To be honest this is the best way to learn how to drive on snow. Quiet roads and be sensible, then you get the feel of a slide and how to handle it. Well done , great video.

“No other cars available”, drives past dad’s BMW... 😂
(I assume he had to go to work or something)
Edit: 100% correct. Although, classic car isn’t the only thing. My C1 has tiny tyres, like your MG and the whole ESC can be turned off so it is pretty good on snow and ice, so long as I’m not a twat 🤗

Trying to drive my modern AMG in the recent snow and its been totally useless. Even with TC off, crash avoidance off, DCT in manual mode. The computer still keeps trying to take over.
Took my sons old Saab 9000 Turbo out in the snow and it was wicked. None of this modern computer control rubbish.

Sam Spencer doubt it. AMG just don't encourage sideways action in their cars, even with all the electronics turned off.

Agree, in my experience, for the most part, cars up to 2000 are pretty good in snow, but a lot comes down to the driver, slow and gentle is the key for most occasions.

The most Fun I've ever had driving in the snow is when I owned a 1972 Cadillac coupe Deville, massive ruddy car near 2,5 Tons of fun and I did powers slides and donuts in a Empty parking lot in the snow you will truly feel alive when you have 7 feet of hood flying around in the snow.

I've found in a FWD car TC helps tremendously (that and wide tyres, good tyres etc) as i've never felt more in control at any speed. Indeed...to have any fun at speed you need it all turned off but from a safety point of view i've never felt so in control with a wide profile, controlled grip and all that be it up or downhill :). Neat video though you had way more snow than us.

Given the weather You might need a little choke (strangler ) pulled on.In those conditions easy on the gas ,easy on the brakes. If You lock the brakes ,pump them rapidly.Live in upstate NY,just had a foot of wet sticky snow yesterday. But the temp is above freezing today, means a lot of meltGood hydroplaning conditions in the wet. Thanks that we have radial ply tires to make the wet conditons a lot safer..

I went out in the worst in my 1984 Ford Capri 2.0 S, handled everything mother nature could throw at it perfectly, and was a ton of fun when i acted like a plum and did some sideways snow skids. People dont give old cars enough credit, my old girl performed flawlessly. As long as you drive according to the conditions there shouldn't ever be an issue with this type of weather and its pathetic how everything grinds to a halt and everyone panics when it does.

I done this years with my 1973 Jaguar XJ6, No problem at all, The only problem is Heater and wipers but this is common problem on British classic cars, you can not find one with working heater except Rolls Royces and Benteleys, also British carburetor are bad in winter, using some drops on fuel on them before starting helps a better start.

Trouble is the snow just highlights that people can't drive in normal conditions. They get by with driver aids and conditions saving them.. the only thing people I give a bit of slack is lorry drivers because although you can drive them in the snow the drive tyres are focused so much on economy that they don't offer much in the way of grip.
