I guess it has to do with what part of the art requires creativity. I also wouldn't really call generated images art, but capable of competing with it. A drawing for example requires creativity beyond just finding a concept, for example the art style itself. People using genai can also compile art styles, as well as fine tuning them. But genai pumps out images way faster
How do you define 'truly creative'..? All great art stands on the shoulders of its predecessors. All art - commercial or non-commercial uses references and technology created by others. Not to be confused with plagiarism.
