- Sonic and the Black Knight is the second and last entry in the Storybook series, and in my opinion, it’s a big improvement over Secret Rings. The gameplay is so much better, even with the finicky motion controls, and the story is one of the best the series has. Shame the third game was never made. Charriii’s video meanwhile is about what I expected from an early video of his. It’s better than his Unleashed video, but it definitely shows its age.

4:07 I could imagine Espio, Vector, Rouge, Wave and Storm as knights. All these characters have a sense of duty. I mean Espio is the worlds greatest ninja, Vector is the leader of the chaotix, Rouge is a GUN agent, a treasure hunter and a member of Team Dark, Wave while she does underhanded things in Riders, she still showed loyalty to the Babylons and Storm obviously shows unwavering loyalty towards Jet.
Espio, I can get behind. The others, not so much. Vector may be the team leader, but he doesn’t seem very honorable. Rouge isn’t a GUN agent anymore, and honor and duty are things she couldn’t care less about. Wave, while loyal to Jet, is less than honorable given that she cheated the race in Riders. Storm… Well, Storm’s an idiot.
@@tonysonic456 Fun fact: the director of Black Knight, Tetsu Katano, was interviewed by Sonic Channel shortly before the game's release, and he said this: "The fact that Shadow is Lancelot was a request from overseas that came true. Considering the actual episodes involving Lancelot, it was a little different from what we had in mind for development, but it is not unreasonable considering the popularity of the character." One can't help but wonder who the original choice for Lancelot would have been. (He also mentioned that Omega and Big were supposed to be in the game at one point, but he didn't specify what their roles would have been.)
i loved this game! and jason, you will always be the best sonic voice actor.
This game is another of my favorites, so I have a lot to say (again).
0:48 - And because of that the series generally avoided realism like the plague during the 2010s. Thankfully, it's apparently making a comeback in Frontiers (whose director, Morio Kishimoto, was the lead designer for the Storybook games).
1:13 - I honestly didn't notice that was the same chant until now. There's a lot of subtle continuity nods in this game (like when Sonic refuses to give up during his fight with Merlina, and "It Doesn't Matter" starts playing).
4:24 - That's actually a really good point that had never occurred to me before. I just figured those characters were chosen because their personalities were similar to the Arthurian characters. (I still think Storm would have made a good Sir Kay.)
10:16 - Your laugh kind of sounds like Sonic's laugh.
12:27 - That's not quite right. Japanese samurai committed seppuku to restore their honor, true, but not European knights. (Chivalry was heavily influenced by the doctrines of the Catholic church, which frowns on suicide even today.) The real sin here is that the Japanese developers seem to have confused the two codes.
13:07 - In the Japanese version of the game, it's more evident that Sonic was flirting with Percival (similar to how he did with Nimue earlier) and Caliburn was gently reminding him that there was work to be done. Either way, what he said was perfectly reasonable under the circumstances. And speaking of pervy jokes--Sonic replies to Caliburn's remark with "Don't be so jealous. You're the great sacred sword, so doesn't that make you popular?"
15:07 - When Sonic Adventure 2 has a plot involving terrorism, government conspiracies, unethical experiments and the brutal killing of a young girl, nobody panics. But when Shadow the Hedgehog has some characters say "damn" and "hell" a few times, everybody loses their minds!
15:40 - Not to mention that Arthur being an illusion doesn't really change anything. Sonic believed he was stabbing a real guy to death with a sword, and had no objection to doing so. Besides, Arthur was clearly a sentient being of some kind, flesh and blood or not, so Sonic ending his existence still counts as a kill in my opinion.
16:09 - Since the Lady of the Lake is Lancelot's adoptive mother (something Chariii even acknowledges in his video) he could have gotten magical shoes from her.
19:07 - The title of the book changing while Sonic is talking to Amy also proves he was telling the truth. Also, Sonic Unleashed was written by Kiyoko Yoshimura and this game was written by Shiro Maekawa. The two of them had worked together before on both Sonic X and Sonic '06. (Imagine--different writers of different games actually communicating with each other in order to create a cohesive narrative. What a novel concept!)
9:42 So yeah, he’s trying to hint a Yu-Gi-Oh reference since Knuckles and Yugi share the same voice actor.
Now I get why Sonic didn't want to lose that second chili dog, it was for Amy. SonAmy confirmed my friends.
And for the love of god, nobody take what I said out of context. Cuz you can see how people might twist my words.
Just out of curiosity, I checked. Sonic has _never_ been shown eating more than one chili dog at one time in any cutscene (or even in promotional art), but he _has_ been depicted sharing them with people he cares about multiple times. So, yeah--it was almost certainly for Amy. Once you know that, his over-the-top reaction to losing it goes from merely hilarious to downright adorable.
This game is the direct definition

9:43 Charrii5 is referencing the fact that Dan Green is most iconic as the voice of Yugi Muto and Pharaoh Atem from Yu-Gi-Oh!, who is the King of Games. Ironically Jason Griffith was also in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX as Atticus, who was a former SHADOW Rider that plays a RED EYES deck. Therefore this scene fits more coming from Jason, and not Dan.

Frontiers is the HD port of Sonic and the Black Knight, but replaces King Arthur with the Greek Pantheon. I can't wait for him to destroy everything like Kratos in GoW 3.

Charriii saying that Gawain should have said "I challenge you to a duel" because Dan Green voices Knuckles (and Gawain in this case) as well as the Pharaoh aka Yami Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh.
The joke is pop culture reference to the famous Yu-Gi-Oh line "It's time to duel!"
In short what Charriii is trying to say is:
Dan Green is not saying "It's time to duel" in this scene.

I like sonic and the black knight because swing sword is fun and my favorite level is molten mine and my favorite boss is the final boss and maybe sonic frontier might be the third entry because 1. This is not the sonic world 2. The aesthetic seems similar to Black Knight 3. Different energy in the world and 4. The box art.

Because it wasn't conveyed well at all. Anyone who doesn't know that Dan Green is a voice actor for Yu-Gi-Oh would be completely lost. The few things I wanted to change were the most offensive.

Also heres something funny, and this guy Charrii5 fails to make, is that the Sword that Sonic uses, is voiced by the guy who also did. . .Reala from NiGHTS JOD. Ever since I learned that, I can just see that this general of nightmares aiding Sonic, while he's in a cursed sword form and by Sonic's help, well you can imagion how those go.

Btw, here's some useless trivia that's a bit of a missed opportunity.. The sword Sonic used first in the tutorial level before getting Caliburn, was called Clarent, which is historically Arthur's first sword (which was later stolen by Mordred)

You know because Knuckles’ VA Dan Green also voiced Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi from The 4Kids English Dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters.
It’s one of his many roles that fans recognize him for.
Edit: and the thing with With YU-GI-Oh! Is that the word “Duel” is a very common terminology within it.
And the phrase “I challenge you to a duel!” Or “IT IS TIME TO DUEL!” Is a very common saying in the world of YU-GI-OH!
And the ladder phrase was actually the catchphrase of Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi within their series.
And Dan Green, The guy who did their 4Kids English Localization was the one who made the phrase very memorable or rather “Iconic” for a lot of fans of the series and in the game in general.

Upon re-vireing the video, I noted a flaw with one of your sins(there are many but someone already made a video on it so I won't discuss those) but at 10:20-10:30, you're using clips that are anywhere from 3 years ago to a few months old)save for one but that's barely an example) so even if he was talking about difficulty (witch wasn't even the point of the sin), you're still using information that wasn't available back when he made the video witch is Ironic considering you said this very thing in Unleashed when called him out about beating Eggman in Unleashed.
As for sin 34, I'm aware you remade it but it should still be pointed out as not only was the wording very poor but the fact you still let it in the video w/o thinking of implications really hurts your overall point(especially since it was established he wasn't joking in any capacity). Anyways, that's all I wanted to bring up.
Well, even if you look at older videos, you’ll find that barely anyone struggles with the knights. They really aren’t that hard.
Also, I’m well aware of what the new sin implies. People have said that you can joke about suicide if you’re a fan of dark humor. However, that is dependent on context. Take SMG4 as an example. In the normal videos, they joke about suicide often, and it’s funny. But in the arcs, especially the current one, death is treated very seriously because of the context. The comedy of someone offing themself comes from them seeing something so cringy that they don’t want to live anymore. Meanwhile the arcs are mostly serious stories with lasting consequences. That’s why context is important, and in this context, Gawain offing himself is a very serious situation.
@@tonysonic456 While the former may be technically true, the main point is that wasn't even the point of the sin to begin with. To put it as bluntly as possible, you sinned him for the wrong thing and failed to see what the sin actually was(Your Sonic Adventure 1 video is riddled with these as one commentator pointed out). As for the latter, I realized this but as you said, context is important here and again, this was one video after you (or rather, TV) got onto him about "jokingly" about this and as established, he wasn't joking in any sense of the word.
But even if that wasn't the case, the real issue was the fact you allowed it into the video to begin with. Let me elaborate. I understand that he(Charriii) could've been more clear about it(trust me, I'm guilty of this at times) but considering you have a very bad habit of twisting context (intentionally or not) as well as Slandering, it comes off as poor taste when he used a video that happened 4 years later. Not only that but didn't even apologize for it after being called out(which I can somewhat ignore as he was taking a lot of heat at the time). This is why I get onto you about actually talking to him and confirming these things as a result. Using the excuse "the year of Sonic" doesn't cut it either and even if it did, when it ends, I don't wanna hear how you don't have time anymore if- scratch that, when you get to his other videos (especially Undertale witch I actually played and know a lot about). There's more but I've already gone on long enough so I'll just leave it at that and let you reply.

Yes, I'm mildly biased but I put that aside when it comes to making a point. Also, you have a very... let's put it nicely and say apologetic attitude towards the games in question (again, the classic games, Sonic Adventure, 06) which comes off as unprofessional. Again, this ignores the fact for someone who's "Supposedly" understanding of the format, makes a lot/the same mistakes in nearly every video. I'd forgive this if this was your own video w/o interjecting someone else's words and you approach this with an open mind but you very often don't. Again, if these were reviews and he was serious, I'd 100% agree with you on most of the sins but he's already established (multiple times) that most of his sins(save for security breach witch I already mentioned with someone else) are taken with a huge grain of salt and that to say nothing of the fact you sin someone else humor witch again, is subjective. Anyways, I better leave it there before I continue rambling on cause believe me, I could. I await your response
@@DShy96 I don’t remember which stream it was. I think it was one of the UnWiished streams, but that’s a wild guess. Also, in case you haven’t noticed, I have tried to ignore the jokes more often, unless they’re presented in a way that makes it seem like they’re a knock against the game. I understand wanting to be funny along with giving criticism, but Charriii has said multiple times that he’s not giving criticism while giving actual criticism. Not to mention, it’s kind of hard to tell when he’s joking sometimes. Not all the time, but it is noticeable.
I will fully admit that I care about a lot of the games I’ve included, but I’ve also included games that I genuinely hate like Rivals 2, Shadow, and Chronicles. And despite that, I’ve been just as hard as I’ve been for the games I love. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m waiting in the theater to watch an early showing of Halloween Ends.
