The mechanics are the unsung heroes of the setup... Squirreling away keeping the bikes mint and in running order.. Id love to spend a day working with them. Id learn so much.
Never gonna complain about washing my steed anymore after seeing this, can’t believe how much work goes into a race bike between races and tests.Superb vid Taylor hope the season goes well👍🏻
It's great to get an insight into how often maintenance is needed and parts replaced. It gives the outsider a feel of how much stress racing puts on the bike. Plus how the skills of a good mechanic make all the difference. The costs involved to keep those wheels turning are frightening. Great stuff Taylor thanks for the behind the scenes look. Thanks to Alec as well seems a top bloke who knows his craft inside out. 👍
Taylor Sir I know this is old, but I speak for all your subscribers and fans here. This sort of stuff is like gold dust and rare as tartan paint. I don't see any F1 'champs' doing this sort of thing during a heavy season of pro racing like you are doing. You Sir are absolutely brilliant in all aspects of pro racing, and a 'large chip of the old block' Your pops, who I was a big fan of back in the day. Cheers for all of this. Now bloody get out there and nail it!
Excellent description of what actually needs to be done at every meeting. A lot of pressure on mechanics to get everything spot on. Especially on the roads
What a great insight into all the effort and parts that go into running a first class race team. Best of luck for the season Taylor and thanks for the great content your providing.
I would like to know one tenth of what that man's forgotten, best paint job in the paddock ...dont make him work too hard this year Taylor 🤞 best wishes for the season!!
Fantastic insight, a genuinely educational video. I'm OCD with cleaning, Alec is on just another level, can't imagine what WSB & MotoGP get up to... You will have to show us when you get there Taylor 👍👍👍
Awesome! For my regional-level effort, I have one bike (yamaha r3), a few levers and small bits as spares, it all has to fit into a Fiat Ducato van, and the bike gets an oil change every couple of weekends (LOL) and a chain and brake pads over the winter! Cheers!
Fantastic insight, I could have listened to that guy talk about the maintenance side of racing for hours. Would love to see how a works Moto GP team operates because this was impressive for probably nothing like the same budget.
Loving these background videos - they're showing what it's really like to run a race team, and agree with the others, Alec sounds like a top bloke. Loved seeing Eeyore's dad's bike in the background - ever been on it? And it'll be a sad day when Bathams stop their involvement; they're one of those iconic BSB sponsors.
A great insight into the garage side of racing. Three hours to empty the boxes and prepare a race bike, brilliant ! Good job Taylor and many thanks to Alex too 👍
See that garage, that’s my idea of heaven!!!! 30 years I’ve been in a garage and that would just suit me perfectly! Leave me in that place with my toolbox, a coffee machine and I’d rattle bikes out all day every day!!!!! Michael Rutter, if yi ever want another mechanic I’m yir man 👍👍👍
Very impressive! I thought I kept my bike nice and clean but it would look a right mess next to that. I was at a track day which a pro rider was at a little while ago. Between sessions they were constantly cleaning the bike, while I was just sat chatting over a cup of coffee!
The 2 bikes looked fantastic a couple of weeks ago, at Darley Moor. The M bike, you were on looks awesome. ( went well too) I loved photographing them all day. . Just a pity I didn't get an image of you and Michael side by side
Must cop a beating. I’d compare my chain on my ZX6R but it’s a street bike and I’m super fussy with it but I got 30,000klm out of the original chain. Admittedly I ride easy and clean and lube after every ride. It’s done 45,000 still on original sprockets. No point ragging a road bike. Only costs money. It gets a tickle on the open road though.
Seeing all the back up kit. I understand how teams stick with a make of bike. Must cost a small fortune to change manufacturers. Loving the behind the scene stuff thank you.
Had the same sort of setup on my pre injection r6 race bike. Obviously the parts are 5% of the price but made life so easy if you had a crash. The simple thing of having clip ons ready save at least 15 minutes. Hope you do well mate.
Amazing to see a proper set up like this. If one gets binned this year try and do a damage report to follow this on? Show what gets skipped and what's recoverable?
@@tmac77 UA-cam is so full of wrecked bike rebuilds, none of them check if forks are 100% straight, yokes aren't twisted, bearings aren't ovaled, chassis alignment dead on. Half of them must be a mile out, just look pretty with new plastics and more potentially wonky parts from other write offs from Ebay! It would be good to hear from your tech about the actual reality of what impacts do to a superbike when assessed the right way. Including to the engine when if has ran horizontally. Might be eye opening for the uninformed... there's a lot of wobbly, knocky, CAT C tart ups on the road and way more howling around track days due to this methinks! Drop some knowledge T!
Very informative Alec. Thanks for posting this. I'll be seriously getting myself mentally ready to clean my front drive sprocket & by that I mean telling myself I can do it & won't screw anything up. With respect to you Sir.
Great vid Taylor, really like these videos, it gives a great insight as to what makes a team, and what’s Needed compete at this level, the cost must be through the roof.
That workshop is clean! Quite silly that they won't allow you to have a second bike ready while you still have a second bike anyway, just in bits. You basically only save having a second engine? Love the video, it really shows how meticolous and organized you have to be in order to fight for a championship.
Another fantastic insight into the things that go on behind the scenes, the work that goes on is un real thanks again for the video, take care all of you 👍🏍️🏁🏆🍾👍👍👍
Excellent behind the scenes and more of the same please. Puts my track bike maintenance to shame. I think I might give the pads a look at the start and end of the season. Time for a change! Any tool tips or fave tools for the job video would be appreciated.
Thanks for yet another interesting video, it helps to explain the costs that are incurred during a season. In the last century when I tried production racing with a RD400 pistons were replaced every race.
@@tmac77 awesome to hear from ya Taylor! Wanted to do a race school for my 50th, just saw a tweet today. Love to get over to see you boys at work! Lol 🤟🏻

Absolutely! We couldn’t do it without them!
That bike looks cleaner than mine did when it came out of the factory 😂 Great to have a guy like this on your team 👍
😂😂 the best of the best!
Alex - what a guy to have on your team love his OCD and passion
There’s not many better!
What an incredible amount of responsibility these mechanics have.
They definitely do!
Yep. Bringing my bike to a mechanic who primarily does race bikes was by far the best experience in a good amount of years.
Its good to see the guy behind the scenes getting some love.
He's not a mechanic...he's either a Doctor, Professor or even a Wizard!!!
😂😂 all 3
I wish you'd shown us Tony Rutters Offenstadt TZ 350.
I can ask!
@@tmac77 Please, do More than Ask!
The last thing I checked on my bike was the air pressure in the tyres and that’s because it was flat 😬
😝
Cant believe the preparation level is brilliant, you think youve got an idea of work and then see something like this, staggering!
It's cool isn't it! Thanks for watching
"Not that I would ever do that" he says cheekily. So excited to follow your progress this season, good luck!
😂😂 thank you!
