John and this band played a club in Providence a couple of years before his death and I got to stand right in front of him during sound check and suggested they play My Size.To which he replied"that's not a bad idea".After the check he graciously autographed my first bass a 60s Vox that I treasure.Later at the show he said "This is for the guy with the Vox". And broke into My Size!
Entwistle fronting his band, and doing it well. From about 1967 to at least 1980, John Entwistle could easily have been called the best bass player in the world. In 65 and 66, he was actually involved in INVENTING the way bass would be played in a hard rock band.
The Ox, live, in his element! And as the Ox remarked, he was not a bass player but rather, a “bass guitarist!” Regardless of labels, the Ox was a raging hurricane on stage! RIP Ox, BASS GUITARIST!
Wide awake in the middle of the night I wonder how she's feeling Is it just a trick of the light Or is her ceiling peeling? (Lol; How can ya not love John?)
905Alive I really do not enjoy the sound of the snare or bass drums. He’s clearly a good drummer, but I really despise the sound of his drums. The Ox, however, rules!
Man sollte aber auch erwähnen dass dieses Touren Ihn in den finanziellen Abgrund trieb. Er spielte nicht vor ausverkauften Säälen. Trotzdem ein toller Musiker.
Considering the booze and drugs he had taken over the years, his voice wasn't as good as it used to be. But imo he doesn't sound too bad here. I've heard worse from him. 😔
@@starrynight.1995 Willing to bet that even still, they were overdubbed. There nothing much in any other live Who performance from this time to suggest he could carry a lead vocal this strong in a live setting.

I Love Him. Forever.
Man, that's a cool story!!!
The greatest bass player in the world.
Gerald Boettcher Bar none!

Sorry that I never got to see his band, despite seeing The Who in the UK many times. Did the JE Band ever appear beyond the USA?
@@ViscountVile nah USA was the market. Sure he had plans ..
Thunderfingers era incrível!!!!
Não me canso de ouvir, principalmente no solo final quando ele liga o chorus... muito top.
Rip Entwistle
Damn..I miss him!!!!
❤️ his Bass & magnificent presence he’s always had
He will always be his memories will always live on that's not something that will never be takin away in music!
My favorite song off this album, bought it when it came out
Old Thunderfingers !!! 🤩🤩🤩👍
The Ox, live, in his element!

RIP Ox, BASS GUITARIST!

The Oxx Loved the Play the band were loving jaming with Him Greatest Bass Player ever
The Ox is great
The GOAT! I mean The OX!

I like this song 👍🕷
God, I love John Entwistle so much!
What a funny song. Why don't more Bassist play like him.
PPL LIKE JOHN ARE ONE OFFS MATE
jerry hardage because they can't. Why don't more guitarist play like Jimi Hendrix, lol?
They just can't.
Many have tried, they’ve all missed the mark!
He needs a singer !
NEEDS ROGER!
Steve got a little cute on the intro but dialed it in quickly and nailed it
Untouchable on the Bass
Awesome
Amazing
Holy shit that ending!
I have the same strap that John is using - got it in the 70s
my stripper song. Greatest story ever written. Sure you were great✌️✌️🙃🙃🙃🎵🎵🎵
Anybody else notice the main intro riff was slightly fucked up? Drums don't sound sync or maybe entwistle just blew my mind
Rockkk!!

What does that mean? Is her ceiling peeling...

@@jaybowden2658 very trùe..I was thinking about whistle Rymes John Entwistles solo album for some reason!..👍
the strings of his bass split off at the nut? what a meastro
8 string
Damn that's hard to play a 12 string with close gauged strings like that with fingers...
Wow
It's an 8-string bass that Entwistle's playing, but yeah. I'm sure his fingers had super thick calluses.
that was a rough start.
Never heard of him
In 2000, Guitar magazine's readers poll named him "Bassist of the Millenium." His Wiki page is pretty long for a bass player.
the drummer is too jazzy, too busy, Moon's straight hard tom fills are the correct approach
905Alive I really do not enjoy the sound of the snare or bass drums. He’s clearly a good drummer, but I really despise the sound of his drums. The Ox, however, rules!
Yep 80s snare sound
Yeah his tuning and that over compressed sound is fucking awful .. keith never needed compression and they played massive places
Sorry but I dig this guy more than Moon
@@Gk2003m moon didn't have to play the drums while trying to replicate ROGER DALTREY. the guy's doing a fine job!
Too bad the audience was deaf after this...
Luongo is a good player but that snare....
Who is the singer/guitarist?
Godfrey Townsend
@@keithsmith756 thanks buddy, found and and did a lot of youtubing on Godfrey. Very impressive.
The most coked up band ever :) At least they're having a good time....

The drummer screwed up the intro. Too bad, seemed quite competent.
Loved his snare sound, but I wasn't thrilled with him as a player.
Yes - I see what you mean. Not sure about his shirt, either!
He screwed up the whole thing
Loved the Ox, but even for a live gig, WHOA John's vocals are bad.
Considering the booze and drugs he had taken over the years, his voice wasn't as good as it used to be. But imo he doesn't sound too bad here. I've heard worse from him. 😔
And the sound of his bass (not his playing) could be a lot better too. It may not have been the ideal gig for a DVD.
@@starrynight.1995 Willing to bet that even still, they were overdubbed. There nothing much in any other live Who performance from this time to suggest he could carry a lead vocal this strong in a live setting.
He was about 90% Deaf by this time. That he could even attempt to sing is a testament to the BALZ this man had!!! love you forever, Ox!
