2:09 tomley does that too, compares different vehicles to gauge how "scale" it is. A desert racer will be a different wheelbase than a 4 door SUV and a 4 door SUV will have a different wheelbase than a small or even full sized pickup. So to be "accurate" you should compare the same type of vehicle to each other.
Interesting we were talking about variety being the spice of life in the previous video, and then this drops! What an amazing left field rig! And a ripper with that HW 8IGHT! As you say, probably not the typical thing to get, but more of a "rare occasion" rig that those days it comes out it becomes a total experience for its unconventional combination of large scale, scale design, mechanical features and mild bashing capabilities! With the scale design of the suspension, tons of attention to detail and care on the details, its such a cool thing to just look at, both on the shelf and on the drive! Look at that suspension cycling on the onboard camera! Hypnotizing! Love living the first drive and ownership experience vicariously through you! Cheers, Craig!!
The quality is there. And they have their own unique designs, which means with their modern vehicles, whatever one you like best is going to be a decent rig.
What an awesome looking bit of kit that is.!! 👍 👍 👍 It seems to perform as well as it looks too, I'm happy to see you've fitted the new Hobbywing 8ight system too, I've got a Fusion SE & I'm extremely impressed with it but it's strictly a 1/10th motor, it's not really up to powering my larger, heavier 1/8th scale rigs (at least not with my driving😉) because it just gets too hot.! The 8ight system is around £140 here in the UK & I'd say that's fair enough.... It's definitely made it onto my list.! 😉 😉 Thank you once again for another thoroughly informative & useful review video, I'm looking forward to seeing what else you do with it & how it holds up over time. Cheers Craig.!! 👍 👍 👍 Please stay safe out there mate & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️ 👍 👍 👍
I have the XT4 and the Demon SG4C and they are great trucks albeit a bit niche. The Demon has been trouble free but I had challenges with the XT4 diff locks for a while before sorting it out.
The Demon is from 'old' Cross RC. The XT4 is a early model in 'new' Cross RC, with their more plastic oriented design and, IMO, greater variety and durability. The Demon is more like the military trucks, I guess. In any case, there's a lot of high quality choice from this company.
That's a Cool one, I would love to see the Ecto 12 on your problems, ive only added 108 mm injora SuperSwampers, Deep dish steel wheels for a bit more width, and a Metalgear servo, because the stock servo is not good, its a little beast now for cheap 😊
This looks to fill a similar niche that the Axial RBX10 Ryfy is going for.... Would be interesting to see a comparision between the two. Personally I think the lockable diffs and the added attention to scale details on the Cross make it the better of the two.
@RCTNT don't have any, but like the concept of ifs/solid rear... Has its flaws, but just cool... Like the Baja trucks etc... And looks quite beefy this truck
Brother! I just saw Exocaged RC make a very nice skid for Meus axles… I’d love to see you do something like that for the trx4s! Bolts right up the the inside of the diff housing so I’m sure it would work on just about any RC with a little tweaking. It looks incredible though. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a pointed rock stuck between my rear links and behind my diff!
I've always dismissed diff skids as annoying, they work against you and stick. And I say this as an accomplished competitor in crawling. Buuuuut what you just wrote is compelling. That's the first time I've considered it may actually be helpful to do that. That's a really interesting idea!
I'm interested to see the FMS one. The Yikong DB7 looks similar to the FMS and I wonder about that. I'll have the Yikong delivered here shortly, so that'll be interesting to see more closely!
@@RCTNT I'm glad you said that lol, the yikong made me think of the fms model, well more accurately the fms u4 made me wonder where I saw a familiar face 🤔😏
Yeah, I was surprised at how well my Fusion SE modulates at super slow speed even when highly geared & in second gear.! I ran into trouble with the gear change on my RGT Rescuer, it became really sticky & wouldn't change even with an upgraded servo so I just thought "Bugger it, I'll just run it in second gear" but my brushed motor/ESC kept getting super hot & it was useless at slow speeds.. So I decided to get a Fusion SE to see what it could do with the rig in second.. I fully intended to fix the gearshift.... But the Fusion worked so well in second gear that I've still not repaired it a year later.! 😂 😂 😁😁
Heh fair enough. Though a drop of light machine oil on the shift shaft that goes into the transmission could be all it takes to address that. Regardless, FOC is endlessly impressive, innit?
Love both of my Emos! I have the tow truck with an axe system in it, and a stock (so far) 6x6 emo. Well built machines but parts availability in the States is sparse. So I'm pretty careful with them. And their website is not that great for parts.
You're probably not the demographic this is for, I'm going to guess 🤣 Though in Australia, this is 40% the price of an X-Maxx, so they're not exactly comparable. I paid USD$538 for it, delivered. Traxxas is cheaper in the USA, but they're still what, USD$1100 or so there? Similar difference in price.
You’re shopping apples against oranges if you’re comparing an X Maxx to this. They’re not even in comparable categories. Like saying “an RC10 is only 2WD and my Maxx is 4WD”…… It makes no sense 😂😂😂
Stop caring what others think. Life is too short to try to get your validation from others, because that's a nearly impossibly steep mountain to climb. When you find something you love, lean into it. Enjoy it and you'll find you draw others to you. And you know I'm not just making this up because I'm putting it all out there by doing this channel - can't hide I play with toy trucks not just for fun but I've made it into a job. Honestly, this is attractive to most people. If some don't see it, that's okay. My wife is totally not into it, and again, that's fine. I don't need her to be. I love it, I find meaning from the social connections it brings, and I'm happy. That's more than enough 👍
It's a hobby like anything else. It just happens to be tiny cars. It could be classic cars or golf or cycling or guitars or shoes. This is something that brings us joy, it doesn't really need a justification as long as it's not impacting other plans (saving for a house or something) or like keeping us from paying the bills. We can't really help what catches our interest
@ Amazing reply ! Totally true . I love it . Keeps me sharp . I’ve learned a lot and it’s the only real hobby I’ve ever had . Thank you for the content !
It’s also important to be happy with what you have. If you have 8 cars already… do you really need more? For me, I really want a UDR … but I am happy with the cars that I have. I have a Mojave as my desert racer. I have 1 scale rig that I love to customize. 1 performance rig that I also modify. Then a handful of bashers. Over 6 years in the hobby I’ve amassed 6 cars. I am very happy with what I have. It’s important to recognize that more cars will not make you happy. Be satisfied with what you have.
Looks like an interesting platform! I'm a sucker for locking difs, multi speed gearboxes and all those bells and whistles. 😅

That's fair. Haven't got enough of this vehicle type. I was doing it by wheelbase as a workaround, which seemed the next best approach!

Haha my pleasure 😎
These always look so fun and I love how the suspension moves at speed
Same, very much!
I really like the CrossRC stuff, it looks good and seems to perform pretty well.
The quality is there. And they have their own unique designs, which means with their modern vehicles, whatever one you like best is going to be a decent rig.
Every time I see one of your videos with something I am not interested in, I get interested in it !!!!!! LMAO 🙂
It's a sign that you've got good taste 😉

I've wanteds this for a long time, but it's always been sold out on the Cross website.
That's a shame - I think you'll be very happy with it when you do get your hands on one!

I thought of the Ryft when driving this and in maybe every way I think this is the better car.
I would be curious how it does with stiffer springs, thicker oil etc, some other tires and doing 50mph.... Looks cool
50mph, lol. I don't think it would matter what you did to it, short of a super LCG conversion, it'd be crazy unstable at that speed!
@RCTNT don't have any, but like the concept of ifs/solid rear... Has its flaws, but just cool... Like the Baja trucks etc... And looks quite beefy this truck

I've found AliExpress sellers can get nearly anything, if you ask. This is the weakness of Cross RC in the USA, unfortunately.
bummer, sold out in the US Cross RC store
Plenty on AliExpress, though I don't know about shipping to USA.
$1000 for that ??????? Not only no but HELL NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll stick with my XMAXX
