Great video and great tips! One thing that you may have wanted to add while talking about gear is soft plastics and flies. I have had some of my best days throwing soft plastics and flies for Great Lakes fish! These include a pink worm, soft eggs, plastic and normal nymphs, yarn flies! These can be very effective on heavily pressured fish that don’t see these imitations often.
Wild seeing this knowing I probably have watched you or passed you in public. I'm working in Bridgewater building right behind you as of right now, definitely take peeks at the activity on the river
Centerpin fishing is like a drug once you start catching fish it's extremely addictive. I hated it at first but forced myself to learn and now solidly hooked, I have a BER reel and an Okuma Aventa reels. Spend the money on good gear you won't regret it.
Was that last Wednesday? I was the one spey fishing by the first bridges down from the dam. Awesome videos thanks for the content and the informational part of it
For two piece rod : place hook on last guide of first section, break rod down, put tip of second section down by end of handle, reel tight. Then use your reel cover to hold it together
Good to see the DNR down there. So many idiots just snagging fish. The day they take the dam out a lot of “fishermen” are going to have to work a lot harder and actually fish instead of lining the bottom of the river.
Watch out fur Grand Valley State University security. They kicked me out for fishing on their property. They don't allow it. I called the DNR and they told me they own to the middle of the river.
@@FishFray you must get the best ones. I’ve cracked floats easy, broke a skein cane hd after using it for close to 3 hours, my friend also broke his skein cane hd after a couple months of use. I replaced my rod with the closer and stopped buying their floats too
I've had good experiences with my gear. Nothing wrong with anyone having a preference for other companies. I just recommend what I've used with success
It’s nice to have friends with boats. LOL. Great way to cover water that many can’t access from shore. Well done Fray.
For sure ! Thanks
I used to go to classes too b4 the chrome called me away.
Thanks for going over your rigs. It was helpful.
I agree about centerpining
once you get a fish on the pin you will never go want to go back to the spinning! nice vid!
Yupp! Thanks !
How do you tell if they are "hatchery fish"??
Fin clips or worn/"folded" dorsal from growing up in concrete
Thanks Fray for sharing this! Great catch!
Thanks for watching!

Do you have to have a jet motor to make it over the burps there?

Is this grand rapids area?
Yes
How do you pack up your centerpin rod and reel like that?
For two piece rod : place hook on last guide of first section, break rod down, put tip of second section down by end of handle, reel tight. Then use your reel cover to hold it together
Im down there quite a bit on weekends and after work. Would be sweet to meet up
How do you tell if they are "hatchery fish"??
Clipped adipose fin is a hatchery fish
Is the line on the reel floating line?
Yup, floating mono

I hope I'm around the area to experience the first few seasons of steelhead fishing without the dam
Nice video but I would have appreciated more info on the jigs. A close up of the second jig box would have been appreciated. Tight lines
Thanks !
Post the web site

Im not sure where you're talking about , that's surprising
Everything from blood run breaks easy
I have dozens of videos proving otherwise ...
