  • I've waited a long time to try out the little car in the snow albeit very carefully. It was fun making this and we were visited by a couple of little British car admirers. A fun afternoon out and after all, why not?

A "pull handle" 65 MGB... very rare.
Are you sure it is a 65 which began in Oct of 1964.. or a 1964 not sold until 65 and registered as same ?
I note the much later rubber faced bumper guards.
    MGB.. Made to be driven.
I drive my 1963 anytime any where, well within the threshold of safety of course.
Nice car, good short story.. Hats off to your tenacity and hi to Ollie.

Gday Jeff, you are observant which I applaud, an eye for detail. The car is a registered 65 but has the wrong overiders. When I first bought it I compared genuine chrome MGB spec with this vehicle and did pick up that difference. The explanation is straight forward. The vehicle had been in a fender bender in its previous life and the PO changed out the style of the overiders. I like the look of them but agree they arent true to the period. This is also can be validated when you compare the vision taken of the front bumpers (not true to the period) compared to the rear which are spot on (nor rubber inserts - plain chrome). I have contemplated updating the front overiders but have decided to leave that decision for another day.
I'm constantly working on improvements and deliberating things in my mind, they are so fun and rewarding to work on! Per previous video I have upgraded the generator and regulating unit to alternator 85amps and extremely happy to have done it. I have calculated the correct gauge wiring and have relays and fuses as required.
Many thanks for the compliments and feel free to add comments anytime!

Gday Jeff...I also have the original seats (no head rests) which are in mint condition and stored here. I found a wrecked 74.5 B (which are also mint condition)band installed those as they are more comfortable to sit in. If I ever choose to show the car I'll swap em out for the day. The seat covers are relatively cheap and are there to protect from UV. I changed out the banding and added seat belt guides on the 74.5 seats as well

An update....I recently purchased a battery load tester, a very worthwhile investment! I load tested (including cold cranking etc) and discovered the battery was end of life and couldn't hold a charge. Obviously this was a major contributor as to why the little car wouldn't start readily. A replacement battery has been purchased. I have negative ground and battery resides in the boot (trunk) of the car. FYI - the battery purchased was a 24F sized at 700 cold cranking amps. Cheers!

Gday Gary - thankyou very much although I've experienced a setback. One of the first dry and warm days here I took the little car out for a "safe" highway drive. I was on an merging lane going very slow, saw a little car in front of me and shoulder checking the main traffic. The little car stopped dead in front of me, I was a considerable distance behind and went to apply the brake - nothing. The pedal wouldn't depress. I didn't have time to gear down and there wasn't enough time to to swerve clear into the emergency lane. This result in considerable front end damage incl folded hood, smashed up grille, fender etc. The silver lining is that I can work and replace all of those as there is zero structural damage. I'll forensically look for the root cause as this si something I certainly dont want to chance in the future! At this point I suspect a seized master cylinder which is only about 1-1/2 years old and has worked flawlessly! Looks like I have future videos planned to progress the repairs....as you can imagine I'm gutted
