i hadn't had much feeling about the nf movie till i saw the little clip before SJ's interview, and OMG she looks so - 'destroyed' and unlike herself i've known before this role... and sobb... it reminds me of (well at least one, maybe two;0) a breakup i experienced before, and "feeling for the other" ("i don't want her to go thru this")... and, yet, feeling forced for my own self-preservation, "i have to do this"... ;\ i wonder if that's the deepness that this story goes thru. i would (kind of) hope so, if only for the real-ness of such an intense breakup can be for two people. ;0 p.s. although relating also to the 'acting' component that you were responding to... there is that too; having just a bare-minimal amount of acting-exp too... but here, thinking of that little clip i saw, made me think even more personally about what this flick must be like... 'a good (bad) one'! ;) and here, i'd been thinking this must be like a modern 'the graduate'... ;) that it was maybe made like, 'something kewl, but with just a little twist at the end'... this looks a lot more intense and drawn-out. (i wonder if adam ends up looking as destroyed as scarlett! ;)

Some people are like that...for me it was the same with Chris Pine. The first time I saw him on screen I was like um...what? And within minutes I was like...hey who's this hottie?

I have been a fan of SC since The Daily Show then full run of The Report...never seen him so personally invested in the subject matter of a non Lord of the Rings film before. Some of the questions asked seemed more geared to the actual character instead of his portrayer to me. I could be wrong

The Spirit Awards Just nominated movies such as Marriage Story, The Lighthouse and Uncut Gems for a number of categories. There’s nothing wrong in being excited about it. I also enjoy the oscars’s existence in the way that I can laugh about it while watching YMS live reactions of it so... Win/Win scenario.
I really hated the character "Kylo Ren", and not because he was an aspiring Sith, but because I found him dull, shallow, meh.... as a movie-character in the first place. But Adam Driver seems like a really great guy; he deserved MUCH better than Kylo.
His answer to Stephen's question about using his own marriage as inspiration was very sobering and honest. I like that he didnt do a "well my wife would kill me if I did such and such," meme for an easy laugh.
Adam Driver's performance in this movie is Oscar Worthy. This movie is well written, it has great acting, it's beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

I've never been a huge fan of Colbert, but this is a fantastic interview, a conversation, which all good interviews should feel like. They both have such a clear investment in this movie and the story that it is telling. Colbert even almost went without mentioning Star Wars, which I would imagine Driver gets asked about constantly, so it's refreshing to see.

This is a fundamental part of great art that is really misunderstood in the popular imagination. The artists we see on screen or hear on the radio don't have to share their "true" selves for us to experience art and feel something.

There's this one scene where I tell myself I'm not going to cry..then I see his eyes and I lose it everytime. I watched this movie 2x on my first view I had to go back an relive these performances again. Instant classic.
He is incredible in Marriage Story. If you have a theatre nearby that's screening it, go see it. I feel like it's one of those movies that is best absorbed when you're not distracted by other things (there are so many subtle moments that you could totally miss watching at home). As soon as i heard he’d be singing Being Alive in MS i listened to the song on loop for weeks. Then when i finally heard him sing it so beautifully in one take i cried. With the context of what Charlie went through with the divorce it was so much heavier than i anticipated.
I appreciate whoever titled this video. Most talk show interview clips have somewhat clickbait-y titles but this video has an actually accurate title- it's kinda refreshing. And I also appreciate Colbert being so cleanly invested in the movie and asking interesting questions.
I've been in love with Adam Driver for awhile now, but after seeing him as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and Charlie in Marriage Story, I'm more deeply in love with him and his acting. He deserves all the Oscars
The way they portray divorce in this movie is raw and heartbreaking..but the characters handle it with grace as far as their son goes. They keep him informed, but make an effort not to put him in the middle. They aren’t perfect, but man..I wish my parents were more like them when they were separating. I think all people going through a divorce should watch it, honestly. All situations are unique but when kids are involved I think this could serve as an example.
One of the most underrated actors of our generation. Saw Marriage Story in theatres and there was a particular scene that broke my heart and had me producing alligator tears, to the point I couldn't stop because I could literally sense his heartache. God damn someone give him his Oscar ASAP

He is incredible in Marriage Story. If you have a theatre nearby that's screening it, go see it. I feel like it's one of those movies that is best absorbed when you're not distracted by other things (there are so many subtle moments that you could totally miss watching at home).
Also, I'm surprised Stephen didn't talk to him about his rendition of 'Being Alive', considering how much of a Sondheim fan he is :(
As soon as i heard he’d be singing Being Alive in MS i listened to the song on loop for weeks. Then when i finally heard him sing it so beautifully in one take i cried. With the context of what Charlie went through with the divorce it was so much heavier than i anticipated.
Never seen Stephen getting much more involved and interested in an interview before.
I appreciate whoever titled this video. Most talk show interview clips have somewhat clickbait-y titles but this video has an actually accurate title- it's kinda refreshing. And I also appreciate Colbert being so cleanly invested in the movie and asking interesting questions.
He seems to be a very serious, focused guy. So talented.

I've been in love with Adam Driver for awhile now, but after seeing him as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and Charlie in Marriage Story, I'm more deeply in love with him and his acting. He deserves all the Oscars

The way they portray divorce in this movie is raw and heartbreaking..but the characters handle it with grace as far as their son goes. They keep him informed, but make an effort not to put him in the middle. They aren’t perfect, but man..I wish my parents were more like them when they were separating. I think all people going through a divorce should watch it, honestly. All situations are unique but when kids are involved I think this could serve as an example.
I felt this was one of his better interviews because he actually watch the movie before hand. His question were full of depth.

One of the most underrated actors of our generation. Saw Marriage Story in theatres and there was a particular scene that broke my heart and had me producing alligator tears, to the point I couldn't stop because I could literally sense his heartache. God damn someone give him his Oscar ASAP
His jawline is so vertical it's crazy. He's got such a unique look
our generation is so blessed to have him as an actor , literally in love with him and how he talks and carries himself and how well he can act , also his looks😂. but marriage story is one of the best movies i’ve ever watched. 10/10 recommended.
