I could be mistaken, but I think this is the reason why Harley Quinn Season 5 has been delayed. To give Creature Commandos a chance to shine without having to compete against another critically acclaimed DC Animated Series.
Gunn has said that he wrote CREATURE COMMANDOS without a greenlight and was working on the SUPERMAN script before he was put in charge of the DCU, so it could be that the studio is just eager to get this going with stuff they think might make up for the disastrous two years since BLACK ADAM and this show was just a case of the risks being low and the scripts being ready and able to be animated quickly.
When I saw the trailers, i was like " Ok". But seeing the episodes 1 & 2 , i can agree, it has promise. Im interested, but i wanna see the rest of it. Right now, I'm interested to see where it goes.
Peacemaker had a very weak 1st episode, but things really picked up from there. Episode 1 of CC isn't amazing but episode 2 got better. I have a feeling it will keep building.

Well to be fair, it is a new lore with mostly unfamiliar characters with the exception of Waller and Weasel, so of course it's hard to say if it's good or bad. That's why making this animated is a smart move. I think the point of this show is put the lore in the new universe, and it's clear that they establishing the history of DCU first.
I wish this was live action instead of animated, but after 2 episodes I'm onboard with this. I love the James Gunn overall feeling of the show, the humor and the music and the style. I'm looking forward to the next one. I still like Peacemaker better, but this is good.

I hope Frankenstein is in going forward too. Done with the first episode of Creature Commandos. In only 23 minutes I felt like a lot happened. In dialogue and visuals that took place along with music that matched the scene it was meant for.
Episode 2 is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Anyone who has watched episode 1& 2 together in their right sense of mind will give this a 9/10 …… and yes one more thing guys ,,, don’t always put James Gunn’s new Dc era and all that stuff , just do yourself a favour and enjoy the show
It's hard to adjust to the slower pace after X-Men 97 came out the gate like "bam bam bam boom boom" and this show comes out the gate like "pew pew". I have a feeling the show will pick up and have some cool easter eggs as it progresses. Maybe even Batman or someone more unexpected from the Bat family.
Being a romantic I was hoping that Frankenstein and Bride we're going to be together. But now I'm just seeing this I'm having some serious second thoughts I think I'd rather she date the weasel than him.
Im a big DC fan. I have loved everything so far personally. Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are both amazing shows in my opinion. As for creature commandos I really like what we have so far but its early to say if its going to stick the landing or flop.

I don’t recall being a huge fan of Harley Quinn two episodes in, but I definitely enjoyed these. Enjoyed the more funky needle drops when compare to some of his Guardian ones.. loved the line up of characters n their respected voice actors n excited to see more!
7:00 James Gunn in his DCU slate release literally said Superman is what’s going to really kick off the DCU. Creature Commandos I think is just a good piece of content to watch.. something to feed us until the DCU truly gets started with the live action and cinematic. I feel like we need to relax with expectations (despite Creature Commandos probably still being a critically great show) and just appreciate what we’re watching and getting from the DCU

I do wonder if it was always the plan to launch the DCU with Creature Commandos, or if the timing of everything just had that be the first project nearest to the finish. Who knows--maybe the Commandos play into something major that everything will be building up to, and we'll all look back and go "Oh. Yeah, that makes sense now."

They had it done and they needed content so why throw the baby out with the bath water. Also it reversely canonized his past two projects and peacemaker is potent one of the greatest DC shows ever and that requires the suicide squad to be canon. The suicide squad to me was the first DC movie that truly felt like the world of DC comics on the screen and not just snippets of it. He can’t say that suicide squads the start with out always addressing the canon inconsistency’s and it would make the Snyder fans mad plus possibly confusing the audience further on continuity.
I liked the premiere, but I think it spent too much time introducing the characters and setting up the show's brand of humor and it was only till the last few minutes of episode 2 that the story started to fire on all cylinders.
Hot take: the whole 'assembling a rag-tag group of characters that lack a certain aspect of their personality and they let the whole world know it by being either complete messes or absolute assholes' story that James Gunn has been doing for over a decade now is honestly getting really stale, and it clearly shows with Creature Commandos. If you listen to James Gunn's recent interview, he said that Superman is not an ensemble. It is all mainly about Superman, Lois, and Lex. I.e. a Superman movie.

It is not Justice League or a team up movie. Yes, there are other heroes in this, but it is a Superman movie. Why would he lie about it? He is in charge of DC studios. If he really wanted to start with a full-on team up movie, he could, and nobody could do anything about it. He could have started with Justice League if he really wanted to, but he is doing Superman.
Problem for me is it dragged its feet, it needs a boost, at first i was happy for only 30mins episodes but maybe it should be 1 hour, or at least give the first 3 episodes 1 hour episodes

It was decent. Not great, not bad - but good enough that I'm down for finishing out the season at least, so in that regard I'd call it a success. Unless it gets *REALLY* good though, I doubt I'll continue watching beyond the first season. There are just too many great shows to keep up with that "decent" doesn't cut it anymore.

The Creature Commandos season is a generic piece of work with juvenile humor and adult oriented scenes which is a total bastardization of what the DC brand truly represents. I'm giving it a 2.5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐
Honestly, this was ok to me. It felt very GOTG and SS, always with that characteristic james gunn sense of humor. It didn't feel very original to be a "Max original" product xd. I bet near the end there's gonna be a conversation with Rick Flag referencing superman and probably his involvement in the superman movie
I watched the first episodes just now and it's another Suicide Squad. A bunch of monsters who are criminals forced to do the bidding of Amanda Walls. I'm not really a fan of it yet but like the Bride of Frankenstein and Flagg so far.

For me I’m just over “edgy” “hyper violent” animated superhero shows it’s why I liked X-Men ‘97 so much it was mature but not edgy for the sake of it

Absolutely agree. I'm not a fan of "Gunn unleashed" I thought the Gunn-Disney marriage worked so well because it was James Gunn style with Disneys lightheartedness. The perfect combination. I just want pure super hero goodness now. I'm over the edgy shit

The first episode was boring (to me). Why is James Gunn obsessed with the Weasel character?? Is it because it's played by his brother Sean Gunn?

It was decent. Not great, not bad - but good enough that I'm down for finishing out the season at least, so in that regard I'd call it a success. Unless it gets *REALLY* good though, I doubt I'll continue watching beyond the first season. There are just too many great shows to keep up with that "decent" doesn't cut it anymore.

2. The bride was still learning English, she had no idea what love or even her feelings are. If Eric wasn’t taught about consent/morality/ethics, then the bride definitely wasn’t either
So victor was clearly manipulating and using the bride. Eric being an obsessive stalker shouldn’t take away from that fact

That's James Gunn .. Dude ain't funny. I always end up turning off every movie I try and watch of his. Slither was ok .. but that was a while ago and I don't like his superhero spoofs. He may be ok for these type of third string weird characters .. but he's definitely not the right guy for Superman. I think that movie is going to be a stinky wet hot turd.
@@Fiveash-Art James Gunn has said in the past that he turned down Justice League and Avenger movies because he doesn't want to tackle the popular heroes that fans feel an "ownership" over, so he likes doing smaller weird heroes that no one really knows. Now he's taking on Superman of all heroes. Lol. I have no doubt it will be a good movie but i was always worried about him doing it for that reason.. and also the "rumor" that he never really wanted to direct this particular movie, but was sort of peer pressured by Safran to do it.

The Creature Commandos season is a generic piece of work with juvenile humor and adult oriented scenes which is a total bastardization of what the DC brand truly represents. I'm giving it a 2.5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐

Honestly, this was ok to me. It felt very GOTG and SS, always with that characteristic james gunn sense of humor. It didn't feel very original to be a "Max original" product xd. I bet near the end there's gonna be a conversation with Rick Flag referencing superman and probably his involvement in the superman movie
I watched the first episodes just now and it's another Suicide Squad. A bunch of monsters who are criminals forced to do the bidding of Amanda Walls. I'm not really a fan of it yet but like the Bride of Frankenstein and Flagg so far.
