    Nice review. I pre-ordered my X100VI on 28th Feb and finally got to collect it on 31st August but have loved it since I first used it. Well worth the wait.

    I own the X100V and thoroughly enjoy using it, so much so that I’d choose it over my X-T5 when going out to do street photography.
    I like it so much that I haven’t (yet) placed an order for the VI but the changes over the older model is certainly tempting.
    The 40mp sensor and better autofocus plus the IBIS is what I’ve wanted for the X100 for a long time.
    Will I eventually roll over and buy the VI? Ehm… maybe it I’m still hankering to get a Leica Q3 but that would mean selling all my photography kit (including my beloved X100V) to fund it.
    Anyway, it’s not yet available in Scotland right now as there’s a waiting list for it (probably caused by those buggers who bulk buy them so that they can sell at an over inflated price) much like the Q3.

      If you think you’d upgrade to the VI see if you can still get a decent price for the V before the VI becomes more available.
      Personally, if I was in the market I’d likely be looking for the V again instead of the VI. Although if you feel you’d benefit from ibis, that’s probably going to make a difference. I think I got a sharp image all the way down to about 1/4 second with a bit of slow breathing and shooting a burst.

    Focusing tip: you can disable the half press shutter button focus in continuous only and then whenever you set your manual focus for zone focusing, flick that focus switch to continuous effectively locking the focus distance so you can’t bump it. Then you can still use back button focus to use autofocus.

    Ended up having to return mine to BHphoto and requested an exchange due to the EVF screen being stuck. Pressing the lever did nothing. Resetting the entire camera back to factory settings did nothing. Turning the camera on and off at times only unstuck it half way so you’d be able to see out of the OVF but the black EVF screen would still remain. Super bummed, only got around 5 days use out of the camera before the issue arose. The replacement will probably take months to be issued 😢.

      That’s interesting. I got rid of my x100v in early 2021 because the viewfinder was developing a black spot in the corner and it was getting bigger. I had an x-pro2 with a glitchy evf too. You’re the first person I’ve heard about having viewfinder issues too. The more tech they squeeze in the more I worry about things being fragile. I hope your replacement doesn’t take too long :(

      @@TheLiamGordon I’ve never had any issues with previous Fuji cameras. My Xpro 3 is still running very well with no issues. Never had anything like that with my x100v. I don’t wanna attribute it to it being made in china but definitely disappointed

    So its always gonna shoot at 40mp or we can lower the file size?

    • @TheLiamGordon
      @TheLiamGordon  4 місяці тому

      It’s always 40mp. I shot compressed raw to save a little space.

      If you use the zoom ring the image will be cropped to use a lot fewer pixels.

    Dude, your analogy between having all these options in a camera and having extra lenses is so spot on. Great video, and loved a lot of your shots, too. Subscribed.

    I wanted a X100 since the first version but never took the plunge because I like playing with old manual lens. I finally decide to buy one mainly as a travelling camera but I love it so much that I’m not picking up my other cameras. 40mp image IS nuts and I would have loved to be lower as my travelling setup is only with an iPad and it struggling with the size of image.

    Question?
    I have a Fuji XT-5 but over the last year I found that I more enjoy being the point and shoot capture the moment film look person.
    Taking my Fuji XT-5 on trips is such a hassle that I was thinking of selling it to get the Fuji X100VI.
    What do you think of this?

    • @TheLiamGordon
      @TheLiamGordon  5 місяців тому

      The X100VI has just about as much tech packed in it as the XT5 and the images will look similar. If you just want a smaller, prettier camera, the X100VI will do that but it's no point-n-shoot.
      I'd probably be inclined to find the smallest lens I could for the XT5 and use it in the same way I would use the X100. Maybe the 27mm pancake lens? It wont be much bigger than the X100VI.
      Or if you truly want a point-n-shoot type camera, the older Fuji X70 or Ricoh GR are closer to that type of camera.
      I can't tell you what is the right choice for you though that's why I always encourage folks to try renting cameras first and see if they feel right for you :)

    Like the X100V, you need to use a thumb rest to keep the thumb out of the way of the joystick (or lock it out of use) but if I owned one (I have the superb X100V) I’d still add a grip along with a thumb rest too.

      I had the same issue with the X100V in 2020. I talked about it somewhere in an old video. It may just be a function of the way I shoot but I never found a fix.

    I still don’t understand your aversion to ibis. It doesn’t detract from anything you’re doing and you can just leave it on. You don’t need to toggle it. At least for the cameras I’ve used.

    I got the X100VI at launch, I sold it after a week.. don't think it gained very much over the V.... So I now got a 1100 usd. as new X100V, which is much better than the 2000 usd. a new X100V costs here in Scandinavia... I'll keep it and then buy the X100VII when that comes out... then I don't feel my loss will be too big :D

    • @TheLiamGordon

      Indeed. The technology has been good enough for a long time and its just incremental things like IBIS and megapixels that some people will covet!
