Because they're made for the back of a car, I'd say fairly big boxes. Don't give them small ones like I had in the videos, not sure how or why they became a thing.
The Pioneer TS-A6996R A series 6x9 650W 5 way speaker will give you great sound. The frequency response is 28hz... Try testing this! You won’t be disappointed!
Ive got two 6x9's in the back of my car and two 6.5" mid range jbls for the front doors of my cars and I just installed a 12 inch 1200 watt subwoofer, and it sounds amazing
@@johnrico1788 I have a 2000 Toyota Camry. I took out the stock 6x9’s out and repacked then with these. I’m not sure I understand the question they fit into place and I secured them against the metal frame of the car.
Yeah it should be a straight swap if your car has speakers on the parcel shelf. Otherwise you're gonna have to wire rear outputs that come from the stereo manually, by removing some interior side trim panels and laying down wiring the way people typically do with power wires or RCAs for amps.
StonerMind, watching your recent videos has been very useful for me, I've been wanting to upgrade the stock rear 6x9s in my car but not sure what the most reasonable option would be, cost vs sound quality. My car already has Mach "premium audio" in it, but it could always sound better. My Audiobahn 12's already overpower everything, so I need some sound clarity back in my life. Thanks for the awesome content!

I recommend that when you have the speakers sounding you have to have them at the level of the face or ear so that they are heard as headphones (an experience of mine having the same speakers)
Jbl speakers always sounded quite balanced with the bass and treble. Even the cheaper line speakers do very well. Yet Ive only bought a simple 90 euro 12 inch subwoofer from jbl so far. Also that one is decent for the price and its sits now 10 years in my vw beetle and still going strong. In my other car I use a Ground Zero amp and Phonocar compo set speakers that do the job very well.

We’re the mid and tweeter slightly crooked so that the grill won’t go on smoothly? I’m finding that mine are not perfectly lined up and would rather not force it on. Thanks
It also wouldn't be an accurate test, they would peak at a certain frequency and some of the drivers would do better in a ported box compared to a sealed box
小萌妹 no. When six by nines are in the trunk that represents a large sealed box. When six by nines are in the door it represents a medium semi sealed box and no time in normal 6 by 9 installation do any of their installations mimic a ported box, so no ported test will be needed.
Yep, you can in fact buy a similar parcel shelf style ready made box that has a port. I've actually just ordered a pair so I can see if freeing up the pressure in the box makes any real difference to the bass response. In the (necessarily) small box that these tests are based on the speaker cone cannot move freely enough due to the small volume of sealed in air causing pressure on the cone. Thus the bass response is quite limited. Having a port may or may not have a significant difference because the enclosure is still very small, I'm about to find out though!

I've got another comment to add though, the system is currently running off of my aftermarket Sony head unit with the exception of my subs, but the head unit only puts out 55rms per channel... You're undoubtedly getting better results than me with these speakers, even though they're running off of very little power, they get QUITE loud and flex a good amount! I want to make a video demonstrating my setup :P
the point at which the flex is so much you hear distortion is probably when it's too much mechanically for the speaker, or audibly for the stereo. In this video I think I have quite a bit of power going to them but I can't put a number on it and also they're receiving the entire lower range of frequencies too. The overly small sealed boxes they were in prevent them from flexing as much as they'd be able to in the back of a car though.
