    And another stellar review is in the can. Sadly, my previous suspicions were confirmed. The tires did it a disservice on the six problems. That's unfortunate, but not unexpected. I held much higher hopes for its success, but I am not shocked at the actual performance. But that's okay. Overall, the rig is pretty composed and looks fairly well planted. What it can do, it does well. What it can't do, it tried hard anyway. And it looks pretty good doing it. Even when it fails. This is still a lot of car for the cost. Bigger tires, and/or portal axles, and that's like, problem solved, man.
    Honestly, I really think the only part that is actually letting this down is the size of the tires. If they were just a bit bigger, and maybe with a little bit softer insert, there really wouldn't be much else to do to it. There are other rigs that can do all six problems with straight axles, I rather think this probably could too. With, you know, the right tires and inserts. And maybe heavier wheels or some added weight on the hubs or something. It doesn't seem like it needs much to be a solid contender.
    On a side note, those tires are remarkably similar to the old military NDT (Non Directional Tire) bar grip tires in pattern. With better performance, I think. Make 'em bigger and I think this would have had everything but maybe 4 and 6. I am unconvinced that this tread pattern will successfully conquer those two. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, though, if a larger size were available to test with.
    Yeah, I still really like this car. Good show, mate. Really enjoyed this one.

      Thanks! I really enjoyed making it, too! I've since gotten it out on the rocks again with 4.65" tires and it did better.
      But I also want to point out that finishing two of the six problems still means it's a very capable machine. I have a LOT of cars here that can't even finish one of these problems, including the Knightrunner, RC4WD TF2, BRX01, MST DC1, etc. The Pro Runner is still a very serviceable rock crawler!

    As I've suggested to you before mate, the sort of wrap-up commentary you did in the last few minutes of this video is exactly why I'm becoming such a fan of your channel. It's as if you say to yourself "What are all of the questions someone might ask me if they were right here....ok, now I'll succinctly answer them."

      Thank you! I can't really take credit for that part, not the way you're saying anyway. Because I don't watch reviews or read about these things before I test them, you're actually getting my first thoughts on a car after driving it for the first time, and then again after modding it. We're both learning, honestly! So glad its helpful 😎

      @RCTNT ... well if you're doing it on the fly, that also still deserves credit.
      I worked 20 years as a research engineer, but am now moreso involved in psychology within engineering environments. Experiencing an interaction, and then being able to reflect and effectively convey feedback and improvements in a useful manner is one of the skills you expect from the likes of test pilots and test drivers. You may not even fully be aware that you are pretty effective at this, but you seem to do it better than most RC UA-camrs. It's a unique attribute to your channel (and it's ever harder to differentiate yourself from the competition these days).

      I'm really glad you're enjoying the car! It's quite good in stock form, honestly. The usual suspects would go well in this one, of course: brushless servo, Fusion 1800 with stock pinion, injora beadlock wheels and Proline Trenchers 4.19" (not 4.75, they'll be too big). Those changes alone will yield tremendous improvements. I'd probably start with beadlock wheels, then either the servo (like the jx servo 45kg brushless one) or the Trenchers.
      If you do the Trenchers, be aware the stock foams that they come with are going to be too firm for this car. When you buy the Injora wheels, look into their 4.19" dual stage foams or else their silicone inserts (hard) in 4.19" to suit the tires.
      But honestly, if you change nothing, you've still got a fantastic rig. Have fun!

    Hi there i love this car, i was looking into the rescuer but this one is a lot cheaper. And im looking for my first 1/10 crawler. I have a tr4m now and im really enjoying it so i want to see if i like 1/10 crawlers as much. Now i was looking on asiatees through the link in your discription and i noticed there arent any parts available. Do you know if they will be and this is only because it is just released?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Рік тому +1

      I don't know if Atees will stock the parts, but they're certainly already available on Ali stores.
      Many parts are broadly compatible between other vehicles, typically servos and motors, and they're the things that usually break.
      But for this model, perhaps the magnetic wiring for the lights could be an issue. I found the replacement already, here:
      s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mswWQjQ
      Other things that might need fixing, I'm not sure. I have many cars, as you can see on the channel here, and really the main things that break on crawlers is servos. They're fairly universal, thankfully! (and speaking of universal, the Pro Runner uses steel universals in the front axles, so it's unlikely you'll ever break them).

    • @tcc8499
      @tcc8499 Рік тому +2

      @RCTNT okey thank you very much for the response, I'm used to my tr4-m in wich I broke: servo, diffs and the drive shaft in like 5 or 6 runs, I drive it outside maybe it can't handle that but it's still not very nice. By the way, I love your reviews everytime I come across a new crawler ik interested in the first thing I do Is see if you did an review on it😅

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Рік тому +1

      @tcc8499 haha right, thank you!
      I can understand your experience with the TRX4m. The smaller scale stuff is usually not as durable as the 1/10 crawlers, which actually might be the sweet spot for ultimate durability, now I think about it. Modern crawlers from any big brand are unlikely to break, and if they do, again it'll be an electronic part that dies from heat, mud or water ingress. Sometimes bearings, now I think of it. These are all fairly universal parts though. But they really are very good overall.
      You do snap an axle or a drive shaft here and there but it's becoming quite rare. Models are getting very, very good!

    Would you recommend it for a first time rc trail/light crawler? Do you know if there are mod parts it (snorkel, roofrack, roof lights and so on) or if maybe it would be possible to 3d print some?
    Also, do you plan on making a video with the improvement you said and test it again?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely, yes. I've discussed mods for this in my last live stream, but in short, there is a range of stuff for it from rgt. However, it's performance oriented, and I'll do some of that.
      3d printing might be the way to go, though roof racks in particular don't fare well on crawler roofs. A generic metal one would work though, as would anything made for the TRX4 2021 Bronco.
      As far as a first crawler goes, it's easy to recommend. Have a read of this for more thoughts related to this question:

      @@RCTNT I've found that making the roof rack out of TPU results in a moderately flexible and durable fixture. Solid enough to hold its shape and fulfill its function, flexible enough to not break when abused. I've made a couple and none have broken yet, despite repeated rollovers on rough ground. I like to do side mirrors and windscreen wipers the same way, for the same reason. TPU isn't the answer for everything, but it's good for this stuff.

      EX86130 is a very complete package out of the box.
      EX86100 V2 I don't know about, but I've just bought one and I guess we'll find out!
      The HB I'm not sure about. I've been offered one for review before but have declined, to date. I wasn't sure I wanted a TRX4 clone on the channel, but then I've since heard it's a bit different, so now I'm not sure.

    How would it compare to the HB Toys Beluga ?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  11 місяців тому +1

      I don't have the r1003 so I can only guess based on what I've seen and what I know. I think you'll find the Pro Runner here to be a more complete vehicle. It's the little things, which I'll list below, that add up to give you a better all round vehicle.
      It won't need upgrades, unless you want bigger tires and heavier wheels. The stock ones are really quite ok - check out my muddy running video recently, this thing drove 4 hours in muddy slop and was fine.
      I have many RGT vehicles and they've been getting better and better, in the last couple of years especially.
      The HB Toys will be cheaper. They've gone their own way with the radio, for example, while RGT is using a known and trusted DumboRC model. The RGT has front uni axles, while the R1003 has weaker CVDs. The light kit is exceptionally good on the RGT, being a DumboRC module with that clever magnetic attachment. I don't know what the HB Toys model is running but it probably isn't as good - though the functions look similar. The RGT is fully waterproof and has a good strong servo.
      I have a lot of crawlers and the Pro Runner is possibly my top pick for value. It's not a TRX4 clone, they've developed their own car here, though it's a shame the body is unlicensed. Overall, I can't speak to the R1003 but I can absolutely recommend the Pro Runner.

      But yes, it's a peaky course. The aim was to make to nearly impossible to finish all 6. It needs to be harder, as too many rigs now are finishing all 6.

    It's an awesome looking rc. I actually think I looks even better than the TRX4.. And yes it's in my opinion not a crawler but a trail truck only. So it a little misguided to take it on a crawler track.

      I hear you, but I disagree. A crawler has locked axles, DIG, beadlock wheels, servo on axle, front overdrive. A trail truck has IFS and or open/unlockable diffs, that sort of thing.
      Clearly the definition is subjective to some point, but I'll say this: Trail rigs have no hope of completing even a single problem on my test course. That this can do two of 6 in stock form speaks to its crawler design. It's really quite good for the tire size, possibly the best crawler available with C1-friendly tires!
      I've filmed it already with bigger tires and we'll see how that changes things. Then, some basic mods and who knows, we'll see just how far it can go!

      @@RCTNT not totally agree with you there. IFS in some cases is even better that a straight axel. So not only made for trail.
      I'll say if the manufacturer go for a high detail body and class 1 tires they aim for trail truck not a crawler. Yes It will have some crawler elements in it's design. But there is not that many other ways to build a 4x4.
      I'm not into crawling I build all my trucks to be trail trucks with some abilities to take down some obstacles on the way.
      But seeing forward for next video.

      Sure, fair points too. I have no dispute with you on that and even my real car has IFS up front, though with lockers it'll go nearly anywhere.
      But yeah, I do see the Pro Runner as a crawler and certainly wouldn't call it misguided to test it on my course - the whole idea is to see how it compares to other crawlers in stock form, which also gives me a benchmark to test effectiveness of mods. And now we know! 😊
      (It's such a good crawler, it managed 2 of 6 problems, in fact. I don't think I have any other vehicle with this tire size that could do this, especially with straight axles. My C1 SCX10 III that I drove to 2nd place nationally this year has portal axles and I am pretty sure it can only do problem 1, 2 and 5 - and it is about as optimised a C1 rig as you could make, broadly speaking!)

      @@RCTNT I understand. And it makes good sense to test it on the same way as all the others to make a point. And to compare.

      @@RCTNT hi again I would hear if you could make a comparison of the 3 RGT models the Rescuer the Challenger and the Pro Runner. I have the Rescuer myself and consider to buy the Challenger. How much difference is there?
