Cual es el modelo de celular adecuado? Que tipo de sensores debe tener?

Con funcionalidad GPS y magnetómetro (brújula) es suficiente. La mayoría de los celulares lo tienen, pero de lo contrario se puede introducir la ubicación y explorar el cielo manualmente.
