I used a Boker straight razor and while I love it, it takes more work. You have to use a strop prior to the shave. You need to get it honed periodically as though the strop helps keep the edge, the edge will lose its sharpness overtime. With a shavette, you just replace the razor.

How does the henson vs...say, the tarditinaol blade, handles?

I dont have anything expensive, but between Gillete, Parker, Merkur, Edwin Jagger and a $10 Baili , the Baili gives me the best shave in most cases. So boutique razors are not about getting the 'best' shave. Its just people that want to belong to a group and discuss the hobby, but it has nothin to do with actual performance IMO. My $10 razor is now 7 years old and looks bran dnew still. Getting a good result for shaving would just be finding a blade / razor combo thats a good match for your skin. Honestly nothing to do with cost as razor geometry is not rocket science. It was figured out like 60 years ago or more. I have a Seiko automatic watch. IMO it tells time as well as a TAG or Omega autmoatic watch. I get why someone would want a more fancy watch but its not really about the performance, but the status and somethint to talk about with other enthusiasts IMO. Anyway my mini rant is done. I just wanted to clarify that a budget DE razor doesnt mean the shave is inferior.

On my face, multiple passes with most razors equals cuts, razor burn, and ingrown hairs. With the Henson, I get all of that in one pass, plus the added bonus of my face still feeling like sandpaper. What’s not to love?

The rk blades are really not good. Imo Henson shouldn't have partnered with rk. Astra good blades but yea don't send the rk blades with the razors.

I got one from the razor emporium, and it's easy to use. They are pricey but they last for life. I can't complain about it.

Hi Greg. Thanks for your reviews to which I have subscribed. I have 9 razors bought over the period since last August when I dumped cartridge shaving for safety razors. I recently bought the Henson mild and have to say that with a second use Gillette Platinum it gave me one of my closest shaves, and without significant irritation on my very sensitive skin. This is one razor I will be keeping, whereas I will be parting regrettably with my Edwin Jagger 3one6 and Giesen Forsthoff Timor 1920, both of which do not suit me. I recently bought a Panasonic Series 900 LV-9U electric, which gives me a completely irritation free, very very clean shave, and this has brought me to review my safety razors from the point of view of good, but minimal irritation shaves.

I get skin burning with those rake razors... Gillette is superb. It's like wearing a old spring wound watch and thinking it's better...it is not..hello?😂 Totally agree on high cost... but I make them last

The Konsol has service parts the Osprey does not...the Konsol can be taken apart and put back together, the Osprey can not.

After 45 years of shaving, I finally found the two best razors made the Henson++ and +++. Any disagreement is simply anger that these brothers upended a whole industry. Case closed.

The thing that makes me not want to buy a Henson is that I prefer the feel of a heavier razor. My Bevel safety razor is quite heavy.

If you shave every day or two most important part is to enjoy it. You want smooth tool and rich smell of your soap/aftershave. Its a way to have fun doing one of most repetitive and boring chores of your life. 5-10$ a month for new soap is best gift you can gift to yourself BUT smooth razor is what elevates that whole process to next level. Now that being said buying 50 razors is just stup1d hahahaha. You need at most 2 or 3.
