- Join us for a day trip from Lima, Peru as we head 40 kilometers outside of the city centre to visit the Pachacamac Ruins and Museum followed by a Peruvian food buffet at Dpaso Mamacona which also featured traditional Peruvian folklore dancing, music and horse performance.
Pachacamac located in the Valley of the Lurín River is named after the earth maker and flourished for 1,300 years before Spanish invasion. Some of the famous archeological structures include the pyramids and temple of the sun.
After visiting this site and the museum we head over to Dpaso Mamacona where we had an amazing Peruvian food buffet featuring appetizers, mains and desserts. During the meal we were entertained by Peruvian folklore dancing and music and following the meal we witnessed a horse performance.
Overall, it was a fantastic day trip from Lima and something we'd recommend if you've been in the city for a whole and you're looking for a change of scenery.

Day Trip From Lima, Peru | Pachacamac Ruins + Peruvian Food Buffet + Peruvian Folk Dancing Travel Video Transcript:
It is time for a day trip. We have been spending a lot of time in Lima. And today we finally convinced my Aunt to take us somewhere. It is nice of her to be honest. So we at Pachacamac. We drove maybe about an hour outside of Lima. It was a very short drive to be honest. So the plan is we're going to visit the museum of Pachacamac, then the ruins of Pachacamac. And then we are going to a show to see the Peruvian horses do the dance. It is like a horse show. It is kind of like the Peruvian gauchos right? It should be really cool. From what I've read we have a buffet. We have a Peruvian buffet for so we're going to be eating a lot of really good Peruvian food too. So basically three really awesome activities for the day. Let's get started.
Pachacamac is an archeological site that sits 40 kilometers southeast of Lima in the Lurin Valley. The archeological complex is made up of plazas, palaces and temple pyramids but our first stop was a museum to see some of the artifacts that have been found in the area.
A few quick facts before we start touring the ruins. So tickets we paid 15 Soles per person.
The earliest construction in Pachacamac date from the first century but that site reached its peak during the Wari Culture sometime around the 10th century. This was considered to be an important religious site and pilgrims would come to pay homage to their creator god Pachacamac. Who was associated with War and whose anger resulted in tremors and earthquakes.
We've left the ruins behind and arrived at Dpaso Mamacona.
This is my starter. I went for causa, some ceviche, tiradito and a few different salads.
I have potato with huancaina sauce which is really really good. I have causa which I also doused with that too which again is like soft potato inside. It is like a yellow potato shepherd's pie kind of. Inside you have avocado and meat. And then this was I forget the name of this one. Do you remember? Tiradito. Yes, it is fish with uh aji sauce. But a spicy yellow pepper sauce. You got octopus as well. Which is what is that one called again? Pulpo.

I'm exactly like Sam. I like knowing a bit of the history, but when it comes to actually visiting a historical place, I like to be able to just explore on my own and take my time. These ruins are truly gorgeous! And those horses are too! I love your food videos, but it's fun to see you guys visiting new and different places as well.
Thank you! We're going to try and include more travel heavy content in the future. This series was heavily food based.

wow, ese postre es muy bueno...

The salad is call "Solterito de queso", it´s a recipe from Arequipa and the glass in which Sam is drinking beer has the shape of a Kero. The Kero was a ceremonial Inca vessel where inca people drunk chicha.
Thank you for letting us know about that!

Hi guys, I love your videos. Can you guys make a video on how to become a foreign home owner in Lima Peru?
Thanks Glenda. That is an interesting topic.
You guys are great. I am Peruvian and I have been living in the states for about 30 years. Never been back. Your videos bring out a lot of good memories. You definitely do Peru a lot of justice. By the way, Audrey are you Peruvian? Regards guys
Thank you very much! Would you consider revisiting again soon? Yes, Audrey is half Peruvian.
@@samuelandaudrey Teacher salary does not give much room for travel LOL. But definitely looking into it. Regards :)
What kind of cameras are you guys using? Love watching the videos!!
Thank you! We're using a Panasonic GH5 and Canon G7X.
Another vintage comment:
SAM - OMG, that's an olive sauce....AUDREY: OOOOOH........you guys rock...:-)

You should visit the city of Caral, and/or to the huacachina oasis, very wonderful places :D.
Thank you! We had a chance to visit Huacachina 3 years ago and love it.
Audrey are you planning to do a similar trip to Buenos Aires with your dad? I would like you to dig deeper into the food and culture of Argentina
We hope to do that in early 2019.
Buenos videos, éxitos 🙌🏾
Gracias.
Hi guys, was the pachacamac ruins tour car based or foot based. I'm asking because in the video you guys are filming from a car. trying to coordinate a visit there😊
We did both! It's a big site, so you drive around and stop at the different landmarks and then explore on foot. There are day tours to Pachacamac if you don't want to worry about renting a car.
@samuelandaudrey Thank you guys!
I'll bet George is lurking around there somewhere, perhaps hiding in one of the ruins...maybe even juicing a nice bottle of red too.
LOL!

hi Sam and Audrey I am from Toronto love your channel.....i am thinking about visiting Lima and Machu Picchu but everyone i talk to say it is super dangerous and the Canadian Government website recommended not to go ....any suggestions?
Ah, we recommend Peru highly. What did it say exactly on that site? Is a strong warning or just some advisory about certain things?
@@samuelandaudrey Thanks for the reply guys but your video looks so good i have to go try the Peruvian food ...... just booked my trip so excited :)
