Check out the CowperTrucks 'suzuki extreme 4x4 challenge' vids here on youtube. Extreme cutting brakes! In these cars the copilot runs brakes for each wheel and they are working hard for sure.
Yes I had it on an old utility trike called a Helm Farmhand. I copied it for a VW trike that had problems steering under acceleration. Just right and left hand brakes instead of dront and rear.
Not going to lie, a cutting brake is a pretty cool feature for a crawler. Much more viable a thing for a true rock crawler, but happy to see some innovation! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Matt, I didn't even know of cutting brakes before this car. I learned from a few commenters here. It's a great idea and I like it better than DIG (for turning). Just would like to see full commitment to it with brakes that clamp well enough to work on rock. Someone in the comments suggested these would be good as front brakes on 2WD models, too. I thought that was a fine idea and it might work really well! Could be a useful feature on SCTs in particular.
This is pretty awesome!!! Love new ideas and having functions on my crawlers. Comp is fun but there is something about the scale side that brings pure happiness!🎉
This guy gets it. Yes, thank you, and agreed 👍 You get to kinda role play with the car, like you're in it, using the various features on the trail as you drive. There's a child-like element of play to it. It's very appealing.
Been a factory Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda , pro bicycle mechanic for combined 45 years. From the 70's on, I have lived to see technology advances across all these areas. Now RC. Some advances are good. Example: Shimano SIS. STI. Look pedals, to name a few. Then suspension came. Then 8 speed, 9, 10, 11, 12 speed. Mechanical disc, Hydraulic disc. Steel frames, aluminum, carbon glued, then full carbon frames. If your a person not in the industry, of seeing first hand the pro's and cons of " new" technology, the consumer can easily get caught up in the " more is better" tidal wave. I have seen much of this. A lot of innovation is driven not so much as necessary, but by engineers and business to make profit. Some innovation is actually really good, and adds benefits. Some is terrible and causes more problems than does good. When carbon fiber bicycles came out, everyone is like "wow, cool". Ive worked on many a carbon frame an seen the cheap , engineering on these frames. And I mean the top brands. Some brands do it right. Some not. Innovation can be good, or can be just more complicated and $$$ costly.
Sometimes innovation brings new tech to the fore in an unrefined manner, but through that process you get to see refinement as more folks spend time engineering the idea, eventually leading to a refined and useful new way of doing things. Remember when v-brakes were the new hotness in the 90s? Then hydraulic discs became a thing and now even cable-actuated discs are comparable to v-brakes. But it took time to get there. Of course, then there's the Trek 9000 and its auto-eject rear suspension, haha!
Many times v1/1.0 is the most refined, not in this case, it's just an added feature that opens up some possibility. When it trickles out after has fully developed and tested, in tiers and stages ,I'm out for better or worse. I'm thinking of getting the yikong for my first decent crawler but am still on the fence. When these servos give up, do they take a regular servo? I can't see the markings
They take a small servo, like the HDpower TR4, for example. This remains a fun and interesting machine. It's cheap for what you get, but the crawling is unrefined. As a trail truck though, for those of us who enjoy the bells and whistles, it's great.
So glad I showed you this guy. It lives up to all I expected from it. What a great package! Would the frosted windows by any chance be an interior sticker, or is it painted from the outside? Great review, Craig. Thanks!! All the best for the pup!
Thanks yoshi, it was an instant purchase after you told me about it! I think it's paint, but I must get around to checking this. Dog still healing but as of yesterday she's over the hardest part, I think.
The frosted windows can be made clear if you varnish them. Just figure out which side has the frosting by scratching it with your nail. You may need to paint the details inside the cabin which is most likely the resason why they frosted the windows.
Thanks. It's on the inside. I'm not sure varnish is what you mean. Varnish remover perhaps? Happy to be wrong but varnish sounds like a bad idea...? This is an old thread but it's a useful resource: www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/54797-removing-stripping-paint-from-lexan-polycarbonate/
Very cool RC. For $405 Canadian, that's a whole lot of truck. I initially brushed Yikong aside as I thought they made clones or rebranded stuff but I'm glad to be wrong. It's got all the features of the big boys at a fraction of the cost and disc brakes! I agree that the possibility of traction control for fast vehicles is exciting. Can you imagine doing a speed run with traction control? It would make a lousy driver like myself be able to get crazy speeds. Thanks for introducing me to Yikong! I hope your Pops? Is healing up nicely! Take Care!
Agreed, it's very cool. This is a good little truck. Doggo ("pups") is getting there. It was a dental thing and there's a way to go get but she's doing well. Thanks Chris
I saw that too, that's reasonable for all the features. Usually they charge a HUGE premium for shipping to Canada, like $200 US shipping or something...
I've heard they only had the weird frosted windows on the first run. Glad it was changed! I still really like this car and am a big fan of companies trying new things 😊
Hm, very different models. RGT is basic but very high quality for the money. I'll do a video soon on getting it to go better, while the Yikong here is a pretty complete package out of the box. The RGT will be easier to upgrade. The Yikong has more fun stuff to play with. Both are fairly mediocre crawlers out of the box. I think we can make the RGT a lot better. The Yikong is the superior trail model and no amount of tinkering on the RGT will make it come out ahead on that element. So, it comes down to what you want from the thing. Yikong for a complete trail model out of the box, RGT for a more typical buy, upgrade, test, modify, upgrade some more, etc.
Thanks! It's not for everyone, to be sure. But it's fun and it's a new way of implementing an old technology in RC. I thought it worth sharing for that alone ☺️
I maybe ignorant to these small car enthusiast passion, but that was some technical functions to learn would of made a good roll over safety video In this case innovation would be a self-righting mechanism on the 20th channel lol loved the guys energy to demonstrate his expertise. Bravo Sir
I own 2 Yikong/Absima RCs, their 1/10 Jeep which I've had for around 3 years, I've driven it often & hard & it's still about 90% original. I also have their awesome 1/8 Bronco which I've owned for a year & is 99% original.! They make some extremely good trail trucks.! Great value, really durable, they perform brilliantly & look fantastic.!! Parts availability is no problem either, in the UK at least. I can't recommend Yikong highly enough.. I've got my eye on their 1/7 TB7 solid rear axle desert racer & their DF7 desert truck.!!
Absima, a German brand, rebrands the Yikong RC cars in Europe (some models, at least). They've been using dampers in the steering for a long time. I have an Absima Sherpa 3.4 and I love it!
Great features on this Yikong!! Wish they were more available in the US. Not to detract from this crawler, the Yikong TB7 is awesome. And I hear only great things about the DF7 as a larger SCT
I bought a TB7 because I was seeing some pretty sweet looking rc vehicles from them and I wanted to try one out. I really like the TB7 tons of fun to drive so far. I am thinking about getting a DF7 V2 now. They have a 1/6 Jeep crawler that is calling my name as well.
did you know there are actual hydraulic disc brakes for the front and rear of the Baja 5B and other 1/5 scale cars? They have been out for a while now.. Very cool!
I didn't know that! I only have had a few 1/5 cars and none of them had hydraulic disc brakes. For that alone, I'm going to have to look into the Baja 5B, wow! (My SBR2.0, X-Maxx and older 5ive-T electric conversion didn't have this, but my experience with large scale ends with these).
Nice 10.000 views in 8 hours. You got someone's attention this time. Good job buddy keep it up. Awesome rig, too. I got the FMS10 blazer. And it has dig and the locking differentials. And two wheel drive feature, but only front. But it is going to give all the other brands a run for the money. It is very good.
This video must be addressing some need on UA-cam. I hope people find it delivers! (and though I intentionally tried to share my confusion from the start with this thing, I hope this choice doesn't put people off from the rest of the video. It's a car worthy of attention.) So, I like the FCX10, it's rather neat. Am looking forward to doing its video too :) Of course, it's 30% more expensive than this car, but they're both excellent rigs. I prefer the fms for its licensed body and their own tire design. I really don't like clones, it's lazy and bad for the industry. But the new tech was cool enough I overlooked the body in this case.
I've been considering about getting my first crawler recently, and i'm struggle to choose between rgt 86190 and yk4106. Can you give me some suggestion or other good choice. Thx! 😃
Get the RGT if it's between these. Better quality electronics and overall more capable. Also consider the FMS FCX10 K5 Blazer. But any of these will be fun and rewarding to own.
Thanks! Yeah she was, until two days ago. I'm just back home now after being out 12 hours again, same hospital, same surgeon, and same little while to spend in the same area with a crawler and a camera! Doggo will be fine but she's had a bumpy first few months of life, poor thing.
@RCTNT pets, man.. an old friend called them "born tragedies." (Im on the fence about calling them that, but i get it)I love all my animals, and it takes it out of you to see them hurting, for sure. I don't comment often, but I watch almost all your stuff. I appreciate the hard work.
You are so right. Well, your friend. I get it. The pain is worth it for the love though. But I guess that's what a classical tragedy is. The deeper the love, the deeper the pain. Still, worth it. And thank you. I'm just going to bed now after a silly, taxing day and there's much to be so grateful for. Your comment here is very appreciated. Thanks 😊
Faulty servo. You do have end point adjustment on this radio. There's a config mode (full right, full reverse, power on) and then you actuate whatever channel you want to adjust and then the steering wheel to set. It was a faulty servo in this case. It happens sometimes in both cheap and expensive models.
15:54 true. BUT it looked pretty scale to me. I get there is a lot of bounce but driving a 1:1 like that over that terrain. I think its pretty much bang on. I agree It DOES need oil in the shocks. WAY too much Body roll on some of those climbs. You're right though. Technology is continuing to make this hobby interesting.. As long as it is still affordable. ;) imho And we can not forget that price. Pretty damn good
Thank you. You're right, the body roll certainly looks realistic - but I think in this scale of RC, there's a better balance of realism and capability that some shock oil will help achieve. You're not wrong though.
Axial had a prototype version of cutting brakes. One of the engineers at axial still has the prototype parts sitting on a shelf in his office. Sadly, they never released it after the prototype.
Maybe not scale but individual motors for each wheel connected to a drone flight controller and some clever software could drastically improve drivability and reduce mechanical complexity. Like the Mammuth Works RC but with Chinese manufacturing knowhow and refinement. Only one servo for steering (maybe one more or rear steer), 4 motors (no or minimal transmission), a 4 in 1 ESC/controller/receiver would only be needed to perform all the mechanical functions of differentials, individual wheel brakes, reverse, over/underdrive to each wheel (even ZERO radius skid steering!)
You're not wrong, but there's a nuance here. I'll cover it in my FCX10 video, coming soon, but I see utility and scale as two ends of a spectrum, and there are hobbyists/enthusiasts on both ends of it. We do have the comp class Pro/MOA 2.2, where MOA stands for Motor On Axle, and they're very capable rigs. But then, a separate transmission, transfer case, mechanically actuated 2-speed, lockers, etc. are all a source of delight to those of us who appreciate scale recreations of the real thing. And of course everyone has their preferences and some like scale but still keeping it simple - Matt of @scalebuildersguild is an example of such a person. That's fine with me - I'm just grateful that there's so much choice to be found in the hobby these days. It's amazing!
I have all of those trucks you mentioned plus I have a Traction hobby G wagon Brabus that has 2wd front or rear 4wd two speed with diff locks front and rear and i have to say it is far better then both my Trx4 Defenders and my scx gladiator but I do like the dig on the gladiator so I would love the Traction hobby to have the dig function, I can have fwd only but it would be nice to be able to lock the rear axle, I wondered if you had tried the Traction hobby and if so what your thoughts were on the truck , I enjoy your videos there very informative so thank you for you efforts , stay safe mate 🇬🇧
I haven't had a traction hobby vehicle but I nearly have! They look great on features and build. I will add the FMS FCX10 has all this stuff too. 2 speed, dig, remote ockers, option for RWD/4WD/FWD, light kit, etc. Might be of interest to you. Cheers
Yay you finally got a yikong! Been banging on about these rigs since i got the tb7 im interested about the shocks as mine had them set up perfect from the factory haven't even leaked i thought this one was more like 1000 aud maybe think about trying the tb7 i got? Id be happy to let you drive it if i could drive yours! Can't afford new rc,s for a while but this one would be way up there! Pity about the windows, thanks for showing the brand personally very impressed with the quality myself cheers mate.
Thanks and yeah, it's pretty good. People get a bee in their bonnets about brands and perceived quality but there are only a few factories and this will have come from one of them that no doubt handles some big name stuff too. As a showcase of new and interesting things jumbled together, they've nailed the brief for the price! Cheers
fiddler brakes, don't suppose i can get the rear axle, break and servo set up? or at least a parts list? im currently planning a prototype sporting trials car, fiddler brakes are exactly what i need but i cannot figure out how to do it in s believable way, somethin like what this uses is almost exactly what i am trying to figure out... minus the diff lock
before anyone says, fiddler brakes (more often known as fiddle brakes these days) is the original name for it, cutting brakes are just a modernized form of it, fiddler brakes as the name implies are significantly more primitive
Hmm, possibly you could manage it. The problem is parts strength, you really need injection molded plastics and our diy stuff is extruded filament. Your car will have independent suspension, so you can't even adapt the axles here. Definitely an engineering challenge!
Great to see you back. I was down myself from March 3 til yesterday it began to lift. I have a question about the steering link shock? I've never seen this . Can I put this on my challenger by rgt. What will I gain? Happy to see you well enough to be out . The ground and trees seem to be what we need. Wishing you the best mate ! 🎉
Thank you, it's good to be back. Glad you're feeling better. I'm nowhere near well, but grateful to be able to get out and about. Could be worse and yes, trees and fresh air are a boon. The steering damper is a servo saver. You could look at it as an upgrade for stock servos but once you have a stronger servo, it's not really needed. There's another variant that looks like this but isn't a damper. Instead, it's an adjustable length steering rod. Mainly cosmetic, but looks the same as a damper. That's the one to get if you want one, I think. But it's cool on this car - adds to the complexity of it, which is kind of its thing 😎
@RCTNT absolutely true. I built my crawler from scratch so can appreciated this one you're showing. Also last week saw the new WLtoys 104026 crawler and I'm just loving that body it comes with🥳🥳🥳
Honestly, it's about time. There are so many mechanical/electronic features that could be implemented on RC... Instead of incorporating fe variable torque splitters or Torsen diffs, RC cars are getting dumbed down to a point they're just not interesting anymore. A Traxxas X-maxx has the features of a 30$ toy car compared to a 3906 E-maxx.
Great video. It’s really cool seeing disc brakes on an rc crawler. If you don’t mind me asking what platform was that red LC70 on at the beginning of the video?
That's the BRX01. Check out my video for it, I've covered the whole thing in detail. You can find lots about the model on my website, too. Actually, start there, it is very thorough: rc-tnt.com/manufacturer/boom-racing/boom-racing-brx01-review/
Thanks, I've slowed things down quite a bit since the end of January, having only filmed on one morning and one evening in the 6 or 7 weeks since then. We'll get there, but I'm pacing myself while I get the brain stuff sorted. Thanks 🙏
That is the same remote that comes with the fMS10 blazer. Is that a 2 in 1 esc receiver combo, or does it have a separate one? If so, I need to know what the receiver is?
The radio system is the FS-MG11-BS. It's a 3-in-1 receiver, actually: rx, esc and light controller. I cover it in more detail in my article about this car.
I’ve been looking at crawlers for years. I’m close to getting one. I’d absolutely love this as it has everything. Just the fact is a Chinese car are getting aftermarket/hopup/brass parts is the one thing that keeps putting me towards a trx. I hate traxxas but it seems they have the best crawler on the market.
Certainly, the TRX4 is a compelling option, especially if you're in the USA where the pricing is reasonable. But I'd also suggest you look into Cross RC, specifically the Emo AT4. And Boom Racing BRX01, if you're into scale. I've got these and more covered on my channel here. Element RC makes a bunch of great stuff too. Now I think about it, there's so much good stuff to choose from! I've got an article on my website you might find interesting also: rc-tnt.com/manufacturer/multiple/what-is-the-best-rc-rock-crawler/
@@RCTNT nice one thank you. I’ll have a look at what you’ve suggested. Your channel popped up in my feed. Glad it did. I’ll have to binge watch some videos, damn you!!!! 🤣
I got Axial SCX III Jeep Rubicon and it's been holding up great. It has rear locking differential which you can reverse the servo and have it shift the two speed transmission. Comes with lights and a driver.👍
Like diskbrakes idea on smaller scale, but for another purpose. More thinking on a serious fast 2wd. I have some, but you really need to take in account the space needed for braking. I already had the crazy idea off taking a 4x4 (loose front mid joint) and then use front diff as disk housing and fiddle somehow a brake mechanisme in there but never tried it. But curious to see how good it works in real live. I've had a 5th scale off-road with hydrolic front disk brakes (there also were machanical) and they very often didn't work properly. Often braked uneven or they didn't let loose the disk completely. But that was something like 15 or 20 years ago. Would expect some improvements in the meanwhile...
Yes! An undriven front diff with a disc on the drive shaft, somewhere in the chassis, that'd be how you'd achieve that idea I think. But now, these disc brakes are simple and light enough that they're the better option. And if you only want it for breaking rather than traction control, a single servo could manage it for the front or even all 4 wheels. It's an exciting development.
@@RCTNT yes, i hope this will be implemented in the future in more cars like 2wd's (so i don't need experiment things myself). We bought and tested on-, and off-road our 10th buggies 2wd vs 4wd. The only thing what kept me from winning in our own created "race"conditions/tracks was the braking but was still real close. Eventually we ended up racing 2wd's. We thought they were more spectaculair to drive. But man, if it would brake like a 4wd.... Also have other rc's, also in different sizes and 4wd, but under the right conditions i prefer racing 2wd...
I get you. As I answered another commenter with similar sentiments, there's a market for both preferences, thankfully! You've got the choice of the venerable TRX4 Sport, the entire Element Enduro range, Redcat Gen8 V2, Axial SCX10 II Deadbolt and III Base Camp, the new Vanquish VRD Stance, RC4WD TF2 and Gelande II, the RGT Pioneer, the Carisma SCA-1E, MST crawlers, and more 😎
I found a place that sells them & I was looking at the big Bronco they have I think it’s 1/6 scale it has every feature & the body looks correct they also have 1:10 scale crawlers like the one up you have & & also they have RGT Crawlers both these brands are hard to find to purchase anything from in the US. They seem well built & there’s no reason they shouldn’t perform well. I just got the FMS 1:10 scale Blazer & it’s amazing hopefully you get it to review love to hear your review of it. That remote & all those features look a lot like the new FMS 1:10 Brazer & the remote looks the same.
I have the FCX10 here and yes, it's got the same OEM flysky system. You can't buy it separately, currently. I like it. The 1/8 scale Yikong 4083, I think it is, looks great, doesn't it!
Ford has a trim package for their full size trucks called the "Tremor". It has this feature. Sharp turns either way will lock the inside rear wheel for tighter turning. Like a tractor. Lol
I expect it'll give you plenty of good use, but I'm guessing here as I haven't broken it yet. It probably won't be as durable as the TRX4, Redcat Gen8 v2, Element Enduro family or RGT Rescuer. These are all similarly durable, in my experience. It's possible this thing will be as well, but I really don't know yet because I haven't driven it as much as the others.
The only difference in that controller and the one on the FMS is that Mine has a foam steering wheel. But they are both fly sky. I'm trying to find the new receiver. They do make one that you can use without the 2 in 1 combo. But keep the controller.
The wheel feels nicer on the Yikong implementation, believe it or not. I like the foam on the FMS variant, but it's lighter weight and the spring is a bit softer. I don't know if that's all it is, wheel weight and spring tension, but gosh the wheel on the Yikong variant feels premium! I love it.
traxxas really needs to get in gear and come out with a digital all in one remote. the tqi controller they've had for i think a decade now is starting to show it's age. even on trucks that don't have multiple channels in use it would be nice to be able to set servo endpoints and travel and all of that good stuff out of the box with a warranty.
@@RCTNTi've found the tqi link to be relatively useless in my opinion. the app is a bit hard to navigate and to unlock the full potential of it you need to spend a bunch of extra money on telemetry expanders and sensors not to mention all of those little fragile wires needing to be routed. having to refer to the owners manual every single time you need to make an adjustment is bonkers. just put an lcd on the controller so i can click through menus.
@spyker_aileron I made my feelings clear on this in my 2021 Bronco Upgrade video. I spent way too much money for the telemetry stuff only to be disappointed that there's no odometer for even the driving session (why?!) and it doesn't register under about 3.5km/h (thus useless for a crawler). It sucks.
Ah you got a green one ... was tempted but didn't want to deal with removing the mate clear-coat on the windows ... got a white one last week instead and did an unboxing on a pair of forums this side of the earth. Surprising little truck ... its weight biais is backward but it doesn't handle that bad. Unfortunately I messed up with "tank-turn" so couldn't try it on the trail ... and my light module also died but it wasn't in good health anyway as backup light didn't work from the box. Shocks' oil wouldn't mind being lighter, as the foams ... unfortunately, wheels are not beadlock. Just read your site ... about the manual, there 's a QRCode on the box to download it.
Oh thanks, that's great info! Sorry your light kit is faulty, that's frustrating. Funny how your shock oil was too stiff and mine was, well, missing! I'll look into the manual, thank you!
All respect regarding all your explanations! 👍 To me, however, in some situations it looks more like everything isn't working as it should. 😁 I really like the look of the car, but the technology behind the box didn't really convince me. 🤷♂ What I also don't understand: Why do you give the car an interior and then use "frosted glass" for the windows? 🤔
It's just because they sprayed mate clear-coat on the oustide without masking the windows. It should be removable with lexan paint remover. Over colors don't come with frosted windows
That's a very specific question. I guess you might choose this if you like the body better, or if the tank turn appeals. Price would be another factor; I paid AUD$755 delivered for the FCX10 and AUD$583 delivered for this one. That this model is 30% cheaper is definitely worth considering. Overall the construction and finish is similar in both, though the body on the FMS is thicker, not to mention the branding is actually licensed! Cheers
Mixing is built in, and you can toggle the system on and off. Rear braking is proportional to the steering when it's active 👍 Sorry, I could have made it clearer!
I like it! You get a lot for the money, body looks good, and it's capable. Although, when you mentioned what else the rear brake could be used for, I was thinking 'E-brake for those tight hairpins on a rally course' 😁
The handbrake (or e-brake) exists already in some cars, like the Infraction, and it's rad, yeah! This independent slowing of each wheel is quite interesting too.
It reminds me Summit - very cool and capable but....too many moving parts with all that it implies😅 But the ideas are great and these experiments will lead to smth I hope good eventually😉
I wonder if the frosting on windows would come off with a little rub using a cloth soaked in fuel? Shame to cover up the interior 😕 lol. I own a couple of different absima (eu yikong) and have been very impressed with them so far on many levels and with general varied use. The only bad thing i have to mention was a build error using the wrong type of shock tops which restricted the whole suspension range, slightly unforgivable i feel with such a wrong choice of part and obvious issue, iirc the yikong had better shocks (with ball tops) included in their kit, but looks like the eu market swapped them out for cheap bum ones, disappointing... but still not a big deal to put right.😅 😂❤
One bad decision in design or assembly can make a huge difference, unfortunately. My Rlaarlo AK-917 review was an example of this, with the receiver antenna bundled with the rest of the cables causing intermittent cuts in reception. Made the whole car look bad, though it was easily fixed. Sounds similar to your experience. This really is a decent car, yes. The windows should be possible to clear, I agree. Body and tire tread IP theft aside, it's a truly impressive car for the money!
@@RCTNT finland,in here we got so limited options.. :/ aliexpress takes always 3-6weeks :/ also wery limited options on what rc brands can be bought, if i would want ascent 18,it would be 299+160e taxes and duties+50shipping,living in finland sucks for rc:ing,i wanted somethinh cheap and had to go on trx4 sport hightrail (560e) but so far i have liked it,i would rather had redcat... but not an option :(
@topqualityfi8216 ah yes, we've discussed this before, haven't we. Well, if it helps to know, I have all the Traxxas crawlers and all the Redcat crawlers, and I'd probably take a TRX4 over a Gen8 or Gen9, as the bodies are a bit nicer, the tires are a lot better, and the rest of it is pretty similar. I think you've made a good choice, basically!
That poor middle drive shaft was screaming for dear life 😂🤣 Are you going to get the new Redcat Vigilante??? I'd love to see you put it through an ultimate torture test 😁 Awesome double backflip 🔥
@@RCTNTSorry this comment went to the wrong channel some how lol Cool crawler, That sucks it takes so long to get Redcat models in Australia, the new Vigilante is awesome from what I’ve seen on Exocaged channel, cheers ✌🏻
@muskokamike127 haha yes, but they don't cover this as it's clearly genetic. Breeders threw us under the bus, too, despite what I thought was good standing in the dog community. Didn't want to accept reality. I'm not going to pursue them, though I think we have a good case. Prefer peace. But yeah we're pretty deep in the hole so far, not counting what she cost to buy. Weeee
Heh thanks. Diesel all the way here. Its an HDJ100 with a little fettling to get that turbo breathing better! I did have an 1HZ80 as well, but I gave it away after I got the 100 here. Love my Landcruisers ☺️
To the best of my knowledge it is. However, flysky doesn't claim anything beyond operating conditions of up to 95% humidity for the Flysky FS-MG11-BS. So officially, the advice is "no". But I suspect it is. No guarantees! (The servos definitely are, at least).
If I could get a 2021 TRX4 Bronco for AUD$583 delivered, I'd have two of them. I spent about AUD$1100 to buy mine, before I got any mods for it. We pay a lot more for Traxxas in Australia. In USA, Traxxas is far more reasonably priced, and in contrast, I imagine brands like Yikong, RGT, Cross RC, MST, etc. are similar or more than what we pay in Australia. I'm not making a case for either here. Just reporting the costs. If you can get a better deal on something, go for it. Cheers!
Thanks. I left very early that morning and had my dog getting surgery 2 hours from home (and this was filmed 30 mins from there), so I forgot the box. Appreciate that QR code, I'll find the link and update the description later today. Thanks for that!
Thank you kindly 🙏 (Dad's fine, thank you for the thought. He'll probably see this comment, too - hi dad! Dog is okay now, too - that was "pups", not "pops")
@@RCTNTThis is something else than a big company releasing a "new" crawler with the same platform and just another body ;) Oh well, I got the Carisma kit to build so I need to brace myself :D
Haha yes, though all brands have their periods of new development. The new body releases just help extend that return on investment, which is understandable. Enjoy your new build!
There's actually a third version too, though it doesn't appear to be listed anywhere except on the box. The SE has 2-speed as the only extra, radio operated channel, and the diffs are manually locked/unlocked via a thumb lever on the car itself, which is an interesting cost-saving compromise!
1st Time watching your channel... nice video. Had to laugh my new FMS FCX10 K5 has every one of those features minus the cool brakes. It even has the same remote.
It's similar but actually a little different, believe it or not! The light system is more complete on this one over the FMS, too. And I understand the current version of this thing actually has clear windows so you can see the interior - bit of a face-palm, this first iteration! FMS vid here: ua-cam.com/video/gjZ0uOcNMHU/v-deo.html Anyway, glad you found my stuff. I have an upgrade video coming for the FMS and it'll be featuring a custom built suspension system made just for this vehicle. Should be interesting! Thanks for stopping by 😊
…i dont think 1/8th scale cars have a lack of power.. i’d like to mess with an electric, but, with the older style nitro brake, and adjust the front rear bias… i would think its not as easy as just adding the motor cause throttle would be ESC then brake to the servo…? Not sure how that could be “tested” to see if it works…
Mixing could get you there, as far as control goes; whenever breaking with throttle, don't send a signal lower than zero to the esc but instead proportionally send that negative signal on another channel, to which the breaking servo/servos is/are connected. Take it a step further with traction control via independent wheel braking: each wheel's speed could be monitored with a hall sensor on each axle or wheel, depending on the car. I bet I could write the monitoring and braking system for Arduino, it could be entirely separate to throttle inputs. It's so close I can taste it! Just gotta put the time aside to build it - though I'm expecting someone is already working on it!
Impossibel too upgrade too a Fusion because the reciever /ESC is a 2in 1 ! If you want too upgrade too a Fusion you need a new 10 channel Radio too. Yikong sell also a clear window version and also a way cheaper version without interieour shift servos and without the cutting brakes. I like the truck but its way too top heavy maybe with a light Pickup Body its perform way better. I think the Yikong 4101 perform better as a crawler.Maybe you can test also the Austar AX-X6 with Defender double cab "hardbody" ! the only TRX6 "clone" on the market but 1/3 of the prize !
I don't think this model needs a Fusion upgrade. The 550 32T motor is pretty perfectly paired to a well-balanced 2-speed transmission. In this case, it's not worth the expense. (And for what it's worth, I have 10 or 15 Fusion systems in various cars. I like them a lot). They've got it right such that the FOC won't be hugely missed - it doesn't crawl well enough to need it anyway, I think. I could look into the AX6, possibly. I'll go check it out now and we'll see. Cheers
AX-X6 is not, by far, the only TRX6 "clone" (if by clone means every architecture that Traxxas as produced first, even if it does only looks like a Traxxas copy blindfolded) ... Yikong has its own with the YK6101 (same axles as their YK4101/2/3/4/5, different from YK4106), CrossRC has its AT6 and now NT6 ... and there's still, at least here in EU, the Freemen 2.0 6x6, clone of the UMG10 6x6, that you can get in the sub 300€ once in a while.
@@TuxStang Austar copy the axels very close even the complete drivetrain with two speed and shiftabel lockers. Freemen have the hypoid ring and pinion more like Axial UMG no shiftabel lockers non two speed far away from Traxxas TRX6 equippment. Yikong is double the prize of the Ax-x6 and not a clone its a 6x6 with portals made with strong Yikong axels designed far away from TRX6.
@@RCTNT it only works in low range 4x4 setting. I haven't used it yet but there is a tank turn button and you need I think to turn the steering full lock for it to activate. As I say, I don't really need that, but it is a switch on my centre console.
The WRCCA rules will probably write this out in future too, if it becomes common. For now, I think it'd be okay. Not that this car would crawl well enough to make it worth using. (Unless I took the axle and servo out and put it into my usual comp Scale-1 rig... hehe)
The FMS is 30% more expensive than this. It has the licensed body and tires. No disc brakes but does have DIG. Body is better quality on the FMS, though it has no interior. Radios are the same. Chassis is steel while the Yikong is plastic, though I'm not sure which I like better on that point. Diff lock is done better on the Yikong; the fms works but that actuating arm on each diff is very exposed. Dunno how it'll like being muddy. Build wise, they're similar. I'd expect the fms servos to be better quality given the higher vehicle price. Overall, I support the fms over this given the IP theft apparent with the body on the Yikong here, and the hyrax tire treads. Other than that, buy the one you like better!
Sorry about that, I know it was a bumpy start. My usual videos are not like this, but that's because in my usual videos, I'm not lost too! I was trying to share my experience with this car and believe me, I was lost for the first 10 or 15 minutes too. There's a going on with the radio. I've got it worked out now but we had to work for it! If you want a more traditional review type look at this car, check out my article. That's structured in a way to be helpful to folks looking to learn about this model as a potential buyer. Cheers
Haha yes! It was convenient to make such a point, wasn't it! With more money thrown at it for known-reliable units, like the HD Power TR4 servos, you'd be fine. But complexity is star this thing is all about, yes. Definitely not for everyone!
@@RCTNT I love the idea of all the automated gadgets and gizmos, much like real vehicles. The issue is that failures reduce/stop the fun and ultimately you end up with a better overall time with something simple and durable. I still reckon the ultimate performance vs reliability is the MOA all wheel steering crawlers. Super simple, great weight distribution, super battery efficient and ridiculously capable!
If those are your metrics then yes, Super class will tick the boxes. Price will be a lot to swallow and they're complex to drive, but that's part of the fun. I love comp crawling. But for fun, the scale element is important to many of us. Nice to have all this choice though eh!
@@RCTNTtrue enough! I'm still dipping my toe in the water with RC stuff - last time I had an RC car it was a novelty having gears on a nitro car so it's quite a change! So far I've learned the hard way that mini tamiya plugs are wired backwards on airsoft batteries (who's bright spark idea was that?!) figured out different scale sizes of motors and pinion gears on an old SCT I got given (also the hard way) bought a cheapie chinese crawler for my boy and the surprisingly capable FTX ravine. I have to say, I've been binge watching your vids and they're awesome - it's nice to see some quantifiable comparisons rather than just 'buy expensive stuff, it's better' so thank you for your efforts!!
I'm so glad to hear (most) of that, thank you! Be aware that many jst plugs, both the white and red ones, tend to be reversed by various battery and esc makers, too. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency in these! Glad you're enjoying my videos. I really do try to convey the experience of the hobby, rather than to be a product sales person! Cheers
Called "cutting" brakes...
Tractors use this idea
1:1 comp crawlers, too.
Ah good info! Thank you!
Check out the CowperTrucks 'suzuki extreme 4x4 challenge' vids here on youtube. Extreme cutting brakes! In these cars the copilot runs brakes for each wheel and they are working hard for sure.
Oh I'll do that, thanks!!
Yes I had it on an old utility trike called a Helm Farmhand. I copied it for a VW trike that had problems steering under acceleration. Just right and left hand brakes instead of dront and rear.
Wow! That sounds really interesting, eh. Love it.
Yes, thank you, and agreed 👍
You get to kinda role play with the car, like you're in it, using the various features on the trail as you drive. There's a child-like element of play to it. It's very appealing.
Those disc brakes are killer. Like dig without the dig! Great overview Craig!
Thanks Brian, I'm excited about it too, yeah! Especially that it's comp legal, hehe. A bit cheeky, like the Vanquish " 4.75" " tires, lol
11.36 - when you realize it`s all you need to reach happiness ;))
@@RCTNT Nope. It as to be perfect right out of he box. No version 2.0 or even 1.2. 🤣🤣
Lets wait and see what Else is coming in the near Future!
Thanx once again for a very informal Video.
Love your vids (and your weather 😅)!!!
🙏
That’s freaking awesome setup for a RC truck 😊
It's super cool, hey!
Good to see suspension that actually moves realistically, the body roll makes it feel like it has weight
This is true. It's a fun car
Another great review!
Many blessings to your house!
Thank you kindly
wow this is the right way in the trail/crawler scene-load this toys with tons of features ;))
Haha yeah it's definitely one approach! Throw it all at the wall and see what sticks!
A friend recently bought this rig. It came with clear windows. It looks awesome!
I've heard they only had the weird frosted windows on the first run. Glad it was changed! I still really like this car and am a big fan of companies trying new things 😊
@@RCTNT Would you recommend this or the RGT Intruder?
@@RCTNT Thanks for the insight! Seems like the Yikong is a good buy out of the box.
Thank you for another wonderful video Craig.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks ☺️
Nice vid. Very cool features. Bit complicated for me. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! It's not for everyone, to be sure. But it's fun and it's a new way of implementing an old technology in RC. I thought it worth sharing for that alone ☺️
@@RCTNTFor sure. Appreciate your work.
I maybe ignorant to these small car enthusiast passion, but that was some technical functions to learn would of made a good roll over safety video In this case innovation would be a self-righting mechanism on the 20th channel lol loved the guys energy to demonstrate his expertise. Bravo Sir
On the 20th channel, lol. Yes, it's getting pretty crazy isn't it
Interesting rig and definitely different than most. Curious to see how well everything holds up!
I think it'll be pretty solid over time, apart from possible servo weakness (maybe I just got a bad one, it happens).
Thanks Alan, I hear good things also. I know you're enjoying that 4083 1/8 one, or whatever the model is. It's on my list!
I saw cut brakes on a rc crawler in 2007! Wild to see it on a production rig! Cool vid!
Oh really? Thanks John, do you recall the model/prototype? That's cool.
Absima, a German brand, rebrands the Yikong RC cars in Europe (some models, at least). They've been using dampers in the steering for a long time.
I have an Absima Sherpa 3.4 and I love it!
Very nice. I've heard the name but not seen their cars here yet. Good to know.
Absima is such an underdog brand, so under- estimated, i have had 3 or 4 Absima trucks and it was all nice and good ;)
And that's the same company, isn't it? Very cool
maybe soon available in the eu as the absima
@@just.jose.youtube any idea is this one coming to europe? As absima.??
Cool Idea, lets see if it takes hold. Innovation is always a good thing!
Yes! Even just trying it was the successful part. Good on them.
The USA had Rebel RC selling one of their models as Rebelcon if I remember correctly, but I think they disappeared, right?
did you know there are actual hydraulic disc brakes for the front and rear of the Baja 5B and other 1/5 scale cars? They have been out for a while now.. Very cool!
I didn't know that! I only have had a few 1/5 cars and none of them had hydraulic disc brakes. For that alone, I'm going to have to look into the Baja 5B, wow! (My SBR2.0, X-Maxx and older 5ive-T electric conversion didn't have this, but my experience with large scale ends with these).
This truck has been making a huge wave
Nice 10.000 views in 8 hours. You got someone's attention this time. Good job buddy keep it up. Awesome rig, too.
I got the FMS10 blazer. And it has dig and the locking differentials. And two wheel drive feature, but only front. But it is going to give all the other brands a run for the money. It is very good.
This video must be addressing some need on UA-cam. I hope people find it delivers! (and though I intentionally tried to share my confusion from the start with this thing, I hope this choice doesn't put people off from the rest of the video. It's a car worthy of attention.)
So, I like the FCX10, it's rather neat.
Thanks for the video bud, glad your puppy is healing.
Thanks 😊
Faulty servo or faulty setup i.e. no servo end point adjustments? For a "digital" yes/no channel, being able to adjust end points is crucial.
Faulty servo. You do have end point adjustment on this radio. There's a config mode (full right, full reverse, power on) and then you actuate whatever channel you want to adjust and then the steering wheel to set.
It was a faulty servo in this case. It happens sometimes in both cheap and expensive models.
that looks awesome!!
definitely changing the game
Yeah! Agreed, and after a comp yesterday I've gotta think it would have really helped in places!
Great video! Subscribed. Can't believe i haven't come across your channel before!
Woohoo! Thanks and welcome ☺️
Pretty damn good
Fantastic overview btw. Definitely enjoyed the review and Enjoyment level. lol
Oh really? Interesting! Man, I'd sure love to see that! Do you recall roughly when that was, or what it was? I'll have a hunt around too. Thanks :)
I have all of those trucks you mentioned plus I have a Traction hobby G wagon Brabus that has 2wd front or rear 4wd two speed with diff locks front and rear and i have to say it is far better then both my Trx4 Defenders and my scx gladiator but I do like the dig on the gladiator so I would love the Traction hobby to have the dig function, I can have fwd only but it would be nice to be able to lock the rear axle, I wondered if you had tried the Traction hobby and if so what your thoughts were on the truck ,
I enjoy your videos there very informative so thank you for you efforts , stay safe mate 🇬🇧
I haven't had a traction hobby vehicle but I nearly have! They look great on features and build.
I will add the FMS FCX10 has all this stuff too. 2 speed, dig, remote ockers, option for RWD/4WD/FWD, light kit, etc. Might be of interest to you. Cheers
Thank you for the neat video!
🙏
Great video, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the comment
Would love to own one of these
They're very fun for the gadget-minded hobbyists among us!
Cheers
The technology is great' it always seems to change the game !!
Its a fun time to be in the hobby, to be sure!
fiddler brakes, don't suppose i can get the rear axle, break and servo set up? or at least a parts list? im currently planning a prototype sporting trials car, fiddler brakes are exactly what i need but i cannot figure out how to do it in s believable way, somethin like what this uses is almost exactly what i am trying to figure out... minus the diff lock
before anyone says, fiddler brakes (more often known as fiddle brakes these days) is the original name for it, cutting brakes are just a modernized form of it, fiddler brakes as the name implies are significantly more primitive
Hmm, possibly you could manage it. The problem is parts strength, you really need injection molded plastics and our diy stuff is extruded filament.
Your car will have independent suspension, so you can't even adapt the axles here. Definitely an engineering challenge!
FYI, there's a V2 version with divorced ESC (1060) and receiver, a different radio, and no longer frosted windows for the green.
Thanks, I've seen that. Great it's been improved already 👍
Nice!!! The FMS Brother!!!

That Mercedes G and the Cross MOG 6X6 the Big Emo X3 Tow Truck are in my Wish List
I just designed something yesterday for the Emo x3. Looking forward to this one! Cheers
Great news 🥰🤩😍 Looking forward Indeed for that Review!!!
@RCTNT thank you for the reply. Wishing you progress!🎉
That's pretty awesome 💯💯💯
It's great to see innovation and companies trying new things, for sure. Moves the hobby forward.
@RCTNT absolutely true. I built my crawler from scratch so can appreciated this one you're showing. Also last week saw the new WLtoys 104026 crawler and I'm just loving that body it comes with🥳🥳🥳
Oh yeah? I'll look into it, thanks
I'm all for the experimentation too, it's good to see!
That is a cool rig, with some very interesting technology 👍
As a sign of things to come, yeah, I'm excited!
I thought the dig breaks on my Vanquish were cool. That is a very cool idea.
Yeah, and done so well on such a budget rig, too. Unexpected!
Great to see ya back, hope all is well…. But take all the time you need…
I've got an article on my website you might find interesting also:
rc-tnt.com/manufacturer/multiple/what-is-the-best-rc-rock-crawler/
@@RCTNT nice one thank you. I’ll have a look at what you’ve suggested. Your channel popped up in my feed. Glad it did. I’ll have to binge watch some videos, damn you!!!! 🤣
@ozaricblox2016 lol nice. Enjoy the rabbit hole!
I got Axial SCX III Jeep Rubicon and it's been holding up great. It has rear locking differential which you can reverse the servo and have it shift the two speed transmission. Comes with lights and a driver.👍
You sure you don't mean dig? I'm not aware of a rear remote locker in any of axial's line-up, though I'd be delighted to be wrong!
I don’t like all the “things” I’d much prefer a simple light rig. More servos = more problems
Incredible value, hate to think what this would be in traxxas money
I'm glad for the innovation and happy for the choice! Cheers
Ford has a trim package for their full size trucks called the "Tremor". It has this feature. Sharp turns either way will lock the inside rear wheel for tighter turning. Like a tractor. Lol
The Ford Bessie, a modern classic 👌
I would love to know how durable is it,anywhere neat trx4? Or is it destroyed before 1 year of use
Yes! The set and menu button rigamarole drives me nuts. The Bluetooth & phone setup works well enough at least. It's more money tho.
It sucks.
For the opaque part of the window, can it be removed? until it's clean?
I hesitate to buy a type like this that is green, because the window is opaque
Possibly. There are a few ways to go about it, but I think it *should* be possible, yes.
@@RCTNT can you prove it?
I simply do not have time to get to it currently. Things are incredibly tight at the moment. In mid-May, I hope to get to it. We'll see!
Cool dig setup but still like my rear steer.
No DIG! that's what's special!
But 4ws is hard to argue with, yeah 😅
All respect regarding all your explanations! 👍
To me, however, in some situations it looks more like everything isn't working as it should. 😁
I really like the look of the car, but the technology behind the box didn't really convince me. 🤷♂
What I also don't understand: Why do you give the car an interior and then use "frosted glass" for the windows? 🤔
It's just because they sprayed mate clear-coat on the oustide without masking the windows. It should be removable with lexan paint remover. Over colors don't come with frosted windows
Would you choose it over the FCX10??
That's a very specific question. I guess you might choose this if you like the body better, or if the tank turn appeals.
Price would be another factor; I paid AUD$755 delivered for the FCX10 and AUD$583 delivered for this one. That this model is 30% cheaper is definitely worth considering.
Overall the construction and finish is similar in both, though the body on the FMS is thicker, not to mention the branding is actually licensed! Cheers
@@RCTNT THanks for the reply. I am still waiting for you fcx10 review!
I only just pulled the FCX10 out of its box two days ago. It's a great little car too. Looking forward to doing the video 👍
Yooo thats system needs a channel mixer. Rear brakes could be operational from the streering if u had a flysky g7p. Proportional to👍
Mixing is built in, and you can toggle the system on and off. Rear braking is proportional to the steering when it's active 👍
Sorry, I could have made it clearer!
@@RCTNTOh nice! I forgot about the Infraction.. man that would be fun.
I like that it doesn't have that Traxxas gear grinding sound.👍
Lol they all have that if you try hard enough!
@@RCTNT My Axial SCX III Jeep Rubicon is 3 years old and doesn't make any grinding sounds, yet.
It reminds me Summit - very cool and capable but....too many moving parts with all that it implies😅
But the ideas are great and these experiments will lead to smth I hope good eventually😉
Yes, that's well put. Its the start of the next generation of interesting rc tech. I like to see this new stuff too.
Real working discs????? That's so awesome
Yeah, I thought so too!
The disc brake works as tank turn,so the car can turn on tight area
wheels are cool...are those for sale separately anywhere?
No idea, sorry! They are cool though.
Traxxas makes 2.2 wheels for their TRX6 that might be similar. Maybe look into that.
@@RCTNT Thanks, but they are not the same
I wonder if the frosting on windows would come off with a little rub using a cloth soaked in fuel?
Are spares readily available?
I looked up 'yikong 4106 pro parts' on AliExpress and there's a heap of stuff there. So, it looks that way, yes.
And only need to wait +1month for spares if you can find😅
Depends where you are in the world, I guess. I get things faster from AliExpress than I do from Amain, here in Australia.
Heh yeah
I'd like to get redcat vehicles but they take ages to get to Australia. The Ascent isn't here yet. Nor is the tilt tray truck.

Thanks, she's still recovering. Dental stuff. Rough start for the pup but she'll be okay.

She'll be okay, thank you. Eventually! Another complication today. $$$
@@RCTNT sheesh, sorry to hear that. Do you have pet insurance?
@muskokamike127 haha yes, but they don't cover this as it's clearly genetic. Breeders threw us under the bus, too, despite what I thought was good standing in the dog community. Didn't want to accept reality. I'm not going to pursue them, though I think we have a good case. Prefer peace. But yeah we're pretty deep in the hole so far, not counting what she cost to buy. Weeee
Nice fj80 we use ours for our rc trips also
Heh thanks. Diesel all the way here. Its an HDJ100 with a little fettling to get that turbo breathing better! I did have an 1HZ80 as well, but I gave it away after I got the 100 here. Love my Landcruisers ☺️
Pretty hard to get your hands a diesel cruiser here in the states lucky we got the 80. 1992 3fe
@clinthelsel3091 solid work horse 👍
My 80 series was a 91 model. It was actually a tractor pretending to be a car. Basic, but just about unkillable 💪
Front brakes on a 2wd buggy/sc would be awesome
Oooh yeah! Needs it, without motor braking. Honestly, any fast 2wd car could use it. I miss it on the RWD SCTs, too.
A bit like the real life BYD Fang Cheng Bao with it's turning 😂
is the car waterproofed
To the best of my knowledge it is. However, flysky doesn't claim anything beyond operating conditions of up to 95% humidity for the Flysky FS-MG11-BS. So officially, the advice is "no". But I suspect it is. No guarantees! (The servos definitely are, at least).
@@RCTNT got it. thx for reply
That was more than My 2021 Trx4 Bronco to buy😳. To much money for that thin plastik😑
Cheers!
The instruction is on outside of the box its a QR code online manual
Thanks. I left very early that morning and had my dog getting surgery 2 hours from home (and this was filmed 30 mins from there), so I forgot the box. Appreciate that QR code, I'll find the link and update the description later today. Thanks for that!

Oh well, I got the Carisma kit to build so I need to brace myself :D
Haha yes, though all brands have their periods of new development. The new body releases just help extend that return on investment, which is understandable. Enjoy your new build!
@@RCTNT Cheers, thanks dude :)
There's an SE and a Pro model and they're about $100 apart, but it's not clear about the difference...
FMS vid here: ua-cam.com/video/gjZ0uOcNMHU/v-deo.html
Anyway, glad you found my stuff.
Good info, thanks!
@@RCTNT The Fusion is the only choice if you run often rocky rivers instead of buying 5 brushed motors a year.
Interesting..... :D
Very!
My Tank 300 full size vehicle has tank turn which does this exact same feature
Really?! Geez that's gotta be hard on the rear suspension and bushings. Cool!
@@RCTNT it only works in low range 4x4 setting. I haven't used it yet but there is a tank turn button and you need I think to turn the steering full lock for it to activate. As I say, I don't really need that, but it is a switch on my centre console.
Definitely try it out, I don't think I'd be able to help myself! Find some gravel and make it so! Really cool 😎
5:15 didn't mercedes put that on their F1 cars and were banned because it was an unfair advantage? They cornered like they were on rails.....
The WRCCA rules will probably write this out in future too, if it becomes common. For now, I think it'd be okay. Not that this car would crawl well enough to make it worth using. (Unless I took the axle and servo out and put it into my usual comp Scale-1 rig... hehe)
Compare with fms fcx10 k5 clezer
@@RCTNT ok Mr. Thanks your information ilove RC TNT😍
Im lost...
Sorry about that, I know it was a bumpy start. My usual videos are not like this, but that's because in my usual videos, I'm not lost too! Very cool, but I got to the part where you found the faulty servo before I realised this is not for me. Far too much fiddly stuff going on 😂
Cheers
