Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎
Proud to say that my wife and I were of the crazy people who wrote letters in your behalf to the National Parks Office.
Thanks so much for helping make this possible 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you

it's really sad that people just hate seeing other people happy....
thanks for helping K&N..

Sooo epic of you guys to do this! @karaandnate you have by FAR the sweetest fans! 💗 love seeing this kind of positivity!!
When Kara fell I thought "that's not funny, she could've been hurt". Then it played in slow-mo and I became a laughing hypocrite.
Same.
I so agree ❗❗
Lol it was funny!!
Totally agree TheCronedoggy, but then when she started laughing after falling and the slow moe version played I laughed so hard I cried... Have to say that is why I watch these 2, they always give me a reason to smile/laugh and forget about any negitives of the day.. :)
Was already in slow motion dah
Unfortunately they reversed this ruling and now we can't film in National Parks again... So frustrating
Probably because of people Nate was talking about

I appreciate the addition of C temps for the non-Americans

High five to the independent filmmaker for suing for the right for UA-camrs and other small groups to be able to film national parks
Hi guys that was awesome, I really enjoyed watching your video in Yellowstone park. I live in New Zealand so we don’t have bison or wolves. Those bison are so huge I’m sure they could do some damage to the vehicle?! I love your personalities... they shone through the whole time and made watching your video so awesome . Keep up the good work guys and stay safe 😊👍🏻
Exactly! It’s actually good free marketing for the Parks to let independent filmmakers capture their experiences. That’s why I couldn’t believe it when they got in trouble last year. It seemed nuts!
@@lisahyman6563 Wow, those bison were really something weren't they?! I can't believe what a gorgeous part of America this is, it's just so stunning. I've never seen this couple. I have to catch up on where they've been...really nice to film these for viewers. Her fall was so funny and she was such a good sport!😊

So glad people fought this and got this rule changed for non-damaging people to be able to film in National Parks! They're just too beautiful and everyone should be able to see them!! We just spent a few days filming in Everglades National Park where we saw 111 Alligators in our 15 mile bike ride!
Looking forward to seeing more National Park videos from you all!
I agree. Not everyone is able to visit a NP either for financial or physical mobility reasons. These videos enable everyone to at least get a taste of what the national parks have to offer.
I agree, and those fines were ridiculous.
Ikr they are literally promoting the park!!!! Wtf is wrong with them?!!! Now Ik i won't ever film them at all! Don't give them promotion if they treat ppl like this!!!
@@ArtIsDrawing they changed the rules.....
It’s always good to see policy wonks who haphazardly violate citizens first amendment rights get slapped around by the Supreme Court. Most Americans will never visit Yellowstone, and videographers like Kara and Nate improve access - virtually. Every subscriber that watches this video has now visited the park with zero environmental impact. Everybody wins.
Nate waving the camping permit around and my mind immediately went "I've got a golden ticket!"
I am so pleased to hear about the new guidelines - they make more sense! National Parks belong to everyone and you shouldn't have to jump through expensive hoops to film them and share them with your viewers. Congratulations!
I disagree. You are right the parks are for everyone. So your “ rights” should not infringe on mine.
@@billywill903 so you think you shouldn't be able to film in national parks easily? i see
@@billywill903Everyone has a constitutional right to film in public. Filming in public is not an infringement of your rights.
Why do so many of Americans trash our Beautiful National Parks?
@@coriiiiii2558 There IS a difference between commercial and personal filming. If you’re making money off of it, yeah, there should be permits required. The money helps the park. Just like wilderness permits do when you want to camp out on the trail.

Hi Kara & Nate. I know you will probably never see this and I’ve never left a comment, but I just wanted to let you both know you know how you have truly changed my life. I picked up your videos a couple of years ago when planning & saving to travel the world (and totally binged them all) during that time you inspired me & your travel hacks helped me plan. 3 years of hardcore saving later my world trip starting April 2020 was cancelled ( Literally 1 week before my flight the UK locked down) I’m so privileged to have my health & be with family but financially this year has been difficult and at the same time I’ve felt so lost & down this past year. I’m 29 and I’m back to square 1. A few days ago, I found your channel again, started watching your van series & it’s moved me to tears. I feel like I sense of hope again for travel, that I can still pursue my dreams again one day and when things go bad don’t give up! I don’t know how I could ever repay you for helping me find hope in myself again. Im determined to follow in your footsteps and make my dreams a reality soon! I’ll certainly be a new patreon 👍🏽 thank you again, Han x
Dont feel down your young and beautiful 29 is nothing I'm 30. You can fo whatever you put your mind to lovely. Where you planning on going anywhere nice xx
You can do it! Keep pushing, you will turn your travel dreams into reality!
Same story. Had planned our first international trip in 2020. Our kid was 10, it was our 20th anniversary, and the last year before I turned 40...and then 2020 happened. 😬
I can't complain horribly, as we exited 2020 healthy and financially sound, but having to indefinitely postpone was disappointing

Postponing is a bit disappointing but we too have again moved our plans to 2023 bc restrictions. We have an itinerary and it’s lovingly been tweeked. Will get to go in 2023!
I have so much respect for Kara and Nate for taking their time to edit and film this video and they do it so well!

Love the video. One thing I want to mention regarding your Simply Safe system, it looked like you mounted the carbon monoxide detector high on the wall. Carbon monoxide is heavier than air, for your safety the detector should be mounted low near the floor otherwise the room will fill up with carbon monoxide before the sensor will detect the gas. Stay safe and I look forward to more videos.
omg, this is such good news! Honesty, we've gone through the permit process before and it was sooooo stupid! I'm so happy to see this changed! Gosh, now this makes me wanna take a trip down to the USA with our van ! :P

You guys should get a parks passport book! They allow you to stamp which parks you have been to in each region of the country! It is so fun to fill it up like a normal passport and buying one helps support the parks themselves! It would be so cool to watch you guys stamp at each park and see it full up as you go!
I concur. Just make sure to NEVER stamp your regular passport with a state park stamp or others like it.

I am so glad you are doing the States. I have travelled to 53 countries and all 50 States and the States are absolutely incredible. It is amazing how little Americans know about their own country. Can't wait to see what's next
I’m shocked Nate and Kara that you got fined for filming in Yellowstone. There’s are countless people who visit National Parks throughout the year, also when my family visited several breathtaking parks in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona Nevada I was constantly photographing and taking videos. The Park Rangers not only encouraged us to take pictures, they told us where in the park had the most beautiful views to photograph.UA-cam creators are actually a huge promoter of the park as well, because if you’ve never visited many National Parks in the United States these videos help tremendously. Thank you Nate and Kara for sharing your content with the world. Blessings and safe travels throughout all your adventures together ❤
The main difference is that when you, your family or the "countless people" you refer to are taking images, they are most likely not being used for commercial purposes or monetary gain. The Park Service has always encouraged that type of image gathering. Nate and Kara's channel is monetized and that's where they got into trouble and were fined. Nate does a great job of explaining this from about 3:30 to 8:00 in this video.
I've also taken many images of beautiful sites that I've visited in federaly-managed park land and have posted them to my UA-cam channel. My channel is not monetized and there is no commercial intent or purpose. So, no problem. If I wanted to make money off of those images and had not obtained the proper permit(s) before doing so, then I too would be subject to a fine.
Granted, those rules do not work real well or fairly for many current "content creators" and were due the changes that came about as a result of the lawsuit brought by Mr. Price. There is still likely an appropriate place for the permiting process for SOME types of photo taking and video production done in the national parks but it appears that Judge Kollar-Kotelley did a good job with her ruling in distinguishing the difference between those types of productions and those that appear on this channel and the channels of many other content creators.
When the bison grunted right after Kara asked it a question was so cute, it was like they were communicating 😂😭💗
You guys are so much more respectful than a lot of other youtube filmers! Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's ✨ good ✨. I personally just really appreciated you clarifying that. Love watching your videos and can't wait to see more national park content!
They're so cute. I've been hooked to this channel for years and it's not just the travel that keeps me coming back.
I’m so happy you can film in the National Parks now! This was absolutely beautiful footage. ❤️
Kara's fall could not have been any funnier! Thanks for the slowmo, and the fact that she wasn't hurt! Xxoo
Mr. Price, where ever you are: Thank you! It always takes one to fight the system. People owe a lot of gratitude to Mr. Price for being that one, in this situation.

Glad to hear that your issues are resolved! Hopefully, this means more content for us viewers :)
So happy for you guys that you've been able to over-come the National Park issue! With some still not comfortable to travel or not affording it themselves ppl can vicariously live through you to see these destinations. Also you help bring businesses, and most likely Parks more business, as your freely advertising their locations, events, amenities, and experiences for others to check out! You'd think they'd see the Symbolic Relationship there, rather than trying to fine ppl.

I also ski (from Germany) it honestly hurt me seeing them ski without a trainer especially on their first time
I am so glad that the filming issue was sorted out, as a Brit that loves your videos & US national parks I look forward to seeing more of them.
I like the ones that show up and proceed to talk on their phones not even paying attention to where they are. Just as bad are the time-lapse people who have to be reminded their camera has a silent mode.
The last time a guy at a ski store told them it was no big deal was on a deadly glacier in Europe. I'd say this guy was much more accurate in his description.
Those bison were clearly telling you “this is our campsite and we let you use it from time to time”.

Hey just letting you guys know you should probably put your carbon monoxide detector lower to the ground / around or under hip waste. Unlike smoke carbon monoxide does not rise and it blends in with normal air you wont feel it untill its too late. Which means that if you place the detector above your head level it is not a good idea just letting you know you should place the carbon monoxide detector hip level or below. @ Kara and Nate
sorry but that's potentially dangerous advice! Carbon monoxide is fractionally lighter than air, so it rises. Also, because it's produced by incomplete combustion / faulty appliances it will be warm, meaning it will naturally rise through convection currents. Most manufacturers suggest locating the detector at head height or above. As always, follow the manufacturers advice not what someone online says- either me or mr frosty above.
