Love the chocolate fabric and the pattern with the A line dresses and jackets! Enjoy yourself! Get a fruity cocktail, find a lounge chair, and kick back. Last time I visited family in FL walmart and hobby lobby had some great finds. Maybe mail your buys home, so you don't have to worry about the extra luggage? Enjoy your time with your daughter!
Hi Viv, I checked every day to see if you are on. You are so much fun! You brighten my day or evening. Many years ago my husband and I were traveling through different states and when we would come upon a fabric store we would have to stop. My sweet husband is so sweet. I bought so much fabric that my husband had to go buy a car top carrier to put it in. I had young children then and sew for them and my husband and myself. I sewed every one of the fabrics I bought!

This was a great vid! I loved seeing all of your finds. Also that Ritz is a beautiful place to stay! I've had the joy of staying there once and it was definitely worth it! Love the excellent service, and the fact they have a spot of beachfront that is private. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit here! I understand that it never feels like Christmas in South Florida, because it is so warm! I love living here exactly for that reason -- it is always warm -- even when everyone else has snow and ice up north. We referred to it as "Living in Paradise" exactly for that reason!

I just did the Simplicity 8752, wanted it for a long time, because of the ruffle. I am $7 and still love them, did the middle ruffle as well. Omg, it so adorable.
always try on the newest styles you will learn so much! I opened my custom tailor shop the next season after our trip to Naples Florida. I keep all my old date books with sketches of the new things I found when traveling.

Thank you Viv. My neices and my sister live in Florida and Ive been down there working myself. Winter indeed doesnt feel like Winter allot of the time. When I was there it actually dove down to 40 degrees at one point, which was quite surprising. Some place up and down the coast have the most gorgeous white sand on the beaches. I think Ill ask my niece to send me out some spanish moss. I wonder if that stuff will grow in a pot. Try to get out in the sun but be careful. The sun is real tricky there. If you stay exposed for 1/2 hour you have sun poisoning before you know it. Stay safe and protected. And have some fun for us.

Oh I love the elk material!!!! I see the elk on the road all the time! I work in the mountains. I love to see you pick patterns. Then I don’t have to waste hours looking for patterns. Good picks! Just trying to find time to see again. I’m really self conscious as well. I totally know what you mean.

I recently bought two a-line tank tops from a store that had a horrible smell to them. I didn't notice the smell when I bought them, but after several washings and hanging outside of a closet, the odor is still there. I've never had this problem before. I will probably try and return them. I hope you have better luck. Your pacing of displaying fabrics and patterns is just fine. Have fun.

Hi Vivmom! Shout out to Sue McEvoy who suggested that you can possibly use Joanne's classroom for possibly cutting out material. You may want to checkout the library. They to have rooms with long tables that would be great for laying out your material. I bet even the Ritz C. Would allow you to use an available room! Lol! I guess you could wash the material at a local laundromat and get started! By the way, that material for husband's robe will be awesome! Love the way you show your patterns. Your timing is perfect! I would find it difficult not doing anything. I think I'd have to purchase some scissors and pins. I'd start cutting the patterns out and then, assuming I had a fabric to go with the pattern I would be pinning and cutting the fabric. So that when I got home I'd be straight into the sewing vibe. Chuckle.
Mind you I guess if you are flying home scissors and pins are a no no. 😂🤣😂🤣😍

A tip for packing is to roll everything. You can get WAY more in a bag than you think, it’s the way we pack in the Army. Great picks, love the French terry 😍

Love the twinkle just the weight for winter. You need to ice,them hot toddies lol. Wash that top in shampoo put it on a coat hanger. Dry in no time. I have experienced your kind of day a while back, staying busy in-room or out and about shopping while the hubs was working all day. I did, however, appreciate the change of scenery from the severe cold and snow up North to the boardwalk on Miami Beach- and a great resort we probably would never have experienced! Awesome! I am all the way up in WI in the freezing cold. Sunny Naples sounds great! Funny I bought 2 do those same fabrics yesterday. The burgundy knit for a Blackwood and the deer fabric for a Southbank! The price was right! I also got the burgundy knit velvet and made a beautiful dress for my granddaughter....it sewed up so nice. I’ve been thinking I should go back for the black for me! Happy vacation to you!

I spent half my life in a sunny winter climate...but am used to colder climate now..as a snowbird a few years ago Florida was like home...flat ground ..palm trees and ocean...enjoy your vacation...

hi Thanks for the great video. I've sewn all the pieces from 8748 and it was very straight forward. I used a not too heavy Ponte and was nervous the sleeves would be weird but they drape enough and look really cute. The pants have a really nice steam line cut and would love to do them again in a dark wash stretch denim. Btw we have a similar build so I think you'd like the fit.

I have a printed polyester/Lycra that was 3.00 a yd and a rayon/acetate corded suiting that was also 3.00 a yd. Now you're telling me about Hobby Lobby Fabric 😂😂😂. When I travelled a couple of months ago for my work and did some fabric shopping, it was cheaper to pay the USPS flat rate shipping cost to get my fabric splurge home than to buy a carry-on.

I hit my Hobby Lobby Monday and bought some of the same patterns. I also bought that black tweed sparkle French terry. The bolt said hand wash and lay flat to dry. Yeah, right. I’ve already washed and dried it and it’s fine. Just don’t put anything in the washer with it (at least not the first time) or you will end up with white fuzz balls on everything. Trust me, not what you want.

Lovely fabric haul as usual. I love that elegant drapey fabric. I wonder what you will do with that. Just think about what you will be sewing next and forget about the cold before you know it will be gone. Failing that try a hot toddy.

I was at hobby lobby too, picked out some of the same patterns. I also got some of that woven twinkle fabric. Thinking of making a jumper or dress with it. They had a top out of it in the store, but no pattern numbers, ugh. She said just look through the books, right!!!?

2. You have very good taste in matching the material that goes with the pattern.
3. Almost all of the stuff is sewn perfect.
I m not sure where I will see my reply or when or how not very computer savvy but anyway I love watching and get a kick out of your hot flashes have had them for 15 years and I just turned 60 and still get them every 4 to 5 hours regularly.
Anyway would love to see you cut , adjust and sew patterns more, also I m wondering why don’t you cut and sew the garments out of muslin first and then save that.

You’re right that I don’t make muslins or mock-ups. For this reason, I don’t like to buy expensive fabric. I love good quality fabric that I pounce on when it’s marked down. I cut right into my patterns and fabric - I usually don’t plan to revisit either one. But I do repeat patterns if I really love them.🌺

There are some cheap bags that you can buy that have multi use. Supermarkets here in Western Australia are now required by law to supply recyclable shopping bags. So the supermarkets sell us for a about 15 cents AUD very large recyclable shopping bags.
I traveled through western Europe in 2007 and some of my carry on luggage was not hard wearing travel gear. I had a big thick plastic bag similar to the recyclable shopping bags that supermarkets are now selling cheaply for 15 cents, that obtained when buying stuff on my travels. I used thick this plastic bag as on board luggage. But you will need to make sure that the aeroplane company you are flying with will accept the thick supermarket shopping bags as on board luggage - as a flight attendant saw my bag did correctly fit into their onboard luggage requirements, but he ignored my make-do onboard luggage bag.

What about snoop shopping at clothing stores? It would be a great way for you to try on different styles and help you see what might look especially nice on you that you might not ordinarily choose to sew. I actually packed my Burda magazines and paper for my husband's business trips and traced off patterns in my free time. Hope you have a safe trip home.
Do you do any crafts that can be taken with you very easily like crochet or knitting?
If YES - doing some crochet or knitting may help stop you from being lonely and going shopping for things you do not need.
concise. fun. swoon......so are you aware there is a magazine called Threads that is devoted to couture sewing techniques? :D run to walmart and get the $79 brother machine and get busy. I did that last trip! Leave it as a bonus for the staff or put it in the box and take it home. Great light machine. (would returning it be weird? I gave mine to a cousin)

I always wash/rinse my lightweight garmets in the bathroom sink after wearing. Washing machine just causes too much wear and tear on a top like your new one.

For those pants, L R, I would use a ponte knit, beefy sweater knit (super warm - but nothing too thick, just something not see thru), stretchy wovens...or if you want a poolside vibe, choose a lightweight floaty poly knit.😄👍

Love the deer "not fleece"! Those would make great lounger pants for my hubs. Did you do the 2018 Ready to Wear FAST? I joined and did great until Nov. Can you believe it? But I lost 35 lbs and now nothing fits and I had to break down and buy clothes. I've put S 8794 on my must buy list. I've shopped at Pomenade too. Great shop! Do what I do when I travel...I take an empty suitcase with me just for fabric! lol
Oh what a happy problem to have - 35 lbs down is fabulous, Power Tools! Congratulations! I did the fast and found it quite easy. This trip I’ve really been examining a lot of store clothes and I am just amazed at the cheap fabric. Cute items, complicated overlays and cut outs, but that fabric!! It is truly paper thin. And the knits smell funky.😭

Yuck. I know that funky smell. Two items I bought this year had it, both knits. It never came out. Into the garbage. Bodes the question WHAT are "They" putting into the fabrics or processing them with? Future toxic tore cases. Who knows, but the stink factor is running amuck amongst the knits. I thought I was the only one who noticed with my super sniffer. UPS the fabric home, it will be there when you get home to work on the robe and you won't have to carry it. Love the high waisted Jacket. Lovely! I need that for work. Love wide legged pants that go with it. I'd wear those to work too. Have a lovely time with your daughter! Enjoy the beach!!!

You are too funny, I also have a daughter that does a good amount of traveling andI think I will be going to Tampa with her soon! she is also concerned that while she works , I will be bored--- oh no, I will find fabric, craft , quilting store and have a ball!!
