Thanks for the review. Just played around with the configurator on the Yates HP. My dream razor of choice would be about 450$. I didn't order immeadeatly. The shipping to Europe is way too expensive.
I got my 921-M stone washed razor used then on labor day I ordered the EH baseplate in stone wash from the YPM website. It's the best razor I have and the only one I use there is no rotation anymore.
That Yates 921 has a nice finish, but I got the 'Merica Razor because I like the design most of all Yates razors. For me the Merica with its 0.016 blade gap is an ideal daily driver - smooth but efficient. Now I have to try out the new and milder version of the Greencult razor with the 0.65mm blade gap and a blade exposure of 0.10mm. Seems that I can't resist the cicular knurling. Yates unfortunately uses a nonstandard 10/32 thread for their handles instead of the standard metric M5 thread. So there are no more Yates razors on my wish list.
Love your videos, Greg! Everyone mentions the quality (which is high), but I haven’t heard anyone mention your music playlist which is also really on point. And “ATG can go F itself…on my face” was super funny 😂
I have the ‘Merica in machined. Reminds me a bit of the Overlander mild feeling but efficient. Have not compared side by side yet. I’d say a small notch under medium but can get a close shave. Just shaved off 3 days of thick growth no problem. Impressed with the quality, price and shave. This is in line with RR GC value when catching it on sale. Plus Jake and his family just seem like good people you’d want to support. The 921 Yates needs more thicker handle options. I think I spotted one in the handle section in one size.
Thanks for sharing Ronnie. Yeah the handle is a bit slim, took a minute to get used to. But the balance in the weight across the razor I think makes up for it
Actually there's an extra high level plate available from Yates precision manufacturing last time I checked.. I have one.. It's phenomenal and aggressive without being overbearing.
Nice review - Yates seem like a nice company judging by their IG. I own the Drakkant myself and love it, great build quality. Oh and you should henceforth judge your shaves in different stages of Yummyness 😂
great show greg. i have the easy-going "merica" razor, as-machined. and i have the short-lived, brutal-looking "winning" razor. today, i plan to order a yates 921, with an m-hybrid guard baseplate and handle from a newly-released batch of 3.25-inch "stubbies" (MAR23). incidentally, revised "merica" base plates came available this week.
Hi Greg was planning to order a Yates Which razor would u compare the H and Eh plate to any razor for reference Rockwell any plate or any other razor ? My beard type is dense and medium coarse. Sure advise would be helpful and appreciated. Thank u🤗❤️

I haven’t! I was so close at winning one the other day 😢. The m plate is more mild and the h plate is more efficient than the outlaw (thought I included that in the video sorry)

Try Shield Razors I ordered 3 and had no clue, but oh boy. It's Ti and from 🇨🇳 but I believe Bullgoose is going to offer it.
