- Singapore students have been ranked first for mathematics, science and reading in an international benchmarking study.
The Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) 2022 measures how well students use their knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems.
More Singapore students were also among the top performers in the study with fewer students falling in the low performers classification.

So Singapore has probably topped the PISA world ranking for many years.

I went thru the PISA analysis, you will think the 29% immigrant in Singapore have a handicap as majority or 64% don’t speak English at home right? I’m shock that not only are the majority of immigrants richer than Singaporeans, they also have better grades in Math and English. This shows they either study to death or have a lot of tuition to help them with the subjects. If the immigrants bring their culture of all study and no life, tuition for everything, we really have no chance to let our kids live but to take part in the more intense competition if not we will be left behind. Do we want our society to be like theirs where the effects of such mindless studying makes the young people unwilling to set up a family so that they don’t have to let the next generation suffer what they suffered as shown from the place they migrated from.
Shanghai hs students are specifically chosen
I believe our score could be higher, some rebellious students didn't take this test seriously as it is not graded and they were angry to stay back in school just to take this. They anyhow scribble in the answers randomly. But probably everywhere such students exist and the results would have accounted for this

Actually, Shanghai and Beijing are over-rated. For example, the mathematical cream of China is in Hubei. I suggest PISA in future test more groupings e.g. (Shandong-Fujian-Hubei-Sichuan) in China other than the (Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang) group. And I wouldn't be surprised China then permanently hog the top 5 places. Just consider even now, the top 6 places are all East Asians including Taiwan, Macau, HK - all Chinese-origin systems. Only Singapore in ASEAN bucks the trend - but there again, Singapore is 75% Chinese-origin.

Singapore is not Chinese. There are Malays, Indians and other races unlike China which is totally Chinese.
Chinese students from those top province study from morning 5 am to almost 12 midnight… if you are Chinese, of course you can beat all the other students from other countries. They just need to study and don’t live a life. Is this what all other society wants? And when these young people grow up, they realised with so many hours of study, they can’t even land a decent job to survive. Guess how many are lying flat or giving up and aren’t interested in setting up family as they don’t want the next generation to go thru what they did.
