What a great artist and musician Mr. Rossdale is. Sixteen Stone was one of my first music purchases, and still listen to it to this day. Golden State is an underrated album. "Adrenaline" a solo song he did from the XxX Soundtrack was a sleeper song of his that was also underrated. Bush's first 5 albums were in regular rotation growing up.
16 Stone is one of those rare albums where its solid from beginning to end. The only weak track is "X Girlfriend" but I consider that more of a tacked on bonus track.
Great album! I never understood the hate he got.. I thought Bush was going to be the next Beatles when that record came out. Such a creative record. I think maybe the problem in the U.S. was that George Bush Jr. was elected President around that time so just bad luck maybe. Lots of people hated George Bush.
i has a whole summer to 16 stone. a lot of fond, stoned memories along with the smell of ck one and patchouli. thanks Gavin, my kids in their 20s love your stuff, its still a beautiful rain!!
Good picks from Gavin. I've been a Bush fan since 1994-95 and I remember some magazine interviews in which he and Nigel (former Bush lead guitarist) talked about bands that at that time Rock artists didn't talk about like Wire, fIREHOSE, Minutemen, Bad Brains, Gang Of Four, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, The Residents, Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, Kraftwerk, Can, Poco, CSN&Y, Lee Perry & The Upsetters, Toots & The Maytals, Earth Wind & Fire, like what they liked to listen to whenever they could, in addition to influences that they always mentioned as Pixies, Sonic Youth, The Clash, The Smiths, Nirvana, etc. Those types of interviews helped me a lot in the 90's to discover a lot of music that has accompanied me since then.
ELO is one of the greatest bands ever. Jeff Lynn is a musical genius in my opinion. I made a mixed album of their stuff when I was a kid and cd burners first came out. I always thought if I were on an island, that might be the one cd I would want.
Is it the mix or lyrics? It certainly couldn’t be his voice. I love and know music. Dylan can NOT sing. And this interviewer must have just came from a ball game or maybe a concert. I have a sore throat just listening to him talk😬😬😬
@@mattmorganRnR Bob Dylan is an awesome vocalist and still is. But I know it's different and took a long time for me to get it. The thing that hooked me was his unique phrasing and the way that emphasizes the meaning of what he is singing.
I listen to Bush often, but had never seen Gavin Rossdale speaking. He looks healthy. Most of my favourite singers are gone and didn't die of natural cases...
Hardly. Maybe aesthetic, that's it. No one routinely sings melvins tunes. Barring select muso nerds. It's just how it is. Nirvana transcends generations. And will continue to do so. Forget whatever you read in bios. @vincents9620
God I hate it when the word grunge is used. Not one of those bands... AIC, Nirvana, PJ, Soundgarden... None of em ever used the word. It was a dumb media-created word. Kurt said it was "stupid bullshit." 😂
In reality, "grunge" was first coined by Mark Arm in the early 80s to describe his bands music....A band that actually didn't exist yet. He said the sound was "pure grunge"..........In the late 80s, a Subpop producer used the word "grunge" to describe a few of the bands they had signed, one of those bands being Nirvana.
agree bro...AiC and Soundgarden were out years before nirvana/pj and both considered Metal nirvana stole the Melvins sound and watered it down to pop music pj was just horrible whiney music for hippies

I agree, the song he did with the Blue Man Group around the same time as XxX was pretty good too.
16 stone is one of my favourite albums of all time. Listened to it yesterday

Golden State is Really good album

Such a great musician and Dad.❤our kids played soccer together at Woodbridge Park

The interviewer is a good dude. Grew up with him. Use to watch my buddies band practice at his moms house . Good parties too.
16 Stone was the 1st album I ever purchased. Bush was my first concert. Souls and The Jesus Lizard opened... I'm so lucky to be alive when I am.
He seems surprisingly humble
Yes for such a big star..
I liked Bush's first records all the way up to about 2000.
Cool seeing PJ Harvey getting mentioned.

Awesome! :) :)
I really enjoyed watching this.
Sixteen stone is one of these for me. 🤘
I think Bush is less of a Grunge band and more of a Hard Rock/Alternative band.
Agreed. Kind of like the Smashing Pumpkins.
Some nice choices.
What record store clerk said “you like the Buzzcocks, wanna try ELO”?!?!
Lots of artist come up with bs stories like this
he didn't want him to stay with just punk....I bought a Bowie album in the 80s when I was 17 and the guy said try R.E.M.
ELO is one of the greatest bands ever. Jeff Lynn is a musical genius in my opinion. I made a mixed album of their stuff when I was a kid and cd burners first came out. I always thought if I were on an island, that might be the one cd I would want.
I'm not a Bush fan. However, Gavin Rossdale certainly seems like class act.
Some cool choices.
Bob Dylan - Desire. One of my favorite albums!
Is it the mix or lyrics? It certainly couldn’t be his voice. I love and know music. Dylan can NOT sing. And this interviewer must have just came from a ball game or maybe a concert. I have a sore throat just listening to him talk😬😬😬

@@mattmorganRnR you know and love music but don't get Dylan? Lol ok
Hello! Almost every artist choose David Bowie/ Ziggy Stardust album. That show how famous and great artist was David Bowie 😊
One of the greatest albums from start to finish imo.
The host’s voice is unique… very gruff and baritone😮
Goldberg the guy wrestles
@@ivanputksijr8299that’s not Goldberg 🤣 that’s Eric Young
His son has great taste too !
Love this 🖤❤🔥
Please turn down the music a touch while the monotone guest talks. It's too loud, and drowns out the commentary.
yes. turn it down just a bit and/or add auto captions
Agree. Hard to hear the interview.
It feels like you’re watching Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. Constant noise. Terrible format.
Yeah the music while talking is obnoxious
Just give me the list
whats he Pj Harvey song that plays after #2 at 4:53?
It's not PJ Harvey.
I listen to Bush often, but had never seen Gavin Rossdale speaking. He looks healthy. Most of my favourite singers are gone and didn't die of natural cases...
The first time I heard that Pixies song was on AEW Wrestling (Orange Cassidy).
The PJ Harvey album is one of the best of the 90's
PJ Harvey is awesome.
What does Mr. Rossdale think of the Incredible String Band, Bert Jansch, Steve Harley, and Gordon Gilstrap?
It would be interesting if Rossdale did an acoustic album...Jonathan Plum's London Bridge studio would be cool.
What, no No Doubt?
Quit being sarcastic.
Well, at least he had Bowie and Dylan
PJ is amazing.
Thought Gavin might have picked up a Bad Seeds album.
PIL metalbox!
My gaydar never worked with Gavin.
I think he dabbles a lil, if you know I mean.
@@hobojungle1he was (British pop singer) Marilyn’s (Peter Robinson) boyfriend in the 80s.
@tomasandrew9354 ultimately it doesn't matter.

Great picks Gavin
My wife is absolutely in love with Gavin.
Still? Guy is 60, face is a mess.
That’s Grunge?
This dude sounds just like Matt Pinfield
is this like a cheap knock off of whats in my bag
Great picks. Steel Pulse 👏👏
Dylon dylon dylon
Best song on Ziggy Stardust is moonage daydream
I never considered Bush a grunge band.
Can this guy clear his damn throat.
Love Gavin but this host who was a wrestler... sounds like he's rushing him and annoyed. Shame
No Nirvana? Pay the damn toll.
Really? Why? You must be 12 years old😂

I came here for this comment
He's best known as the guy who cheated on Gwen Stefani
Well no one is perfect.
Please switch off the back ground music. It is absolutely annoying.
I remember when BUSH first came out.....they were nothing more than a polished over produced NIRVANA.😂
@@vincents9620 I totally agree on the Melvins.
I think that most people felt like that.
welp, now I know Gavin is just another sheeple bleating out clichés. thumbs down. plus, his music selection blows.
Grunge band? lol
He has awful taste
Better than yours
He has excellent taste.
Every album was great. What the hell are you talking about?
F you talking about? F outta here 😂
nothing hurts like your mouth
That’s not him
Nirvana and Nirvana, because Bush was a watered down version of Nirvana.
The old mas Gavin
Why do we care about this dude. Who is he? Yeah, Stefani's guy. A total nothing.
What? Lol
Just like you.
You haven't listened to Bush.
Gavin was popular before Stefani was.
