I had a ‘73 MG BGT as my first car, and still have it now, done over 60k miles in 2 years as a daily without a single break down, and now my weekend toy for the last 4 years 👌
Hi Adam
Don't ever ever sell your first car. We all miss them and then if lucky buy the same type back years and years later.
I love the fact that so many Young people are buying cars that there Mum or Dad had a first.
My God son has an MGB and loves it so much at 19.His first car ever. His Dad had one. So loves going out in it.
Don't ever sell her
Miles
I connect fully with you in this video Adam! I'm 18, and my first car is a 1966 Hillman Superminx! Got it a year and a half ago, and loved driving it every day! It's a super fun car, the attention it gets from young and old is incredible, it's just awesome! I wouldn't trade it for a modern car at all! I love the lil machine! The four speed manual is super easy to get used to, she runs like a dream, lovely machine!
Do you still have it?
I used to hate the MGB too but they are one of the best ways into affordable classic cars , lots of knowledge and help available and spares are mostly plentiful . I'd like a MGC 6Cyl but prices are a bit high
Is it weird that I'm 17 years old and totally love classic cars like this? XD I feel really out of place xD
Same boat as you. 20 years old and i'd take an MGB over a modern car any day
Hey! I'm also 17 and am into classics! Welcome to the community!
Just so you know, the rest of society are the weird ones, not us xD
Duncan De hulst you're not alone bro I'm 17 aswell and I honestly can't get enough of classics👍
17 here too and totally agree guys! Classics are the best cars. Unfortunately we live in a society that wants to outlaw anything petrol powered!
samthemanthecarfan you beg your parents, that's the key. I got myself a Mk1 Fiesta, I want to pay my dad back, mind!
Classic cars are best cars!
Considering that most "modern" cars are basically kitchen appliances, I'd say that classic cars are the only "real" cars!
Totally agree. Modern cars are just boring. Even the latest super cars don't really excite me. I like some early 2000s cars but that's about as modern as it gets for me with the odd exception
Yeah...
If you search UA-cam for "an MG is born", you'll find a series by Mark Evans uploaded by some guy called Johnny Cockroach (if memory serves me correctly).
During one of the episodes, the chief designer who was in charge of the B actually says that "you are much nearer to your motoring in the B then you are in these modern tin boxes" - I'm paraphrasing slightly, but he did say tin boxes, and he's dead on with that!
Cory Brayshaw I agree there're so much better than modern hatchbacks etc..
I love Goodwood, and the breakfast meetings, I raced there a couple of time over the years. Adam, keep up the good work. Cheers Bob
I feel the same way adam, my first was a 98 Chevy s10 5 speed and I still own it till this day, I never wanna get rid of it because it shows how ive worked up in my life from my first ever to what I drive now. But never the less your car looks awesome I love the red!!
Own a 1974 CB MGB myself for the last 8 years. Great diving cars.
It was nice to meet and get the chance to talk to you whilst you were there. To jog your memory I was the one who was talking to you about whether I should get a classic car or get a modern fun car :)
Awesome video mate, pretty much sums up why anyone should buy a classic. They are just awesome!!
The MGBGT is a very safe and tough car. I was once passenger in a 3 car crash on A1 through no fault of our own. The car suffered serious damage but saved us from any injury.
They are very strong structurally and mechanically. Also they are a relaxing car to drive. Enjoy it as much as you can.
Yeh, one of the first cars to have crumple zones
Your mg looks great! I've got a 1977 mgb roadster.
Great video Adam, i love classic cars, they have way more character than newer cars :)
This was WONDERFUL! More please!
This is so lovely middle class stuff. Keep it up Adam.
Adam, I'm with you. I own a 1972 MG Midget, a 1974 Reliant Scimitar and a 1974 Austin 1300 (which is up for sale in a few months). I've never been interested in new cars, always liked the old stuff. And of course, I could never afford a bew GTR or the likes. I know, my cars are not very special, boring to the most. But if you sort of on a short budget, you will have massive fun with a Midget or a MGB. They are huge fun to drive, very cheap to run and you can learn a lot about mechanics. I just can encourage everyone to try a classic. Sometimes they are a pain in the ass - but most things can be sorted out fairly easy.
Swapped an injected Rover V8 into my roadster. It's perfect. Great cars with easy parts availability, good looks, easy maintenance and pretty much universal appeal.
My 1st car was an Austin Mini 850cc 1978S unfortunately it had electrical gremlins so I sold it & got a Ford Escort 1.3L Saloon mk2 1980V. I've always liked the MGAs,MGBs, Austin Healey 3000.
Liked your comment about originally hating the MGB. I was exactly the same about Morris Minors. I really couldnt understand why people drove them, when I was young. Then I got to age 18, and bought one rather than a hot hatch, which were what my friends aspired to. Nice car btw, in fact I also almost bought a 74 in the same colour as yours, but couldnt afford the insurance as well as buying it, back in the late 80's / early 90's. So got the Minor instead :-)
Your car is beautiful Adam!!
Totally love this little B and can't wait to own one myself as I've always wanted one. Any more recent footage of this beauty ;)
Good selection of cars there especially the the Mustang GT 500 (Eleanor) Love it
Hola Adam,me gusta mucho tus vídeos del MGB GT, sería estupendo que hicieras más vídeos con el MG.Gracias
I love mgbs yours is beautiful we have a 1964 mgb roadster
Old cars are bulletproof, if u take care these babies, they will look well years and years. Im a classic car fan too!
Nice video nice car. just been out in my TR4A love it.
I might go to the next one in my classic 1935 rover 14
Love your MGB.
I have a 1968 MGB GT. the right side outrigger is rotted out and I can't get anyone to fix it for me. It isent able to pass its MOT and I haven't been able to take it for long drives. It's really sad to see it in the way it is but I hope I'm gunna be able to get it fixed one day.
full restore , sand blast shell and weld in fresh metal, only job i could do with my c2 kadett
Never sell that car. If I could buy back my first car I would in a heartbeat; and it was a naff MkI Fiesta not a great little classic.
Guy Markham Got to love a Mk1 Fiesta 😝
Mk1Kieran mine is a Mk1 Fiesta! Need to work in it more and actually pass my test 😅
That's good then, that you have no plans too get rid of it, as the years go by it will get rarer and rarer then it will cost a lot! So your a proud owner of the little mg!!! 😂😃
Damn, was hoping to see my e-type there in the video. The only Willow green one there haha
I reckon if u lowered the bgt just a tiny bit and got rid of the bumpers it would look insane!
Good to see the B back out , please do more videos featuring the mgb as is a great car. Currently in the process of picking either a 1973 mgb or a 2014 fiesta , do u have any advise ?
Advise - get the MGB
Wow very nice the white car I like it
great vid but one minor correction. the second "race-sec" MG you showed was a CGT not a BGT
What are the running cost and insurance costs for you when you first bought the car, I imagine you were 18ish??
james mcgovern
I replied to your comment asking about the costs etc. of my car down below... I told you pretty much EVERYTHING I know, but I forgot to mention that before you take the plunge, you might want to try and catch a ride in one to see how you like it first ;)
I love my 68, 71, 79 & 80 Limited edition MGBs. I also have a 68 MGC Gt I just started restoring. I have been stung by the MG Bee 🐝 and there is no cure or vacine.
I love the MG B, and u have got a proper one with metal bumpers, how long do you think you will keep the MG for?
I have no plans to get rid of it
What year is this MGB GT?
Hi Adam
Looking into getting my first mgb gt and was wondering if you had any tips things to look out for. Want a chrome bumper 1972 ish so what sorta price range am I looking at?
It's hard to say as the market has changed since I bought it, but there are many forums with advice online.
Great video.👍🏽👍🏽
I'm exactly the same, my first car was also a 1972 MGB GT, I know everything wrong with it, its not a good car at all, it's in much worse condition than yours and yet I'll never sell it. Someone would have to offer me a lot of money or a very unrealistic swap for me to part with the old girl. It's even got a name, Garfield (tho that was the previous owner) and I adore it.
Hey! I'm 17 and just got a '67B GT a couple months ago! Technically it's not my first car, but its so nice to come across a fellow member of the MG Army!
Brodie Bennett hi can you tell me about the running costs and insurance etc of these types of cars I'm 18 and considering buying one
simon jones
This is not the place for spam, *or* sarcasm...
Thinking of buying myself an MGB GT. what is insurance like on these
Very cheap
That stingray!
I really want to buy an MG midget with a bust engine and give it a new modern heart. Something like a Honda K Series motor.
Dylan 'Robin' Harwood or just restore the engine so it's worth more
MGB,or also known as a 2 door Morris Oxford :)
Well it's stupd - but also a littly funny.
how do you in insurance it
probably by buying insurance at an insurance place probably... might sound crazy I know....
A lot of you in it? Lol, you are in it so the whole of you is in it :)
Hi Adam. Please reply, your awesome!!!!
Thank you :)
I think your intro sounds like mr toad.
I dont think this seat is your size
Great video Adam! Love MG's, had one as a first car too, really teaches you how to drive, classics are great for learning the feel of a car. Just recently sold my MGC GT Rally car sadly. Check out our latest project roadster though on our channel: ua-cam.com/video/7XbwpIvYZfE/v-deo.html

When petrol dissapears all this cars became useless
No, they will be converted to electric.
But petrol isnt going to disappear, not for a long time anyway. All cars have to be electric by 2040, however they cannot just get rid of petrol because millions of cars are still petrol powered. I imagine petrol pumps and charging stations will swap positions.
Hi Adam love your car same as mine red as well 1970 it's great to
Watch your videos, don't sell it .
