cedar is the lowest I've ever seen it and channel cats are hard to come by also let alone a flathead. There's spots where the river is 50 yards wide and there's no water flowing at all. Thank you for all you have to give in your videos been a follower for a while.

Man Spencer here in southeast Kansas we are going though an unbelievable drought as well. Our dam here in town is on dry land. The river hasn't been running in three months. It's really scary.scary. mind you we boast the world record flat head was caught in our reservoir. So I get it. I love your videos so keep making them please.
Hey man your videos are the best out there in the fishing category. You keep it real but entertaining. You don't over edit but edit well. The flathead fishing has changed out east too we have also had low waters the last few years and it has slowed the bite incredibly even on one of the best rivers in the country.
I subscribed to your channel due to your effort and personality. Being able to kick back after work and fish with you is one of the only ways for me to relax sometimes. Your honesty and knowledge is appreciated more than anything else. The fish are a bonus!

So I am in Minnesota and we have been in a drought for about 3 years now and this year being the worst but the group of guys I fish with have caught more flatheads this year than any other year. Love your videos man you have taught me alot. I plan on shitting you up for a guided trip next summer.

Iowa flatheads are definitely the best but also some of the trickiest at times, keep the updates coming even if they don’t make the best videos, interested if the boat sells to see what you get next to chase fish out of
I can’t lie about it on the way home I was thinking how about 330 I was crossing the Arkansas River on I 40 and Oklahoma. I was telling a buddy it would be cool to try bumping I was telling him about you and how are you do it. Then I was thinking to myself I would like to see more kayak fishing. Western Iowa has been in severe drought too. Rivers and farm ponds are so low it's scary. Lots of fish in trouble this winter.

Fishing has been tough in my area, too. Mild drought conditions and lingering hot weather havent helped at all. I also wouldnt say you suck. We fished the Mississippi River on Sunday. Barely got the boat out of Sunset marina in the Quad Cities. Sure wasn’t hard finding a sandbar. Water is low. Love what you do and thanks for sharing.♥️👍🏼

You don't suck man you really know how to fish, even up here in Minnesota the fishing has been unbelievably tough. The fish are scooled up in very few spots all of our smaller rivers are dead very few fish left in them that haven't gone to the big rivers and they all have pretty much shut down on biting. I've been talking to alot of anglers that just don't know what to do anymore cause everyone's been trying everything
Even in TN it’s been a hard year for catching fish but I do enjoy watching your kayak/bank fishing videos more because as someone who also bank fish I feel like I can learn more and put myself in a better position to catch fish when the opportunity arises. Watching you catch monster flatheads is a huge plus but watching your process and the amount of information you put out is the real value 🎣

lack of flow, and this iI stand amongst others, from the way across the world, your videos and you being yourself - best and most honest fishing channel IMHO.
In relation to the drought, we are experiencing (Europe/Croatia Drava and Danube river) same things... All time highs when they should not occur, and then all time lows when we should have decent water. But what is most afecting the fish is the lack of flow, rivers are getting slower, less oxygen, less obstacles, less honey holes. Fishing became very expensive hobby and it is what it is.
But please don't give, I would still watch you trying!

Back in 2018 my buddy and I fished the st joe catfish tournament with 168 boats . I have never done a tournament before or after that one. We got 2nd place it was a blast. Keep at it brother and it will happen

I completely understand where you are coming from ! Fishing has been harder and harder over the last four years !! I live in CA and fish out of Santa Cruz in the pacific ocean . Over the last four years there has been a dramatic difference , I have been out fishing for eight hours and only caught four bait fish !!! What a day ... makes you question everything .. Hope some buys your boat , and you get the larger one that you want . Go Giants !!

Winters, drought, and I’m going to go ahead and say all the chemicals put in crop fields along the rivers. Those 3 together are making it hard on them that’s for sure.
