You can still find excellent and cheap ceviche (and parihuela, my favorite) in Callao and Pueblo Libre. Eat where Peruvians eat lunch, don't go to La Mar or other tourist places.
If you’re getting sushi from posh restaurants, then yes, the sushi will be extra pricey. But, if you're getting sushi from Nikkei mom-and-pop stores, you will get amazing sushi that's just as delicious or more, and, on the contrary, super cheap.
Peru, 🇵🇪 also known as the millennial country of CULTURAL DIVERSITY and 5,000 flavors. It is the only country in the world with at least 8 types of cuisine: Creole, Marine, Andean, Amazonian, Nikkei, Chifa, Vegetarian and Haute cuisine. And CEVICHE is part of the Marine cuisine of Peru. Lima has great temperate weather because of the Humbolt or Perú current, which brings ice cold water from the south, and the Andes mountains which block the warm winds from the amazon. So even though its northern than Rio, its closer to the equator, so it should be much warmer, however, its not. Coastal Peru has the best secret climate in the world, Mediterranean climate seems extreme by comparison.
Los Picarones look like doughnuts but it does not taste the same, it is different, soifter and with the syrup is very good. Peruvian Ceviche/Cebiche is a delicious dish, like many others.delicacy dishes from there.
This is also my first time seeing Lima, and it is really cool! Its coastline and park are so beautiful. I like the mosaic tiles in the park, which is very reminiscent of Barcelona, Spain! That Lima cultural site is well preserved, but curious what to do when it rains? Peruvian corn kernels are really big, I probably haven’t seen any one bigger than that. Thank you very much for sharing! 👍🥰🙏
Love Peru! In Lima dinner at La Rosa Nautica. Main plaza at night is beautiful. Drivers in Lima are crazy. Love Cusco, Terapoto, Loreto, Ausangate, Manchu Picchu. The train to Manchu Picchu is epic. Swam in the Amazon every day.

I love Miraflores. I stayed in Radisson Red. Managed to visit Larcomar. Nice coffee shop and restaurants to eat with Pacific Ocean view. My fave is lomo saltado and ceviche. Enjoy Lima. Do the day trip to Ica and visit Pisco, Nasca and the marine park. It was fun. Love your videos.

Great video Carol and Chris, Lima looks nice, loved the architecture and food, especially the doughnuts looked tasty. all the best guys....enjoy your adventures! 😊😊
I just came back from Lima, stayed for 15 days, my family lives there, and we have a house in one of the nicest districts in Lima. I will be back in a 1.5 month to celebrate Christmas in Peru. I live in Florida USA.❤
Great to see videos from Peru. Apart from the Cusco area there is a great coastal run. The historic centre of Arequipa is great. You can also head to the Colca canyon. Nasca then to fly the lines. Haucochino oasis for the great sand dunes. Paracas for wild life off the coast.
Looks like Lima has improved since I was there in the late 90's. Back then they had just vanquished the Shining Path guerillas, who'd forced tons of people into huge slums around the city. Miraflores is the best neighborhood still.
yeap!! fortunately things have changed since those gloomy times.....The City Centre of Lima has also started recovering little by little its brightness.....
@@billyholic There's around 8 districts in Lima which are decent to live in, so not really that bad, obviously the outskirtrs are all slums but you don't really go there unless you are broke
Enjoyed your video of Lima. I spent a few days there a few years ago on my way to Machu Picchu. You covered many of the places I also went to. I was surprised you could take photos in the cathedral. When I went we could not. I was also surprised you did not go into the catacombs. There they had the bones of up to 28000 people. It was a bit spooky but interesting. They definitely did not allow photos down there then. I am glad you saw the Love Park and the ruins in the city. I also stumbled upon those ruins when there. Too bad you did not get a chance to go to the Aquapark next to the stadium. It is an amazing place also. Something else I saw there was the changing of the guard at the Presidential Palace. That was a good experience. You were there next to the palace though. One food that is unique to Peru is the Guinea pig. I did not see you trying that lol 😂 You may know there is a place in the Sacred Valley called the Sky Lodge. Several UA-camrs have stayed there. You can see it from the train to Aguas Caliente. Good luck on your Peruvian travels.
I haven’t visited Peru in over 6 years, this video is making me want to go back. I did the paragliding in Larco Mar, it was such an amazing experience with breathtaking views.

Excellent video of Miraflores and the center of Lima. The wooden balconies are along ancient parade routes to provide a good view of the parade. The food looked beautiful. Causa combined with ceviche was kind of a surprise. Causa is made with papas amarillas (yellow potatoes) and aji amarillo (yellow peppers). Another favorite apetizer is Papas a la Huancaína, wich is yellow potatoes and a spicy cheese sauce. When I lived in Lima in the 70s and 80s we would take the children to the coast in Barranco on Sunday afternoons for Picarones. Other than the shape they can't be compared to doughnuts and the sauce is made of chancaca (panela in Mexico) or raw sugar (molasses) with cinnamon, anise and cloves. Finally, the ruines near Miraflores (in San Isidro) used to be just a pile of dirt when I lived there. All the restoration has been done since that time. Incredible. Thanks for the nice synopsis!!
Thanks for the info! The guide told us that the ruins were used for motocross since it was completely covered in mud and dirt, and some people even lived on top. She also said that it will probably take another 40 years to uncover everything
That does not surprise me. There probably was no mud, but just sand and dirt. The last time it rained 4 cm in Lima was in January, 1970, which aslo caused the new ceiling to collapse in the brand new airport. 🙂 Have a great time in Cuzco and MP!
