I don't think it's deforestation the pine forests are carefully managed to harvest mature wood that was planted for that purpose and they will replant it and start again...
Great to follow your journey, Simon. Enjoying this on my lunch breaks and its such a nice escape! The logging is interesting as they are doing it here too around Burrator reservoir on Dartmoor. EuroForest ( I think) are taking down the firs that were planted for industry after WW1 but they are now replacing with native trees.
Did the EHW in August with my daughter, we went the wrong way a number of times, lack of way markers, just adds to the adventure. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Been looking forward to the second part... some of those trees are so tall and love al those logs. Shame about them having to be cut down though. Awesome breakfast spot with views too 👌🏻⛰ An Dubh Lochan looks stunning!! 😍 Cant believe you got told off by the farmer haha, stop trying to take chops off them I know you're hungry 🤣🤣 Loved the B roll scenery shots too 👍🏻 Glad the inside of your tent didnt get to wet and glad you found somewhere, always good when you get settled at your pitch, glad the tent held up ok with the peg issue haha. Thanks again for showing us the map parts very helpful. Loved it Si looks like you had an awesome adventure 😀 Look forward to part 3...... ATB mate... Chris ✌🏼
Cheers Chris, thanks for taking time to watch all of the video mate. I hope your back is on the mend, keep those urban trig points going on Insta! Cheers, Si
Nice one Simon. I recall covering sleeping bag footbox with a dry bag thinking my feet surely don’t sweat much. They do. Sleeping bag soaking in morning. As a result I got a pertex quantum footbox on my next sleeping bag and it is excellent. Cumulus offer a fairly light (140g) pertex quantum bivi bag that could be “retro-fitted” to your bag. Waterproof jacket over the footbox a reasonable alternative. Atb gordon
Newspaper soaks up the condensation if put between plastic and sleeping bag. Then you can use to clean the base of tent, newspaper can be used for various tasks.
@@SimonOutdoors I’ve only seen it on television, it looks pretty spectacular. It was also used as a stand in for Balmoral in Netflix The Crown. Talking of Balmoral, google the giant pyramid there !
Great remote views. I've read that this isn't great for waymarks so no surprise it's not always obvious where to go. Shame with so few people about the farmer wasn't so friendly, still very nice of the lady to show you her box...Intrigued if you actually bought any treats.
Really enjoying this and your relaxed style, looking forward to the next upload. I'm impressed with your willpower to continue filming when the weather turns bad - I'm sure I'd just have my head down. I changed my tent this year and went for an outer first pitch - it's nice not to have to worry about a wet inner when it's launching it down. Take care.
Great video as usual. Nice work Simon. I'm hopeful the cut trees you saw are part of a plantation. I suspect they'll be continuously cutting and replanting.
Was supposed to do this trail earlier this year, am gutted I never got round to it but next summer could be the time! I do the same with a bin liner over my sleeping bag … but someone suggested one of those emergency foil type sleeping bags just to cover over the end a bit better and keep your feet warmer … but do t pull it all the way up as you would get too much condensation x
I wouldn't worry about the farmer, does he actually care about his sheep though? Nope, he only has an interest in their welfare(to a degree) because he can't get paid by slaughterhouse if they are unhealthy animals so he's an absolute hypocrite. Plant-based is the only way to fight climate change, facts! Great vid Simon, enjoy them!! Cheers :)

another good day Simon just wondering is that the OMM Halo jacket you've got as I have asked Santa for one and was interested in your thoughts atb daz
Hi Daz, it was excellent. Very surprised at how 'paper bag' like it wads in terms of weight! No issues with water ingress, thanks, Si
