This episode was inspired by the 2001 mauling death of Diane Alexis Whipple. The dogs' owner was high-ranking member of the Aryan Brotherhood, who was serving three life sentences, and were looked after by his attorneys who were a husband and wife.
And don’t forget they ADOPTED (the lawyers) him. I remember as more details were released to the public… it was jarring. The lawyers knew that the dogs were hella aggressive, and blamed Diane’s perfume. I think Bane was put down right away, or it was Hera. The actual story is crazy.
Right! That was here in San Francisco. The dog was a Cane Corso or Presa Canario. She was killed in her hallway outside her apartment. She was a teacher at a local college. Google: Diane Whipple, dog attack, San Francisco. The attorneys I think are released, and one is still in prison.
Yeah I noticed that in a lot of shows with "aggressive" dogs you can tell from their body language they're very happy and playful, they're just clearly dubbing over them to sound more aggressive.
I remember for the John Wick movie that had two gorgeous German Shepherds they had to use special effects to make their tails appear straight as they kept wagging their tails.
I love how clearly excited and happy the doggie is. There's barking and snarling being played, when he's not even moving his mouth. That means those were the best takes😂
It's super hard with the pittie actors too 😂 they're gentle, loving soft angels (ones I've met anyway). And they tend to look like they're 'smiling' which is adorable
My mom always told me that a person who hurts animals with no remorse, is one step from hurting people with the same coldness. As I get older, it becomes more and more obvious how right she was.
@theresaderse-nosacek5236 your right 😊 This always makes me laugh the dog is all happy and excited witj a wagging tail wanting it to say hello to everyone, but they put the sounds of a aggressive dog to it and thats supposed to make it look like a aggressive dog. It doesn't quite work when the dog looks like its just wanting to play and say hello lol
I can't imagine bringing a angry pit bull into court to scare the jury not creating a mistrial or a successful appeal as a result. It would definitely get the conviction though lol.
I'm DYING over this line. WHAT lawyer says that? As if the judge is gonna be like "Oh well in that case they can just go home then." The audacity of that guy is insane. 😂😂
I love that you can clearly tell the dog is just having the happiest time of its life lol. The barks are so fake and it doesn't look aggressive at all, just having a fun time.
@@jennifercrandon7942 from some behind the scenes stuff i've seen the dog needs to be fairly smart and then they're given cues when to start acting and when to stop. one hand signal for instances means 'bear your teeth and growl' and then another hand signal means stop. lots of treats and affirmation later you have a canine actor
What really angers me is the indifference of the defendants towards the woman's death but they certainly changed their tune when the dog is brought into the courtroom.
This episode makes me sad because of how the Pitbull was raised and trained. People look at Pitbulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, etc, and they think of Aggressive Dog. But it's not the Dog's true nature, it's how people raise. You train it right you get it used to sounds and different people, the Pitbull will be like a Big Teddy Bear. But Narcos, junkies and Sick people who like to see dogs kill each other in fights they train them to be monstrous killing machines, not to mention they like to pump Pitbulls with Steroids just to make them more Aggressive.

People who breed dogs to fight honestly get me angrier than most offenders. Even with this just being a fictional account, I can feel myself getting fucking furious. A couple of years back it went around that people were stealing elderly dogs to basically be used as bait for fighter dogs and the thought of something like that happening to my elder dog brings me to tears. And that's without the nightmare of atrocities for the fighting dogs themselves.
@@WouldntULikeToKnow.They didnt say who was more important, nor did they say that victims dont matter. They said people who make dogs fight anger them. They are victims of abuse and cruelty too
@@WouldntULikeToKnow. It's an enormous LEGAL step from abusing animals to abusing people, but -- sadly -- a very small step in the mind of the abuser. Almost all rapists and murders got their start when they were children by mistreating and torturing pets... their own or someone else's. If they're caught, the law doesn't do much to them; it's "just an animal." Eventually, the thrill is gone and they move on to young relatives. Their parents ignore the victims' cries -- "just kids playing and getting a little too rough" is the typical excuse.
I love it when attorneys and lawyers get all shocked pikachu faced when they realize they can get the same sentances as the people they defend. "We dont deserve that!" Oh, and the woman who had her THROAT RIPPED OUT did deserve it? The only blameless being here is the dog who didnt know better.
Alsso their attorney being like "My clients are not interested in jail time, your honor." SIR DO YOU THINK WHAT THEY WANT MATTERS RIGHT NOW? WHAT KIND OF LAWYER ARE YOU? 😂😂
As someone who use to work as a vet tech, this breaks my heart in so many ways. I know this is fiction, but dog fighting is very real & not a victimless crime. You take domesticated animals & train them to ki||, & that says nothing about the others dogs. The pricks who train the fighters can’t have them actually getting hurt before a real fight, but they have to build up their confidence. So, they take small & submissive animals & throw ‘em in. They’re called Baiting Dogs. Some will even declaw them & file down their teeth (if not remove them) just to make sure the fighter can’t get hurt. Those dogs don’t last long. I’m sad to say I’ve seen former baiting dogs who managed to either escape or survive to be freed. Some were covered in scars that never healed, & I remember one who had nerve damage in her paws. And that “vet” is a disgrace. No true vet could ever participate in such barbaric acts. Vets are bound by patient confidentiality, however, they can get animal control involved if they suspect dog fighting. The same person brings the same animals in over & over again for the exact same wounds, you will get suspicious.
It’s always money, even here the vet tech says he owed to loan sharks. He probably hated himself for treating fighting dogs but to him it’s either him beaten up or killed or treat the dogs to keep off the loan sharks
Funny you should mention baiting animals - there's another episode (clips of it are on this channel) where dog fighting leads to a murder inquiry, as a human finger is found inside one of the dogs. The only reason they find the fight in the first place is one of the stolen bait animals had a microchip, and the owners found where it was.
Thank you so much for this!!! I own two pits and have rescued 5 dogs and somehow been able to rehabilitate 3 w the help of others(no formal training on my end I just got lucky and wouldn’t give up) it is 2000% on the person, the amount of trauma they’re inflicting on these animals, it’s disgusting
“Prison? You expect us to go to prison?” “My clients aren’t interested in any jail time, your honor.” What a coincidink- the victim wasn’t interested in being mauled to death in a park, either!

My friend had a pit. He looked intimidating as hell, but he was a big sweetheart. Was devastating when he was dognapped, but they found him some time later on, though it was clear he'd been used in fights. I don't know if was month or years because memory plays time tricks, but thankfully he was largely okay, and didn't lose his sweet demeanor.
Anyone with a pit bull is an idiot. Yeah..sweet dog..yeah right up until they aren’t. Did you know that home owners insurance as well and any property insurance prohibits having such dogs on the property….any of these aggressive dogs…sweet or other wise. Know why? Because insurance companies are really good at knowing where the high risk is and avoiding it. Does your landlord know you have that dog? Be prepared to be evicted…and with very good cause. No court will stop that eviction. Stop trying to tell people that they are sweet dogs…they are not. They a bred for one purpose..and have been bred for that purpose for so long and these dogs are all a genetically selected breed for aggression.
@@deborahschumann8286pits aren't the problem, humans are. I've helped rehab fighting dogs. Most stay dog aggressive, some to the point where yes, the needed to be put down. Some can be retrained. That was one helluva slick way to convince a jury. No matter what any evidence said or arguments were brought forward, they'd still be thinking about that snarling, lunging dog...and how his own owners recoiled in terror. McCoy, you genius, you~👏 👏 👏
A great episode that showed the vicious human side of dog fighting. And to those who thought Vick should get chance after chance in the NFL: This is the reality of what he did to the dogs he owned. You'd be surprised some people actually want to go to prison, because it's all they know. Sometimes they want to eat or have a place to sleep even. Sometimes to even just escape a situation.
I have owned two rescue pit bulls. They were both sweethearts, but I would not leave them with small children or frail elderly. They never gave me cause for that, but I never placed them in a situation I couldn't control.
Two things: One: that dog is clearly having fun with his acting career, but has such a hard time staying in character that the sound techs end up having to dub in lots of snarling. On a show as usually high-quality as L&O, the clear dubbing is hilarious to me. Who's a good actor? Who's a good ferocious beast? You are! Two: so the defense is pinned on the idea that the dog is not normally vicious, but was provoked? Um, did they REALLY think the prosecution wouldn't check that? That seems like such a simple defense to torpedo, and that's the best you got? You can tell at the end that the judge is out of patience with this whole thing, but is more annoyed at the idiot entitled couple than he is at McCoy's usual stuntwork.
I laughed so hard As someone who currently owns a 60lb pitbull and a 3lb chihuahua. When the attorney mockingly says “a 70lb pitbull afraid of a little terrier?!” Lol. Yes. 100%. Every day, in every scenario.
money, it's always only ever been about money and psychopaths who enjoy watching things die, people with no moral compass, the kinda person who would kill someone if they knew they could get away with it but instead they settle for hunting for sport, chicken fights and dog fighting
A professionally trained personal protection dog will set you back at least $35,000. The dog is raised in a home as a puppy, socialised, goes to puppy classes and has to pass the gold standard Kennel Club canine good citizen. Only after that will protection training start. The training takes 2 years. But you have a wonderful dog that's will be gentle with children,be a wonderful companion as well as a loyal protector. Buying a dog that looks tough and has been trained to attack only is very dangerous, you have no off switch. At the end of the day, this couple knew the dog was dangerous, didn't call an ambulance for the woman or get the other dog to vet to at least see if it could be saved or humanely euthanized. This makes them guilty of manslaughter, 2-6 years in prison should be considered a gift. Manslaughter can carry a life sentence.
This always makes me laugh the dog is all happy wagging tail wanting it to say hello to everyone, but they put the sounds of a aggressive dog to it and thats supposed to make it look like a aggressive dog. It doesn't quite work when the dog looks like its just wanting to play and say hello lol
I read a long time ago that this episode was based on the true case of 2 Presa Canarios named Bane and Hera. Very sad case. the dogs originally belonged to an inmate and his attorney took custody of the dogs. the dogs then mauled a woman to death.
Anyone who enables, gets entertainment from or has apathy towards dog fighting is nothing more than a complete psychopath. Society does not need people like that.
People still allow their dogs off leash in Central Park. If there's even a minor bite, it's $100,000 in damages, and homeowner's insurance DOES NOT COVER IT!
The sad thing is, some people buy attack dogs. Then they buy the service dog harnesses, and take them out for walks. If the dog growls and or bites anyone, they claim that the dog is a service dog and is only protecting the owner. In reality, trained service dogs do NOT bark, growl, or bite. They are trained NOT to do so, and to help the owner. If you see a dog that's aggressive with a service dog harness, call the police immediately. Also helps to take a photo of the dog in question, incase the owner flees the area with said dog.
That’s such bullshit, I can’t believe that some people would actually do that. Service dogs are supposed to stay 100% focused on their owner and they NEVER show any aggression. The only time a service dog is ever supposed to approach a stranger is when their owner is in immediate danger and needs help. Service dogs go under several months of rigorous training, and if they’re too playful, easily distracted or aggressive then they’re not qualified to become a service animal. Sadly though not a lot of people know much about how service dogs are supposed to behave, probably because they haven’t been around a lot of them.
I recall the case this was based on. The Diane Whipple death. It was so horrific, they had to clean up the story for TV. The dogs were Presa Canarios, much bigger and more dangerous than pit bulls. The lawyer couple were helping the Nazis because it gave them a thrill. The female lawyer was committing bestiality with the male dog, and sending pics to her clients in prison.
@@odinfromcentr2 exactly what you think. You can Google it. The lawyers names are Noel and Marjorie Knoller. The female dog killed Whipple because she saw her as competition for the male dog. Sexual jealousy.

I felt sorry for the dog ever since it had to endure the torture of those illegal Dog fights. I knew it had to be put down cause there was no way it can return to normal.
Please upload more scenes from this episode! This is one of my favorite episodes because they don’t fully blame the dog for what happened. They blame the humans who handled and trained the dogs/dog to kill. Bad dogs are not born, they are made. And if you notice how the woman talks about the dog compared to others. She calls the dog - it or a good animal. I’m a owner of 4 dogs. And I never once call any of them ‘it or animal’. Not once even when mad at them destroying one of their toys or messing with anything they shouldn’t in the house or yard at all. Just the way the woman alone speaks of the dog shows that her and her husband were never truly the owner of the dog like they say they were. They did crime and knew what they were doing. Thanks for uploading.
Kinda happened in France. A couple got a pitbull while it was illegal in France (they went to another country). The women was found in the woods scalped and mauled to death. She was also pregant... The husband was trying to save his dog and accused the hunting dogs. She was indeed close and probably met the huntings dogs... however, the investigation showed the viciouseness of the couple's dog. Officially the dog was not a pitbull but once they discovered it was, they saw the couple was fascinated by this type of dog and trained it to bit and mauled objects (which is a banned training for civilians). The dog was prey driven. What happened is that they trained a dog to bite and once it heard the huntings dogs it wanted to go to them, which the woman tried to prevent. The result was that it frustrated the dog and it attacked the pregnant woman... The bottomline is those dogs are dangerous but they are turned to weapons by people that think they have control while they don't...the terrible thing is the husband took no ownership in what happened and they had other buff dogs like the one that murdered his wife and child to be born...(it was also dumb to ask the lady to walk such powerful dog in her condition...)
i liked how you could see the dog playing and chewing on the poles because the dog is actually really nice and wagging their tail alot and they are trying to be gentle with the dog dispite having to put them into the cage
I feel the intense need to remind people that pits tend to be calm and loving unless they are abused a great deal. I had a one eyed pit that wanted nothing but love and closeness despite being abused and dumped in a trash can. Unfortunately I had to give it to the Humane Society since it kept breaking out during the day to play with the apartment complex kids. They all loved it.
“Breaking out to play with the apartment complex kids” Sounds about right. There was an older Australian Cattle Dog down the street from us. If a thunderstorm (unexpectedly) rolled in and her parents weren’t home, she’d escape their yard. After the first time, maybe two, that we were the ones to get her into our yard then house, she learned to come to us in such situations. So I would sometimes be on the couch, doing kid things (reading, gaming, homework, watching the TV), and I would look over through the glass back door, and see her standing there, staring half-blindly in. “Come on in, ya poor thing, let’s get you dried off.”
Absolutely.ANY dog can made to be aggressive,it’s just unfortunate that because they were bred to be powerful so that when they are they do become incredibly dangerous.they weren’t just breeding them to be powerful though they were also bred to be eager to please so that they would be more receptive to their masters and therefore much easier to train and shape into whatever was desired because the dog just wanted to make their owner happy, master wants them to be aggressive and treats them as such they become aggressive to appease it.or maybe their master wants them to be their best friend ,protector and loving companion?well ,good news, they are already predisposed to be and will seek that in anyway that the master dictates regardless.unfortunately though while stupid people exist there will be a bias against this sort of dog because of those who, abuse the afore mentioned quantities for a status symbol or sport. I have had 2 rescue bully’s,1 of which was abused and isolated for her entire life before being left at the shelter and despite that she quickly adapted to a loving home and learned the behaviours we wanted to see and those we didn’t,she never hurt /threatened us,ever, even when she had a painful brain tumour.the other was an old boy on his way out and despite many health issues and pain still never even growled.they are the most loving ,soft little teddy bears of dogs I’ve ever met and truly seem to spend their existence trying to please us. People are looking at the wrong end of the lead.dogs were bred to do a lot of things in the past,it dosent mean they are automatically destined to do that job or task when they are born ,they were bred for certain qualities, not certain careers.
They now CGI dogs tails to make them not wag, when the dog actor is pretending to be viscous - because they keep wagging as they're happy to be doing a good job.
I remember this episode. IT'S NOT THE DOG that is the problem. It's the owners, or in this particular case, it is the fact that the owners are lawyers who bought the dog from their convict client who was training these dogs to fight. My brother had 2 pitbulls, and I had a doberman pinscher, who sadly are no longer with us and were lovable and very protective lumps. I would call them lumps cause they'd sit on my foot or my clumsy a** would trip over them. I currently have a 5 year old pit/american bulldog mix and a 15 month old beagle girl. The dog is a saint and very protective. Even for tolerating the puppy's behavior. It burns him out, but I know he cares about the pup despite her foolishness.

This whole trial was about whether or not the dog was knowingly dangerous. I feel like it was absolutely necessary to bring the dog in and it's ridiculous that that caused a miss-trial. It's like saying that showing a video of a defendant committing the crime they were accused of, especially a grizzly crime, would be too prejudicial to show in trial. Absolute nonsense.
Its allowing a hyper-skittish dog into a environment that is both terrified and made to be in fight mode on propose, that is actively harming the dog, and being a danger to everyone around, even muzzled. Its animal abuse at that point. A testimony from an expert is all that's needed without putting the dog in harms way, so it can atleast be put in a calm environment before its euthanized. I used to work in non-discriminatory kennels, so I dont enjoy making a spectacle of a skittish/ dangerous dogs. The whole episode just feels wrong, lol.
In the end the dog got the worst punishment considering it killed a person it had to be euthanized. In reality it was the owners fault for turning their own animal into a killer.
Judges dont like stunts but in this case the judge saw what mc coy was getting at and that the defence metaphorically opened the door by claiming it was a moment of madness and not the vicious killer the prosecution claimed it was. The dog proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendants were lying.
Love that the dog actor seems to be having the time of its life. Looking around, eyes bright, wanting to go check everything and everyone out. If the added growls and such weren't added it would just look like a joyful pup.
People need to be honest about the fact that bully breeds, no matter how sweet and gentle they are, are bred to fight and kill. They have a bite force on par with a grizzly bear, and once they decide to attack, it is very difficult to emerge from the encounter alive.

It’s like being an arms manufacturer except the guns have a mind (of a roided out 1 year old) of their own
All dog owners should be legally required to pet and hug their dogs
That gets you angrier than other offenders? Really? I think humans who are victims are more important.

Except they cannot and it is ridiculous if anything thinks it is actually true.
That's really awful.
It’s always money, even here the vet tech says he owed to loan sharks. He probably hated himself for treating fighting dogs but to him it’s either him beaten up or killed or treat the dogs to keep off the loan sharks
And in this essay, I will.

One: that dog is clearly having fun with his acting career, but has such a hard time staying in character that the sound techs end up having to dub in lots of snarling.

This episode is old.
Not once even when mad at them destroying one of their toys or messing with anything they shouldn’t in the house or yard at all.

Jack: Bruh
Lawyer: Objection
Judge: Ill allow it. Bruh
“Ay, your animal control, control it.”
Those words were powerful.
Sometimes, the dogs are better actors than the humans 😉 nice work Law and Order
Ahhh, yes!
They're always sweet. They're always gentle. They're always baby angels, nanny doggies, walking plushies... until they, giving no earlier warning signs WHATSOEVER, tear someone's throat out or go on a hours long rampage, attacking everyone and everything they see 🤣
It’s the way they’re raised.
@@HeronCoyote1234 😂
@@SapphiresenthissSTOP BEING DOGGY RACIST!!! Do some research before you say stupid things idiot, it is they way they are raised! I’ve had multiple pit bulls all raised by me or my mom NONE OF THEM NOT ONE have gone crazy and hurt someone
'You're animal control, control it.'
Way to micromanage, Det. Briscoe
"It's that kind of thinking that got you two life sentences."
I expect there's not much they can threaten him with if he's already a lifer.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this episode, but I believe he became more compliant when they mention the death penalty.
@@sparkshark789 I assume you mean "compliant."
That makes sense, thank you!
@@UA-camallowedmynametobestolen I’ll fix that right now
@@sparkshark789 Thanks, sparkshark. Now I'll be able to sleep at night!
😉
That's because a "life sentence" can get out in as little as 10 years. I've seen it. I saw a triple murderer get out in 17 years.
It's Michael Vic in this episode 😂
3:16 "Hey Chief, they look pretty angry." "Yeah, I know. I've been starving them, teasing them, singing off key. Mi mai my mo, me moo mah me. AAAAAH."
3:07 Lenny trying to calm the dog
3:13
Ok, c'mon I can't be the only one laughing at that ake barking...maybe it's because I've been around a lot of pitbulls or dogs in general...but that sweet doggo clearly was playing around. Very violent and aggressive dogs don't jump around like that...in my experiences they're very deliberate and don't move unless it knows when to attack. They're smarter than we give credit.
The judge at the last second pulled a fast Lenny Briscoe’s one-liners
the thing you never want a cop to say in response to a question?
"you'll see."
😂😂😂😂😂😂
That dog is having the time of its life playing! That snarling audio track though
In the end the dog got the worst punishment considering it killed a person it had to be euthanized. In reality it was the owners fault for turning their own animal into a killer.
I think the innocent women and the one woman's pup got it the worst
@@pattibrown7989 That too.
I say euthanize the evil people whom trained the dog to be a killer along with the vicious canine.
I just ask what happened to the dog so he got put to sleep
Pit Bulls are Killers
Gives a whole new meaning to the term doggy bag.... Favorite quote of the whole series.
I know very little about law and courts, but I 100% believe you can’t bring a dog into court without any permission.
It was a calculated risk, ultimately the judge gave permission.
Grizzly is 1,160psi, pitbulls is 240-330.
Don’t spread lies.
I’m way more concerned about men walking the street than any dog.
Pit bulls were originally bred for bull fighting/baiting hence the name
"On par with a grizzly bear"
I’m sure that lady wasn’t interested in dying that day either! JAIL!
Before Covid, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Waterston in Beverly Hills when he was visiting Los Angeles. We spent some time together with my friend who happens to be an actress. What I can relate is that he is among the finest and classiest gentlemen I have ever met. He laughed when I asked him if people he met on the street ask him for legal advice. He said, all the time, but I am in real life an actor.
Omg! That actor is from The Flash. Love him! He plays so many incredible roles. I haven't watched L&O in years and forgot he was in this show!!
"We're not interested in jail time your honor" Me: no one is but they still have to go
Im sorry, they “aren’t interested in jail time”!? The heck? If you break a law you go to jail, that’s how it works! It’s not optional. The laws the law.
I don't think I could ever be as calm as these actors if I recently found out someone I loved was killed
