Welcome bro. If you want to try a taste of what iPhones have to offer without jumping into the deep end, I would recommend getting any of the following: an iPhone 15 of any model, an iPhone 16 with whatever storage you need, or getting the new iPhone SE that will be releasing soon. Personally, even though I'm a photographer, I don't really care about my phone having an amazing camera and all that extra stuff, so I will almost definitely be getting an iPhone SE.
I have owned 2 iPhones in my whole life lol, they just last that long. I got an iPhone 5 in 2012 before going to college, and then I didn't buy a new iPhone until the iPhone XS until 2018, and now I'm finally considering getting a new one. I think the SE lineup is going to be the best value its ever been and its highly worth considering them, as you'll basically be getting the best version of the hardware that apple developed over the last 5 years, with all the kinks and issues worked out, but you'll get a contemporary chip in it, so you'll basically have the same processing power and longevity that the new phones are getting, but at almost half the price. Yeh you'll be missing a few features like the action button and the titanium frame, but the action button is kinda pointless, since apple iPhones already have a quick menu function to control all the things that the action button COULD do, but the action button only lets you map one function, where with the action menu, you just swipe down from the top right and you can customize all the shortcuts you want that you would normally put on the action button on the new ones.
I would also recommend picking up a new or used m1 air soon as well, considering you can get an m1 in nearly mint condition these days for only $350-$550 depending on the specs you get for it. I got a 16gb+512gb m1 air for $550. If you are having a good experience even with the 2016 Air, then it's all up from here and I think you will be very happy with their phones as well. Having an iPhone and MacBook at the same time is honestly amazing and it really does make your life extremely easy. You never get stuck not having an important file when you need it, because you can easily access everything on your computer with your phone and vice versa.
My family has been using apple since 1981, and so I've used their computers and products my whole life, and once you own a MacBook for a while, even if it's just an Air, those laptops are so good and so durable and so reliable that it's hard to ever wanna go back to anything else. So I'm glad you had a good experience with that 2016 Air in particular, since 2016-2019 was one of the worst times to get into Apple computers and products haha. They are considered by many apple fans to be the worst apple products released in the last 25 years, but even then, they were still great overall.
In my eyes, the more people that use Mac computers, the better. It just makes your life that much easier. I've never had any hardware failures or really any kind of issues with any of my computers or phones. They just work and they get updates for like 5-8 years depending on what you have. I was using my 2015 MBP in 2024 no problem and still getting security updates, but I couldn't upgrade to the latest OS without being a little sneaky with the software 😈

Love the info. Looking at a M3 currently but might wait for either a 14" or 16" Macbook Pro M4 Pro 18GB+/512GB. I really miss having a Macbook a lot since my last Macbook Pro was from 2011 and it was from another world. The Apple M chips looks amazing and I want to get back to a Macbook Pro. Ive tried a lot of "metal chassis PCs" since 2015 and its just not the same at all. Its like moving away from the home you love.

I likely would get a new iPad Pro this year. Still debating between 11 inch and 13 inch. A bit concerned the 13 would be more bulky and less convenient to use, than my current 11 inch iPad Pro. Any tips on where each fits best?

If you are unsure, it means that you have already made up your mind subconsciously. Choose the smaller one. The same thing happened to me with the MacBook Air, I chose the smaller one and I really didn't regret it. The larger size would be too uncomfortable to carry and use in hand.

Great video! Hopefully the M4 MBP will be announced at WWDC. The technology I'm needing is the iPad Mini when it's upgraded to an M chip. Ironically, my 2017 MacBook Pro needs a serious upgrade, but I'm saving money for that.
An iPad Mini would be the best choice for me in 2024 for all the content creation I do on the fly. An iPad Mini would just make it sooooo much easier.

As I said it’s impossible to predict cores now as Apple change them all the time on every generation. For Ram on M4 right now for iPad it starts at 8GB…. So might be the same for MacBooks
