Totally agree 15 are a great reel plenty of grunt for bullying fish over rough ground ,the casting specials are nowhere near as tough as the 15 only use them over clean ground now had issues with the studs on the reel foot comingl out had to by a new cage liking the new channel
Original penn 525 tourno monomag. Outcasts the fathom and sits lower for grip and stays looking good, but the fathom does have slightly better cranking power.
How do you find the Fathoms distance wise compared to Abu 6500's and Daiwa 7 HT's , Ive got a pair of Fathom 12 's and they seem well down on distance, And I hate the handles on the Fathoms
I recommend you go to a field and cast a fishing trace, perhaps use rubber eels or something similar to mimic the bait. Cast your Fathom and the Fathom 2 with the "clickie" mag and compare casting distance. I'm pretty sure that with the thicker fishing line and a fishing trace rather than thin line and just a lead, the difference in casting distance between the "clickie" mag and the mono mag may be less than you believe. For me the Fathom 2 is too slow on the slowest setting and too fast on it's fastest setting, there is redundancy both ways, you can still "dump" the mag on the clickie mag mid cast if you like. I have an AKS mono-magged tournament casting reel that outcasts my other reels by a long way when casting thin line and an aerodynamic 5oz lead, but once I start to use thicker line and fishing traces the gap in casting difference closes dramatically. If I cast really big baits (10oz bait + 6oz lead "Bronzie" bait, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper_shark), my big, "slow" static-magged Daiwa BG 50 casts the same distance as the tournament reel. I prefer the clickie mags for fishing, set and forget. Mono mags for field casting. There is no reason why you can't cast a Multiplier high on the rod, BTW. ua-cam.com/video/z62GHPpdld4/v-deo.html
At last someone who knows what they're talking about 😎 set and forget when you are fishing 🎣💪 fuckin about with mono mags when you're casting big baits ☹ total load of bollox
