- The new sonic tv series released on Netflix, and I'm hear to pick it apart and tell you why it's either amazing or terrible. There's a lot that surprised me about this, and I just had to talk about it.

The reason Shadow still couldn't access the portals despite having the tech was because it wasn't the tech itself that allowed Sonic to do so. The tech was created to help keep Prism Energy (gonna call it that, don't recall the actual term) that Sonic absorbed into his body in check. Shadow lacks the energy because he used Chaos Control to teleport before he got caught in the energy explosion.
Still, I guess you could argue that the writers could've made it so that, because the tech been exposed to the energy, it allows Shadow to obtain access to the portals by wearing them. But then they would've had to find a way to explain Sonic no longer needing the tech for himself.
Frankly, it's just them having wanted Shadow to be in the show in order to reel in his fanbase, but also not wanting him to be too involved because they knew conflict would've ended quickly with both Sonic and him present.

@@erikbihari3625 I'd like to add in C that if Shadow and Sonic were able to team up in the beginning and stop the Council when they were still collecting the other shards, they would've easily solved everything (minus the putting together the prism together). Also, keep in mind what Sonic said that he knew what Shadow was capable of, so if Shadow was the one that went through everything instead of Sonic, he wouldn't form friendships, unlike Sonic, and easily destroy (possibly kill even) those who were in his way, whether they were good or evil, since I believe Sonic was holding back against most of the opponents he faced since he didn't want to truly hurt any of them (minus Chaos Sonic who was at the same level or even greater than Sonic)
I agree - and kind of don't too. I think the lack of Prismatic Energy alone isn't the problem - as we see non-Prismatic Infused individuals actually performing inter-Shatterspace travel. I think it's instead a combination of Shadow's Chaos Control during Prismabreak as well as that. I've always felt that Shadow's use of Chaos Control saved him from the Prismabreak Split, but that also denied him the ability to enter Shatterspaces. I have a feeling that when the Chaos Emeralds re-appear, they'll end up helping Shadow enter the Shatterspaces as well.
Then there's a lesser probability. Sonic's speed - just the speed alone - has been a biological feature with him from birth. It came through... something biological - maybe ancestry. Unlike Shadow's connection to the Chaos Energy - it was artficially added. Maybe that... unnatural nature... could be a reason.

Maybe instead of feeling betrayed. She instead felt worthless and without purpose. So she joins the pirates crew to find another purpose, and finds that she enjoys being an equal member rather than a servant.
The tech wasn't made so Sonic could travel between worlds. It was made to help him control his powers. Nine explains this when he gives Sonic the tech. The reason I think Sonic can travel between worlds and Shadow can't is because of his connection to the prism. Sonic ends up in the void because he made contact with the prism. In New Yolk City, we learn that when he touches the shards he can travel between the other worlds (this was before we learn he can speed dash into the other worlds). Shadow made it to the void because he used the Chaos Emerald. The only world he can go into is the blueprint Green Hills. I'm assuming this is only because that is the world he is from. So even with the tech, Shadow can't travel to the other worlds. This is because he doesn't have the same connection to the prism that Sonic has.
Makes me wonder why Dread Knux needed nothing but to hold onto the side of the Chaos Council ship and he's good, then.
Maybe it's because since they're initially derivative of the Prism, they have what they need to traverse.
Perhaps if Nine gave some of that energy to Shadow, he could jump between Shatterspaces.

@@unnamed12346 I think its cuz the ship uses the shard's energy to travel between worlds. As long as you are in the ship (or in this case holding on) you would be able to pass between the worlds.

It's either that or because he made contact with the shard and used some of its energy when he attacked Sonic. Though I think it's likely what you stated.
@rcbmaverickhunterpolarity1544 i can see this, honestly. Because if you think about it, shadow did say that nine and supposedly the others aren't real because of their world being shattered and that him and sonic are the only real ones.
It's like that one episode of Teen titans go for example; raven touched a crystal and divided her into 6(?) Different versions of herself that are based on her emotions, but neither of them are the real one until they fuse back together to make the real one.
That's kind of similar in this case of sonic prime, sonic's friends have been shattered into 3 different versions each (new yoke, boscage and no place), so they're not real until they get all the shards back together to bring them back. It kind of feels like that the shatterspace is also part of their home though, hence why they can travel from portal to portal easily, but dread knux was able to do that because it was the chaos council who opened those portals, dread was just hanging in there :^
Though, this is just how i see it (not sure if i made any sense)
What makes me so mad about what they did with Shadow is the fact that Nine literally made the Shatter Drive to unnaturally go to the other shatterspaces. Shadow could’ve hopped onto the egg council’s ship and gone in with them😭.
Also I just realized this but is the fact that Eggman titan’s mustache glows a refrence to the 6th twitter takeover with that question about Eggman going super. I remember them talking about how his mustache was glowing🤔
Shadow wasn't affected by paradox prism energy while eggman and all soncs friends did (and obv sonic himself). That's why even if shadow was inside the ship the portal would simply not get him thru

I like the "horror movie" theme they were going for. And it's sad that they ditched it when they didn't give Shadow anything else.

Technically, yeah. We do see that such things are possible. Frankly, the only reason he's sidelined is because if Shadow had been with Sonic, so much stuff would've been handled a lot easier.
@@unknownentity8489 well yeah, the fact that shadow not only did he know he could handle two eggmen in a prism shard powered mech but he was able to fend them off until sonic interfered. He didn’t have a chance to get out of the grasp of the baby eggman. He also outsmarted mr dr eggman and the teenage techy eggman. By making them think he was killed my them.
I was wondering about the shard portals and sonic running to portal him out cuz he wasn’t hit by the blast nor did he touch a shard like sonic.

I felt the twist with Nine was both predictable and great at the same time. Starting with when he doesn't listen to Shadow telling him "They're not your REAL friends" and countering that Nine is real. That wasn't what Shadow was saying. Then we see that Nine had been building his new world with Sonic in mind before he got captured, stayed in captivity being tased and threatened to help Sonic undercover, and Sonic called him his best friend. But when it comes to what they both wanted, Sonic expected Nine would want Green Hill back just like the "real" Tails despite that not being a world he knew or cared about. He also didn't stop to consider what fixing Green Hill might mean for the Shatterverse versions, just expecting it to turn out okay and that an introvert like Nine who had never found anyone to trust besides Sonic would just love his friends. He wasn't seeing Nine, he was seeing Tails, and knowing that your "best friend" doesn't see you for you or consider you would be incredibly upsetting.
But then, Sonic's got a good heart, but doesn't read the room. I mean, Dread is a walking red flag and Sonic just wasn't seeing it so he got duped. He also considered everyone his friends and is hurt they don't feel the same, despite him not really taking their various situations seriously. So he's got a ton of growing to do and I'm here for it. And Shadow's reaction season 3.
I LOVED Chaos Sonic, he was hilarious and I loved seeing Sonic have his behavior mimicked back to him. Plus, as a big Tails fan, Nine is one of my favorite characters and his arcs are the most intriguing to me. I honestly didn't feel like Shadow could've done much more, but that's probably because I didn't pay attention to him as much.
yesyes chaos sonic was so fun! it's like the chaos council went "this is you. this is what you sound like" but then changed a few things to make sonic even madder lol (example "friends are a weakness")
I want season 3 to start with Sonic being totally broken from Nine's betrayal.
And Shadow takes charge of everything and Sonic just follows along.
It would be pretty poetic to leave Shadow out of season 2. And then have him be the major driving force in season 3. Kinda like an overcorrection, but I think it can work if they play their cards right.
Hopefully they'll do shadow justice in sonic 3

I need more of shadow in season 3. I didn’t like how in every episode there’s an action scene, it got tiring really fast but I blame this on Netflix for splitting it into 3 seasons instead of 1. Other than that it was an enjoyable season(mostly because of shadow).
Pacing is the problem. There isn't 24 episodes worth of content. There is alot of filler. Some recaps are deliberately long just so they can do the "to be continued" thing
Its done so people wouldnt binge watch the show and unsubscribe. People now subscribe 3 times each time a season
I was so hyped to see Shadow and hoped he would join that action only to get disappointed. Shadow himself knew that this was going to happen for what he said is true. He is Nine not Tails and what frustrates me is that Sonic acts like any two-tailed fox whose smart in technology is defiantly a friend. It just makes me feel like he is temporarily replacing Tails.
Sonic prime shouldn't be the reason that i am actually getting invested in Sonadow, it shouldn't be.

Not gonna lie, while it was a fun season, Season 2 of Sonic Prime felt more like the second half of Season 1 than an actual season. Nice to see the other dimension characters mingle in each other dimensions though. Plus Animation was cool and Deven Mack is starting to grow on me.
That's because it is, it was supposed to beat 1 season but netflix made them split it up into 3 parts

Yup. Netflix has a habit of doing that, much to the annoyance of people.
To me it just felt like more of the same and i got tired of it real quick. Season 1 introduced the characters and settings, thats great, but season 2 felt like it was just reintroducing the characters and settings. I wish they had focused on more character driven moments rather then the episodes being the same "go to dimension, fight, and be excited cuz on the next episode we go to a dimension and fight. You wont BELIEVE what we do in the next episode!"
I liked Nine and Sonics argument (Nine as a whole i love his character) but that shouldve been the focus of this season not the thing leading up to season 3.
Overall i was disappointed :(

As mentioned, it's likely the two seasons were actually one singular season that got split into two parts. That's why the second season didn't really bring anything new to the table, as it was still going down the same route, not exactly branching off.
Netflix is no stranger to doing this stuff when it comes to their shows.

The show said its not Nine's regulators that let Sonic move through shatter spaces. Its the prism energy within Sonic for being exposed to the blast when the shards got broken.
It seems like the Sonic series has finally found out what it wants to be rather than just "cool"..!

In season 1 it was revealed that sonic couldn't run right with the excess energy, in season 2 shadow learnt that even with the tech, he couldn't travel into the different worlds
I love Sonic prime but every sense with Shadow in it was the best! Also the way you describe things is hilarious, I was just smiling the whole time!
FYI this is not really a season 2, it's more like season 1 part 2 since according to WildBrain Studios at least 24 episodes in total were produced.
When me and my nephew started watching season two I told him that when I was in middle school I used to ship Sonic and Shadow, and I’ll be honest… when Sonic said “I heart you too Shadow” my inner middle school self came out and I pointed at the screen and yelled “CANNON???” He did not find me amusing.

@@darkstorm2579 I think you’re misunderstanding me, when I said “Cannon” to my nephew I was joking, I obviously know it wasn’t a romantic/sexual moment in cannon. I should add further context, I constantly make jokes about characters being in love with each other when it’s clear they’re not, just because he finds those jokes goofy, I didn’t think I needed to add that as context originally because I didn’t realize anyone would take my joke seriously, sorry about that. But I also wanna point out that it’s totally fine to find subtext or have headcannon about their relationship because it isn’t hurting anyone, finding your own interpretation in media regardless of what the creators intended is a human thing and we shouldn’t shame anyone for doing so 🙏
I feel that same about being neutral. The series is over all okay for now. I think the characters they wrote are pretty interesting! But the same back and forth constantly wore on my nerves. They go somewhere, fight a bunch of robots, get the shard, fight a bunch of robots, fight the egg clones, lose the shard, fight a bunch of robots. And that's like every episode.
I feel like season one has more diverse story beats and focused more on characters and less on fighting a bunch of robots. I hope in season three we can see Nines as a gray character and more of Shadow.
They did have the whole beginning sequence with everyone talking about why Sonic is a good leader. Maybe it's fore-SHADOWING that Shadow might get a bigger role overall. I did appreciate the nod to Sonic Frontiers with the animation for when Sonic powered up. I just want season three to blow us out of the park to justify the time I spent watching season two.
The intire season had every single character except shadow go into the different dimensions so i was like "why doesn't shadow just do that

I really liked the SA2 reference & the other references too, it was fun to look for them.
I love all your Sonic videos and how in-depth you get into the history of the franchise but also the history of the characters and how these change across the reboots. It really gives a great viewpoint into why certain depictions across the games, shows, and comics can feel jarring, such as with Shadow or even Sonic himself! ...side note, idk why but seeing the Persona 5 Royal icon on your Switch homescreen felt like a jumpscare as a Persona fan-

Imagine if Season 3 has Shadow get to join Sonic into the other worlds..but the catch is they have to use the power of boyfriends and Sonic has to carry bridal style while running full speed to portal. Shadow just so mad about it but practically demands they do it everytime because he's tired of just being in the void with barely any chances to actually help save their home

Shadow mentioned in the beginning, he doesn't know yet why ghost hill let him in. I suppose it has something to do with the shard being in a ghost prism. Now both the shard and the prism are gone from this world. I wonder if this will affect Shadow's ability to travel to other places. Or it's also possible that instead of being stuck in the void he's now stuck in the ghost hill.
this isn't a season 2 it's just Netflix being themself and taking a completed series and cutting it up into 3 parts so they dont need to pay for more episodes

personally I wasn't invested in shadow nor did I watch the advertisement before hand so I didn't really care about his lack of screentime all that much. I will say s1 was overall more enjoyable but that final episode went *really* hard. And more sonic content is always appreciated. And Nine, I love Nine dearly.

Nine's tech isnt for traveling demensions. It is for stabilizing Sonic's prism energy. They are literally pointless for Shadow. Shadow can only come and go from broken Green Hill with or without the shards

Chaos Sonic is characterized as annoying, over the top, and annoying. It's literally in the name. So much so that Sonic himself gets annoyed. Sonic's getting a taste of his own medicine with Chaos Sonic.
I understand Metal Sonic fans, but I admit that Chaos Sonic returning to future products is appealing simply due to his exaggerated reflection persona.
 Yeah, right? If you can annoy Sonic of all people, you're god tier. I just hope he has a multitude of superforms like in Sonic Adventure and isn’t just Sonic, but as Roboboy.

I felt like Nine being the next villain was predictable considering his name is Nine and he is a nine-tailed fox and nine-tailed foxes in urban legends are known to deceive you, but I felt like that twist was cool even though it was predictable
I have never been so disappointed in a cliffhanger the entire time I've been alive. I knew exactly what was going to happen, how it was going to happen, and what would be said. But I'm still disappointed because I was really hoping I would be wrong.

Which version of contradictory characterization if shadow you will pick?
1. The traumatized but caring (saving rouge at all cost) and mature (follow order of eggman even though he disagree) rival big brother (sonic call him a faker, and he is like you gonna prove your worth) to sonic as tails grow up from being the little brother?
2. The edgy nihilist angst teen with attitude of shadow the edgehog?
3. The stereotype 'friend is a weakness' roval villain that will punch you if you approach him?
The writer: yes 😂
Talk about cake and eating it, but they are good enough to weave it all in.
1. He talk senses and make astutes observations
2. He has trust issues, see only the bad point.
3. He punch before talking and think he can do better.
They did the same for other characters by flanderizing them into split personality, so that's less an issue, with the dark mirror version added. Except they removed the problematic aspect of the girls, so no more rouge femme fatale and amy romantic stalking.
Dark tails is a genius, plant tails is a coward, sea tails is a plucky side kick looking for adventure.
Knuckles is the loyal fighter, the dark obsessive gem hunter and the random tag along.
Shadow is shown to be unable to access dimensions other than the "Hologram-Plane". Also, Nine's tech stabilizes Sonic, so he's not releasing ungodly amounts of energy every second and risking explosion by the act of breathing.
One thing I'm loving about this 'renaissance' is that they now try to picture Sonic as immature and faces accountability. The cocky bastard and headstrong hedgehog he is, full of witty comments and lacking responsibility, actually faces the consequences of his actions and that deeply affects him. Before he and the entire cast would just shrug it off (_when_ there were consequence) before he was just "too cool for school" and would complete his objectives swiftly. I mean, it was a kid's franchise, so it didn't really bother me, but it's nice to see it maturing.
Also, since Forces, I feel they're trying to make Tails and Amy their own characters, not just someone who's always in Sonic's shadow to boost him (and that is further explored in Frontiers, I really loved their arcs)

I grew up mostly with modern Sonic games and honestly I am disappointed that SEGA just made every bit of Sonic media canon and while I get it that they wanted a fresh take for new audience but they approached it wrong. The timeline has become even more confusing and I don't think rebooting the series or changing the characters personalities will fix. I have my own ideas on how to get back on track but it only works if we only considered the games as canon.

My biggest issue with the giant Eggman finale was the design was Eggman as opposed either of the 5 shatter versions

Super Strict Sega mandates are unfortunately the reason why shadow seems to be like an edgelord in most subsequent adaptations of the Sonic Mythos. Sure, he could’ve been a bit different, but that’s another story altogether.

Ok, so there's a similar mechanic to the speed force in Sonic CD (and Back to the Future, honestly). And since the Chaos Emeralds haven't come into play but there are more shiny Macguffin rocks, Ultra Instinct seems like a decent power up similar to Super (Saiyan) Sonic, and might hearken back to Sonic Frontiers.
If you want to make a video on Sonic merchandise, I would watch that

Sonic is the only one who can travel between shatter space because he is over loaded with the Prism energy and the only reason Shadow can't enter any Shatter Dimension other than the original one is because Shadow used Chaos Control to teleport out of the Shatter blast so he doesn't have an ounce of Prism energy on him to properly enter any Shatter Dimension.
No shadow cant go into the realitys because sonics speed or something is special because Nine in season 1 said sonic has the same power of the shards so thats why shadow cant go into any of the realitys.
THis was surpost to be 1 season, but it was split into 3 seasons
I thought shadow couldnt go into other worlds like shadow was becouse he dosent have a bunch of the crystals energy infused into him liek sonic, and Nine's tech just filters sonics energy

Sonic can go in forteck because he is made same energy as the forteck but shadow cannot because he doesn’t have the same energy as the forteck
Ok so question :
Why did they not repair the prism and THEN let nine take the whole prism with him. It would have saved Sonic’s world and nine would have the power to create his new world. That way the prism is away from eggman when Sonic’s world is repaired so there wouldn’t be any problems anymore. Also what nine did was not only selfish but also dumb as shit, he knows that sonic can travel worlds so he should know that he will come after him no matter what. Yeah I don’t know, maybe I forgot something and there’s actually a good explanation but I am not sure
