enjoyed the video! the rockies fan in you came out with the arenado comment though, hed need to play into his 40s or go on a crazy run of post season performances to even have a remote chance at this point
Great video. I would just like to point out that most of those guys have earlier cards - prospect, minor, pre-minor, etc. And at least 9 players have earlier autographed cards: 2005 Upper Deck USA Clayton Kershaw Auto, 2008 Upper Deck USA Bryce Harper Auto, 2008 Upper Deck USA Manny Machado Auto, 2006 Topps Aflac Freddie Freeman Auto, 2015 Bowman Under Armour Bo Bichette Auto, 2009 Upper Deck USA Francisco Lindor Auto, 2011 All-American Perfect Game Carlos Correa Auto, 2010 Bowman Chrome Draft Corey Seagar Auto and 2016 BBM Go Higher Shohei Ohtani Auto.
4x? How many players in the past year since the market has cooled have seen a 4x return? Acuna just went 40/70 and his cards are up like 15% even Seager’s cards only 2X and they started much lower
id be willing to bet a pretty penny , vegas dave still owns the trout superfractor, he was busted manipulating the sales of his cards on ebay and if you dont think hed lose several hundred thousand in auction fees to move the floor of that card to 4 million yourre crazy, trouts career has kinda faded off since then so i wouldnt be surprised if this card surfaces again soon if trout starts hot
Show Idea for Spitballin’ Cards: Question for panel… If you were given $1 million dollars and had to spend it on baseball cards only what would you buy? Budget accordingly. Only baseball cards, not bats/balls/jerseys/other sports. And if given another $1 million what basketball / football cards would you buy other than Jordan Fleer 1996?
Just because a player doesn't do good for 1 year doesn't mean anything.. he's still young and he's proven he can hit 40+ Homers.. he actually did good last season just wasn't good enough for fans..
The fact that the Degrom went for more than sure fire HOFers just shows how little it matters that a guy is on a HOF path, as far as how much their cards go for. I personally don’t get that investment mindset. There’s many HOFers out there that don’t go for a whole lot. I see a guy like Goldschmidt being the same way.
But Scottie talks all the time about how guys are a good investment because he’s on a HOF track. Yet Degrom isn’t and he sells for more. It shows that if your an icon for a fanbase, it means more (price wise) than putting up HOF numbers
@joes7972 Thank you for watching!! Here are my thoughts. Being a hall of famer doesn't guarantee that you will always have value, and not making the hof doesn't guarantee that your cards will be worthless. Most of the time both of these statements are true, but it is not always the case. Also, in Degrom's case, it was at the peak hype of his market and almost the peak of the sports card market. In my opinion, if these cards were to sell today, they would go for a fraction of the price. Speculation/hype can do crazy things for cards.
@@scottiebcards2354without a doubt. I just in general think the investment mindset of “this guys in his mid 30s and will be a HOFer, so he’s a good investment long term” won’t end up making much sense down the road. A guy like Goldschmidt will be a HOFer, but who’s gonna be collecting Goldschmidt in 20 years? If a guy doesn’t have a large collector fanbase, I feel like him simply becoming a HOFer upon retirement won’t make his cards shoot up.
Great video! Super informative and interesting. As a D-Backs fan, cool to see a few D-Backs cards on the list. Just too bad they aren’t still playing on the D-Backs!
Back in 2011 I pulled the Clayton Kershaw 2006 Bowman 1st Gold Auto, got it graded BGS 9.5/10 and then sold right after he won the Cy Young for $700. Was happy with the price and it was a good price at the time. But man that is the one card that I wish I never sold and held onto.
Vladdy better hit tons of Plakata's, win both an MVP and a WS for that card to retain that high value. Triple Crown won't hurt either. Hope he has a bounce back massive year!!
Absolutely amazing….and not necessarily in a good way. Vintage has more stability than modern yet those with super deep pockets pour 💰💰💰into modern without players establishing themselves 🧐
From memory, and someone might remember and check me, but pretty sure Fernando Tatis Jr. 2017 Bowman Chrome Superfractor Auto was on Blowout Forums and went for only a few grand. Seems crazy now, but at the top wasn't a huge prospect and it was 2x the cost of a case.
The crazy part hopefully whoever bought those cards we’re collectors not flippers there’s no way some of those cards will sell for more then what they sold for.
The Devers and Vladdy sales look absurd at this point. The Mookie super looks like the best deal, as that would probably go for at least 3x the price right now. Kershaw also a steal considering how much Lindor, Tatis, and others went for.
No Jasson Dominguez? His MLB stint was cut short last year, but I think his highest sale would be top 5 (if memory serves). Thanks for the great content.
You cannot produce enough content..... another super topic coming from the Scotty B Cards Monastery of Higher Learning. That Wander Franco 193k is a suicidal thought......
Coming into collecting late, I'd love peoples' opinions - If I look up the card history and it's a former PWCC card and then the original owner has a "questionable history" in the market on Reddit, etc ... I should stay away, right? I'm shopping Jordan Fleer 57 and so many are red flags for me.
In November of 2021 Mad Max had a regular 2008 psa 10 sell for $6,300 on heritage. Perhaps people bidding with money who had no clue what they were doing…
This was fun, lot of cards I followed. I lost that Arenado red twice, same card went on alt a year earlier for about 16k. Couldn't believe how much it was bid up the second time around, so it goes with bidding wars etc. I guess. Fun fact: that Vlad red sold like 2-3 days after he had a 3 hr game. Amazing timing for the seller lol. Re: Trout, a red psa 10 sold for 'just' 440K ish this year around May I think on Goldin. Based on that I'd put the super right now around 1.2mil.
Jose altuve will make the HALL OF FAME i can care less what haters think.. he won 2nd world series without a problem thats good enough in my book.. Altuve WAR is 49.3 and he's only 33 haters can always hate statistics don't lie!!
doesn't matter he's still making the HOF regardless.. he's done it all he's gotten almost every award MLB has to offer his resume speaks for itself.. even if he's not first ballot HOF which I think he will get but eventually he will get in.. don't forget Justin Verlander was there also and he's definitely going to the HOF
I will take vintage any day of fhe week over these much ballyhooed overpriced ultra modern cards. Hell I could buy a 68 Venezuelan Ryan rookie for less than most of these if I had the money. Ohtani going to Dodgers gives all his cards a boost imo.
Great video! thanks for putting it together. 3m for a card... crazy
Perfect video!!!
enjoyed the video! the rockies fan in you came out with the arenado comment though, hed need to play into his 40s or go on a crazy run of post season performances to even have a remote chance at this point
Good video. I can’t believe how ridiculous the prices are for these cards.
I like how Ro Richette's autograph is just 2 R's 10:44
Well done
Harper! Crazy $$
Great show! Maybe a show that doesn’t include autos so the rest of us budget conscious buyers can chase our favorites
I have a Juan Soto rookie patch auto ungraded this makes me want to get it graded. 14:53
That Franco is brutal.
Loved this video! Thank you so much
This scherzer chromes are going for way more now - as we speak!
That ten is currently listed at 30k lol
Verlander red and Lindor super seemed like the best buys.
Sheesh thats a lot of dollars!!

Where can you pull these from? A Hobby box of Bowman Chrome?
RIP to the owner of that Wander Franco
I've been snatching up vladdy's lately. If he has a good year next year his cards will be worth 4x what they're going for now

Altuve is a HOFer! I hate the Astros but he's a money player regardless
So crazy about a 1/3 of these will be fails
On 130point you can find out how much the best offer was
Was waiting for you to pull out the Mookie Super on camera
That vladimir Guerrero probably looked like a good buy at the time, guarantee that was when we all coudlnt miss with our purchases
Also was probably when Guerrero was good😂

The 2019 non-auto Guerrero Jr superfractor sold for something like 11k on COMC (why ????) in November 2022, if you want a more down to earth price.

Excellent video topic and content Scottie ! 👍🏻
Great research Scottie! Very entertaining video
HOF has vertically nothing to do with the prices on cards. It's value is what someone is willing to spend
Pete Alonso isn’t in the Top 25 most collected guys? I’m certainly biased, but that shocks me.
how do you use card ladder to search like this? I tried to search some players and it said it didnt have them
oh looks like you need a pro account
My brother pulled the 2005 Justin Verlander 1/1 super fractor. Had it graded, 9.5.. Waiting for him to go to HOF.
Always enjoy the depth of your videos. Always so well done. Great work my guy.

Anyone know if there is a 2017 wbc superfractor for Ohtani

Ohtani will pass Mike trout someday.
Heck yeah they timed it well. Unless of course you bought it for 2 million and sold it for 1 million!
