    *Update*: If you run out of plates and no plate is loaded, your printer will just stop printing and shows the error message "No build plate is placed" (this is the A1 Mini's plate detection feature). I tested this with my A1 mini running the firmware version 01.03.01.00.
    And sorry guys I need to correct myself at 1:19, it took about 12 hours to print those parts!

      I wish every printer had the “no plate detected” error. I broke my first printer by forgetting to replace the pei sheet before homing the printer 🤦which printed me to buy my A1 mini.

    I have the Jobox system for my Prusa MK3S, and the automation of it is FANTASTIC. These days I only use it for one specific part that I have that machine tuned for, other than that my Bambu printers are just so much better in every way. So to add automation to Bambu is big news! Thanks for the vid, and yeah I also wanted to let people know about the Jobox for Prusa. Works great.

    Looks good - I've been using 3dQue for my automation - works well, but you do need to wait for the hot bed to cool down before it knocks the prints off. This method seems like you'd be able to reduce down time and you can get a full beds worth. I lose about 5cm at the top using 3Dque so the hot end has enough space to get behind the print to knock it off.

    • @Lukis3D
      @Lukis3D  Місяць тому +3

      yeah it‘s exactly how you put it! Perhaps you can try it out and see if it works for you. Of course, u‘ll then need more space for your printers since it will increase the footprint of the A1 Mini, so keep that in mind as well!

    I think if you are printing a lot of plates this way you need some kind of ramp with a deep box to hold the finished plates. If they stack up right Infront of the machine it could cause an ejection issue eventually.
    It's crazy how the slicing works. as far as the printer knows all the plates are one singular print. Neat trick but that may be an issue with increasingly long print swap sequences. I would think Bambu is aware of this mod and working on a first party version with compatible software because an auto ejecting printer is a great feature.

    • @CompletelyNormalPhenomenon

    Cool system… I wish you had more real time footage of the plate changing action. I’m sure what you printed was cool for you, but I want to see how the system operated in more detail. Thanks for the video, I know it takes a lot of effort to put these out. 🙂

    • @Lukis3D
      @Lukis3D  Місяць тому +1

      thanks man! Basically, after done printing 1 plate, it will remove the plate and load a new plate (you can see this action in Chapter 4, Pre-test, it’s a sped-up video though)
      Then it will do the same actions as though it would print something (the music, calibration, preheating action and so on), then print the model on the new plate.
      I dont wanna spoil the fun too much because its so amazing how this system works😊

    That's great and all, I just wish companies would revisit the conveyor belt idea again. That has so much potential and would be far better than something like this.
    After each print, just have it cycle the belt, pops off the print, and starts another print. No need to swap plates.

    • @Lukis3D
      @Lukis3D  25 днів тому +1

      of course that sounds great! This kit however, is affordable since it doesnt have any electronics parts.
      They specifically designed it so the cost of the kit won’t be higher than the printer itself. This makes the price interesting, even for regular users.

    Really awesome video.
    What happens if you run out of plates (like it looks like happened on your last print)? Does the printer pause and wait, does it try to print on a non-existent plate, or something else?

    • @Lukis3D
      @Lukis3D  Місяць тому +10

      Thanks! and good question, i actually didnt try that out. My best guess is that it‘ll just print on the bed. (it will prep & calibrate before each print so it will think that the bed is the plate).

      good point, if the bigger printer can print as fast as the A1 Mini, sure.
      However, if you seperate your prints to 4 different plates, you dont have to wait until all models are finished printing. You can work on the models that are already finished printing like removing brims, paint, assemble, or pack the items to be shipped, etc., thus making your workflow faster.

      waiting for the bed to cool down means you’re losing time, which can be critical if you wanna produce alot, fast.

    • @Lukis3D
      @Lukis3D  Місяць тому

      yeah that would work too. This system however, make it possible to print flat stuffs that the print head can‘t just knock off. And you can use the whole plate to print multiple prints instead of just one big vase. And of course, you don‘t need to wait for it to cool down, means that you‘re making the most out of your time.

    What happens if a print fails ? do you have to cancel everything?

    • @Lukis3D
      @Lukis3D  Місяць тому

      yes you have to cancel everything. If your model is always the same model on all of your plates, I think that isnt a big deal, just restart the print.
      But if not, lets say plate 3 of 5 fails, just cancel everything, then go to the generator, turn off plate 1 and 2, and generate the gcode for plates 3-5 so you only need to print the rest of the plates. I hope that makes sense?

    • @Lukis3D
      @Lukis3D  Місяць тому

      no worries man! currently, other than textured plates, u can get smooth and effect plates. with smooth plate, you’ll get a matte bottom surface (you can still see the lines unfortunately). With a textured plate, its textured and has glossy finish (you almost see no lines). It also offers better adhesion.
      Effect plates will give you the effects.
      It depends on what you’re looking for. Basically, you can print anything that A1Mini /A1 can print on a textured plate alone.

    3:40 Where is the link below for app? I don't see it
    How do I get the software to repeat prints shown in the video? Does anyone have the app they can send me?
    I don't even need the extra plates, just a way to auto send 5 or 10 parts in a row.
    I currently resend the print from my phone and it knocks part into a box in front of printer just fine but I need to resend from my phone or hit reprint on screen.
    My part is tall, skinny and vase mode. pops off easily no problem when it goes to start the next print.
    The only real problem is tiny purge line at front of plate.
    Sometimes it globs up after 5 or so prints. If there was a way to skip that line or move it back 2mm for each print I could print 30 parts in a row with no manual babysitting of the printer.
