Great review. As someone who has used the X100s in low light, having IBIS is a huge boost. The 40mp is icing on the cake. This upgrade did what it needed to do.
Man, that all black x100VI looks amazing. Love the form factor, and the addition of IBIS makes video actually viable on this version. Can't wait to take it everywhere.

Preordered mine today in silver. I have the XT2 and a bunch of lenses and the X100f. However I’m finding that as I get older (65) I tend to leave all the heavy gear at home and grab my X100f and on holidays etc my wife likes it when I’m not stopping so much to change lenses lol.
By far the best X100VI video on UA-cam. Concise and finally someone shared photos taken with the new camera. Much appreciated!

I have to admit, I'm not as excited as I thought. After moving over to Leica, I'm not as excited about the X100 series like I used to. I do still own some Fuji kit and absolutely love it, and feel like that serves my Fuji itch right now. I'm sure this camera is phenomenal, but I'm in camera overload mode right now so I'll probably be passing on this one. I'd be way more excited if they had announced an X-Pro4! :)

@@mahdimanesh4221Realistically it isn't even going full manual thats the game changer, its being able to see/preview your composition at various focal lengths and understand how that inevitably affects your approach to photography. It's been a game changer for me to be able to see what a composition would look like at 90mm whilst shooting a 28. Now my kit is comprised of 28/50/90 and I'd argue my work has advanced by leaps and bounds.
I love this form factor. I have an XT4 but i'm still tempted to buy this camera.
I’m worried that the X-E4 was the end of that line. I’ve got the original X-E1 and an X-E4 with a few XF primes (and a couple of zooms but primes are better balanced on the small body) but if the don’t release an X-E5, my upgrade path is gone. I’ve no interest in the X-T5 form factor so perhaps the X-100VI will be my only option and ditch all my lenses. Fuji is a bit of a dead end for me at present.
Great review, i wanted the x100v but wasn't prepared to pay the silly used prices so i've pre-ordered this one i just hope there are no supply issues 🤞
I suspect the X100V premium is going to crater. There will be people selling their V to defray the cost of purchasing the VI. That will mean an increase in V availability. Plus the VI will be cheaper than a used three year old V.
I preordered the black X100VI on the morning of the 20th from B&H.The camera store in Seattle had over 400 bodies ordered. Lord knows how many B&H orders are before mine. Now it is a sit and wait game.

Great review. The upgrades are just enough. Would’ve been great to get UHS-II, but for what it does, it’s still very nice.
Really curious to stress test this in the coming months.

Well done Fujifilm to come up with this camera… people will complain no matter what! Fujifilm can't please everyone !!!it’s a product and buy it if you want, and if you don’t it’s ok too.
The x100v is my most used camera since its release. Somewhat let down by the lack of updates to the x100vi but still placed a preorder. Excited to see the in camera cropping with the 40mp sensor.

@@singletrack29349 The X100 series primarily improves incrementally. No camera is perfect. The 235 battery will be next. The class 2 memory card will be added to the X100VII. That will be in three years. Until then I will be happy to use my VI.

Won’t be updating to the X100VI from my X100V as I’ve had it less than a year. I got it in May last year after a 6 month wait, for its official price from a reputable camera shop, and I’m still greatly impressed with my X100V.
Would love the new 40mp Sensor, but not the time for me to update the camera for this new iteration of an X100 camera. For me to update it will most likely be for a different Fujifilm model or a different manufacturer ie possibly Leica. But I won’t rule out updating to the X100VI, but still greatly impressed with my X100V.

Good alternative for the Q3 at 1/3 the price. Internal ND?! This camera may not have some touchstone elements of a Leica, but for us financial mortals, this is so much more value. Wonderful review presentation!
Tons of value.
Ended up having to return mine to BHphoto and requested an exchange due to the EVF screen being stuck. Pressing the lever did nothing. Resetting the entire camera back to factory settings did nothing. Turning the camera on and off at times only unstuck it half way so you’d be able to see out of the OVF but the black EVF screen would still remain. Super bummed, only got around 5 days use out of the camera before the issue arose. The replacement will probably take months to be issued 😢.
That sucks. I’m hearing a few issues like this, hopefully it’s ironed out quick. Good luck ✌🏾
I am lucky to be at the launch night of the camera. First thing I notice is the weight, slightly heavier than the V. However, the weight is left heavy, I hope to see an oem thumb grip, that should balance it out.

IBIS (blue hour photographer) and the AF (two kids under 10) is *everything* for me.
That AF wont keep up with a kid, correction kids😂

I rented the X-T5 over the xmas holidays. I knew the guts were going into the VI. I presently have my late dad's OG X100 to hold me over -- which holds up well; I sold my V in December at top dollar@@okyeabuddyguy
@@MikeLikesChannel Gotcha, makes sense. I have an abundance of cameras already lol so I can't really find a way to fit it into my kit.
I think it makes a lot of sense if it's someone's only camera, and they are hobbyists or want something for capturing video and still photos of family, friends, daily life. It's also a great travel camera.
For more serious photographers with multiple cameras already, I'm not sure I see where it fits.
Thanks for review. I am contemplating Leica Q3 and it might not be fair comparison but let me ask you.
In terms of files quality (lens, iso up to 32k noise, sharpness, DR, post-process flexibility) is there a big difference between the two? I do not like x100vi JPGs, they seem to have too much of noise reduction, but then again I was not amazed by Q3 JPGs either and RAWs seem to be more or less comparable.... and yes I need to go wider so that means x100vi + wide lens converter.
So far Q3's lens corner end edges quality are holing me back, along with diffraction at f11 and from my experience these go worse when OIS steps in.
I am choosing carefully as my financial situation does not allow me switching and.the camera will stay with me for a long time (still have my x-pro1 and x100s).

Does the digital teleconverter still upscale the image to native resolution like it did on the X100V?
No it doesn’t. Each is a lower resolution.
And just like that the V gained epic status as the last Made in Japan.
Can you check if Digital Telephoto Function will still work with the 50 teleconverter attached? Would then be 70 at 20mp and 90 at 10mp?
If so you would have 35 at 40mp and tele converted 50 at 40mp and then also converter 50 > 70 at 20mp and converter 50 > 90 at 10 mp.
Like having 4 lenses, what value if so ??

I just saw the Samuel Streetlife review. The sharpness wide open is not as good an Ricoh GR3(with examples). The focus is hunting with AF tracking and some other small other things. I do like your content. Thanks.
How would you compre it to the Q3?
They announce how they will handle the limited edition release? Hopefully online instead of having to fly out to a store overseas.
Unfortunately I had no insights from them on that.
Awesome video. X100vi is a massive upgrade for video shooters. The x100v for video was atrocious. Question though, is it still very annoying to switch back and forth from video and picture modes? I love the physical switch on my xt5. Wish they added that to the x100 somehow.
The drive button makes it easy, and custom profiles definitely speed it up. It’s not bad.
all good but I really would like a raw without the emulation, I use the provia cinema emulation as a kinda log but I reckon a neutral raw without any of the emulations should be in the box, i own the GFX system so definitely a Fuji fan but....

As an XT5 owner, I'm on the fence because size wise, for every day carry I'd rather just have a Ricoh GR iii X. No it doesn't have an EVF or OVF, the screen doesn't tilt, no flash and it's not 40 MP but... I can actually fit a ricoh GR iiix in my pocket. The x100v, as small as it is, still needs a small bag to bring it along with you. With a GR and a Cellphone, I have a 40mm and 24mm equivalent on me at all times, no bag needed, and the GRiiix gives similar flexibility with the ND Filter, Leaf Shutter and IBIS and third party tiny hotshoe flashes.
If you don't have other cameras and are just a hobbyist, the x100vi makes perfect sense. It's great for family, friends, documenting life and more than provides for hobbyist photography. But for people that already have an X-E/Xt/Xpro or even those who have a Nikon ZF or some full frame mirrorless camera, the x100vi kind of feels redundant?
The GRiii and iiiX are popular bodies in the street photography community. The big appeal of the Ricoh is the size. Also the one hand operation. You can’t go wrong with either the Ricoh or Fuji. It all depends on what you want and need.

I went with XS20. That grip is incredible and I rather have more options to mount glass. Xs20 really is a powerful camera that doesnt get the love I think it deserves

@@keyhanbagheri i would only say go VI if you’re already in bed with another camera system like Canon/Sony/Nikon. But if you’re not and looking to build up a system, XS20 + the many lens offerings fuji has is a better route.

Sony user here, I feel like the x100V and VI both tick off a lot of boxes while managing to hit that desirable small form factor.
Shooting on Sony, it’s possible to get a really small body with their apsc line or A7C/A7Cii and there’s plenty of great glass…. but nothing that can get to f2 at the size the x100 series is hitting and I think that’s where the magic of the x100 really comes from for me. The fact that it’s a rangefinder sized kit on top of all it’s features is what makes it such a great value imo.
Also I love that it has an optical VF. Feels like such a blessing to have that on a modern camera built in. I’m also one of those nuts that would use the mode with optical VF+ digital overlay
But what software supports this wonderful HEIF format???
Most everything does in my experience. I’ve been shooting HEIF for a long time and haven’t had any issues except uploading to niche websites here and there.
Sticking with my X100V. The 6 is not overwhelming at all in my opinion.
I imagine there’s many V users that are happy with what they have right now.
Why are the iso numbers upside down, compared to the shutter speed numbers?
It’s relative. If you turn the SS dial around, the ISO will appear upright because it spins under the SS dial.

Don't you get bored analysing/reviewing the latest cameras?
Don't get me wrong there's been great advancements in mirrorless cameras in performance/design, and yes the new Mk6 version of the X-100, certainly fired up the "fan boys", but in reality substantial improvements have not been made since the 2nd/3rd revisions.
Yeh - I know IBIS, tilting screens, new Fuji film profiles etc., are very now, but honestly at the higher price of the latest version, is all the hype warranted?
Since when have you needed 40 megapixels, & IBIS to take good photos, certainly not at the price you can purchase many alternative used (or even new/discounted) full frame digial cameras!
Looking forward to the Mk7 version, with flippy screen, larger battery to cope with greatly enhanced video function, together with fan cooling.... I don't think!
PS. I'll just get a good used Q! (if you know what I mean?)
I do, which is why I’ve cut down how many videos I do per year. It helps that I only talk about the two brands I find interesting, but I imagine this might be the last year covering Fuji products.

My choice was made because I have the B&H boo credit card. They pay the sales tax. That came to a little less than $180. An easy decision. I’d like to support the local brick and mortar store but they can’t compete on price due to the 11% sales tax.

My old Pentax’s over 10 years ago all had built in body stabilization. I guess Fuji is just now catching up? The new Fuji camera is nice but a fixed lens for me is a total no go. It’s not a matter of if, but more about when, the sensor needs cleaning. It’s a major pain to get it addressed. Would rather have a camera I can pull the lens off and clean it in 30’ seconds than to send it out for service and get it back 30 days later. I think it’s fair to say that in 2024, pretty much every camera will give the same proper results. For 99% of people, they won’t notice any difference between 16mp,24, 40, 1396mp, etc. if we’re being honest, all of this stuff is marketing these days with some smoke and mirrors. I will say I’m hoping to eventually see an Xpro 4 at some point. Thanks for the great video and insight about the product!

Funny thing happened when ordering online. B&H didn’t recognize the B&H credit card. I tried to use a 2nd credit card along with their credit card with no joy. I called them on the 800 number and the preorder went through.

It's interesting isn't it that you talk about the 35 mm focal link which I think is great, but then you start talking about adapters and lenses and stuff why not just buy an XT5 this is an XT5 in a compact body and to be honest, DXT5 is not a huge camera if you were running a comparison video and I'm sure people will be running comparison videos in the next two weeks because that's what happens on UA-cam the XT5 would win over this camera. I'm sorry this camera is a great camera don't get me wrong but it's already a camera in another body and that's the XT5. There is no way I'll be selling my XT5 to buy this camera and having the limitations that it has one memory card slot not proper weather ceiling. It's a great camera don't get me wrong, but I felt that it's almost a camera that's a copy of another camera. It's basically an XT5 put into a X100 body..... Is that a bad thing probably not but it's an interesting thing
Internal ND. Leaf shutter. Built in flash. Smaller footprint.
Sure you can increase the size and weight of the X100VI with an adapter *if you want to* but you can never decrease the size and weight of the XT5. The XT5 lacks OVF, ND, leaf shutter and flash too. It is not another camera in another body at all.

Can you help me please to take a side? I'm in doubt between Sony A7CR with Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8 lens (found for 450 euro) and in the future 24mm 1.4 or should I get Fujifilm X100VI. Money matters but not really. Always wanted to have a full frame, but I'm not sure of the size. I'm just buying for myself not interested in earning with photography. Travel about 4-6 times a year with family. Sick of phone photos especially at night time or any low light. Purpose family, friends, travel. Thank you for your answer
Premature production of all electronic devices should be avoided.
Whether it is made in Japan or China, the country's craftsmanship and final production are important.
The more recent the version, the later it is better to purchase it..

If you have to ask why you should get a fixed lens vs an ILC then you shouldn't be spending money on any camera as you clearly do not know what it is you want to take photos of! If you did the answer would be obvious.

I understand that this camera is the hot selling camera of this moment. When I look at the specs however then it is very limiting. It seems more like a style icon then a really good camera. That is also directly the way this video is made. It is very much style over functionality.

So your complaint is that the X100VI is not for you? You not wanting it does not mean it isn't a really good camera. You are literally complaining about something that is not aimed at you.
@@JackBurton-qp4hc I don't think I complain. I was just checking out what the hype is all about. You are right that I came to the conclusion that it is not my cup of tea and I said why. When I buy a camera I would rather spend money on functionality rather then spending money on a great design. That does not mean that the camera is bad. Most watches are more then a piece of equipment that tells you the time. This camera is somewhat the same. It looks great but it is rather expensive for the functionality it offers. I can however see why people want it. It is a nice looking gadget.
You don't want an OVF, leaf shutter, 23mm f2, flash and ND filter, all in a compact sized APS-C rangefinder style body.
That is *functionality* not merely "great design".
I am not sure that you actually understand what the X100VI provides, why it is so unique, and why others want it. Hence why you said, "It seems more like a style icon then a really good camera". Which is simply not true.

I know we are Leica slaves, I know I am, but I’m super jealous of the X100 series. Fuji owns this market segment. No contest.
