Mike's wolf companion in Until Dawn, who will follow you if you treat it kindly rather than attempt to hurt it, is the only thing that kept me sane through that abandoned hospital bit. I've never loved a non-mount/companion animal in a game as much as I love that wolf

I can see why Capcom did it, since the Remakes are going a more horror route than the original games. I mean look at the gun shop owner in Resident Evil 2 Remake, I mean he was still killed by zombies in the original game but they changed it in the remake by having him kill himself after he's forced to kill his own wife and daughter when they get infected. Although if they tone down the horror aspect and allow us to save the doggo again, that'll be cool beans too.

Fable 3 showed you that being nice is great and all, but helping orphans and cleaning up the town isn't free, and it's drawing money directly from the funds that could be going towards the war effort.
When I got to that part of the game, I found every moral dilemma incredibly draining, but in a good way. I knew it was more work I'd have to do if I wanted to keep my promises and fix the kingdom.

The Rachni decision is even less ambiguous than Jane makes it seem. Not only is it magnanimous of Shepherd to not re-exterminate them, and anything that bothers the Council is at least worth considering in my book, but you get the decision to recruit the Rachni in ME3 either way. If you saved the queen, you meet up with her again, and she recognizes you, adding the 100 points to the war effort - albeit at the cost of 25 points' worth of dead Krogan shock troops, but on balance that's still a hefty net gain. Besides, Krogan love fighting to the death anyway, so it's win-win, really.
If you destroyed the original queen, you still meet up with _a_ Rachni queen, but this time it's a clone created by the Reapers. You can still add her hundred points of War Assets, but the clone's loyalty to Shepherd is a lot shakier, and the queen later betrays Shepherd. Not only does she take her hundred points of WA away from your total, she and her brood horrifically butcher a battalion of Systems Alliance combat engineers on their way out, making for a huge net _loss_ of 200 War Asset points.

I still strongly disagree with a lot of the points you get for decisions like this.
The council 100% would want the rachni exterminated again and letting a former near apocalyptic threat loose on the galaxy isn't something an upstanding paragon of virtue should be doing; even if they pinky-promised they wouldn't do it again.
The choices are actually more divided into "good" vs "effective", with being a Paragon or Renegade having nothing to do with where they end up.
A "Paragon" playthrough has you go rogue nearly half the time, defying orders or taking incredible risks that could easily end horribly.
A "Renegade" playthrough keeps you following orders half the time, just obliterating a potential threat or gunning down a potential ally.

In Minecraft, when you defend a village from a raid (that you may or may not have unintentionally or intentionally started) from the villainous illagers (illagers are the evil version of villagers and they live in mansions and outposts rather than villages), which depending on your difficulty level could be the easiest raid or you could be screaming every 5 seconds because a witch keeps killing you, you will be rewarded with a firework show and a "hero of the village" effect, which will make every villager trade in that village at a really good discounted and affordable price, which can be beneficial if you need new set of diamond armor but can't afford the regular undiscounted price of 32 emeralds, or just need a lot of food for a expedition

I might even want to talk about the rescue of Ford Schick, a friend of important secret character Smuggler, which was supposed to give you a permanent discount on the latter's wares and also a sizable amount of lore conversations with the former, but alas, a bug ultimately prevents this from happening; it's still not fixed officially for the vanilla GotY version as of November 2022, although mods like GMDX already have.
This could be a notable example of how video game bugs that lessen a game's value, like when a certain handshake in Mass Effect 3 was actually reinstalled for the ME Legendary Edition and fan patches for the original games. Hope OXbox/OXtra makes such a list or two.

I had no idea that the Aerondight quest might care what choices I'd made throughout the rest of the DLC and picked it up on my first playthrough without even trying... good lord, I'm so straight-laced when I play games.
It's not quite as direct, but Planescape: Torment (a game from 1999 based on D&D rules and setting) frequently rewards completing quests with tact, talking to people and problem-solving without resorting to combat with much more XP and better results from NPCs, which is interesting for something based on D&D, a game where combat is most of what the rules cover. It really cares about the alignment system, and your ability to get the 'best' of the endings (a very loose turn of phrase given what said ending is, but anyhow) is contingent on keeping your alignment in the better part of the grid.
And in Planescape: Torment as in Blood and Wine, I casually walked into a Lawful Good playthrough without even trying very hard, and was then very confused when friends told me it was difficult to keep your alignment that way.

I agree to other voices to have this list the other way around, but also in tandom to this episode i want to add Dark Souls to both lists:
For this Video, Dark Souls 3, bringing Siegward of Catarina his armor and emotionally support him inbetween! He pairs up with you against the Boss Yhorm with a sword able to plummeting even giants.
    For a contrary List:
Saving Lautric in Dark Souls 1 before the Bell Gargoyles. He is grateful, makes for a nice talk and....SOON KILLS YOUR FIRE KEEPER? Which ends the flame on your starter Area and cuts away one path to upgrade your Estus as well as a teleport point. Really annoying

13:48 If you DO kill Patches, you can just take his Bell Bearing to the twin husks at the roundtable hold and still have access to his shop inventory. You could just spare him to get the gesture and rune item, then pull a Patches and betray him immediately for MORE runes AND his bell bearing. Serves him right, I'd say.

If given the option I always go for the morally right option. In fact I felt bad when killing off the first boss of Remember Me and turned the game off. He just sat there all defencelessly and the only reason I went up and used the prompt to end him was because I feared he would get up again. I really wanna go back in and finish that game at some point.

Not sure if this counts, but in Jedi Academy if you spare Rosh, when you go to Korriban you'll have the other students to help you fight off the Disciples of Ragnos. This as supposed to the killing Rosh and you have to fight EVERYBODY on Korriban.

In Black Mesa, using the lethal toxin canister to kill the Gonarch basically opens up the ability to a secret path that takes you straight to the next level without killing the Gonarch. You get an achievement for doing so and gameplay is not affected.

Binary domain is another game that should have been on this list because of the secret ending you can get by getting very high trust with all of your teammates throughout the game your robot ally Cain who you thought was dead or deactivated returns to assist you in the final boss fight

Patches never surrendered to me during the fight ... perhaps because he died in one hit.

Obvious missing example: Bioshock and saving the Little Sisters. You not only get just as much (if not more; I can't be bothered to look it up) Adam overall, as a total of getting it from them when you rescue them and getting it from the gifts they leave you, you also get bonus tonics in those gifts they leave you.

      Also, you get unique plasmids

@@CodaBlair Do you also get plasmids? I know you get some combat, health, or security tonics, but I didn't realize you also got plasmids. Probably because I tend to ignore most plasmids that appear once I've got the ability to cover all of my enemies in bees. 😉😁

Another one is the Gift of Charity in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, when a beggar asks for a gold piece, you get The Gift of Charity, which boosts your Speechcraft (allowing you better bartering, persuasion, and other speech related things) by 10 points for one hour, which isn't the best buff in game, but it is pretty good for a minor little warmth in your heart and the feeling of helping someone

Fun fact, you can get Patches to start attacking you again by hitting him a few times. If he then beats up you too much he'll offer you surrender to him, earning you another gesture.

In Infamous 1 & 2, they did a VERY good job of balancing the powers out by making the evil side powers more destructive and making the good side powers easier to use and softer on your electricity gauge. Some of the good side ability automatically subdued enemies and some even restored your energy.

This video might be a month old but for me Patches is like a bed after a tiring day, comforting; I know where I stand with him and he's the one constant that I can count on.

In Elden Ring the Shackle works on Morgott "too" because Margit is actually a persona created by Morgott. Since he's an Omen, who are massive pariahs under the Golden Order, he can't let the people of Leydenall know what he really is, so he has his Margit persona for when he needs to go out and potentially be seen.

Another example in this list is in COD4:MW you can save a soldier from being shot and he will help you fight plus an achievement.

II'd love to see a video about how situations in computer games have permanently changed your playstyle.
I always wanted to play a good hero who solves the world's problems. That changed after the Witcher 3, especially in the mission where you have to sacrifice either children or a whole village. This showed me that purely good solutions are rather boring and easily forgotten, but the quests where you sit in front of the screen for 30 minutes because you weigh the pros and cons of your decision stay with you forever.
Now I really like to play Antiheros in a moral gray area.

Wait hold on, what about dealing with the divine beasts in Breath of The Wild? Stopping all four of them from rampaging gives you four cool abilities and shaves off half of Ganon's health in the difficult first phase.
Edit: The champion weapons! How could I forget the champion weapons!
