Yay!! What a great way to start the weekend (it is Friday here in Australia)! Gotta get my weekly fix! Ihope you never run out of soapy things to show us!!
@margeespela Hi Margee! To help your melt and pour layers stick together, I recommend spraying each layer generously with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Temperature could be another reason your layers did not stick together, super cold environments make it difficult for the layers to adhere. What you can do is simply remelt your layers individually, and pour them again spraying plenty of alcohol between each layer. I hope this helps!
Hi caitlin adam! The heat gun helps smooth the plastic wrap, and protect the soap from air. If you don't have a heat gun, you can simply wrap the soap in plastic. Just make sure to wrap it nice and tight. =)
You can package your soap with the technique in this video! That includes wrapping it with plastic wrap and using a heat gun. The heat gun will shrink the plastic wrap around the frosting. =) Also, we have some great ideas for decorating your soap. I'll link those videos below! Hi MaryJaneGrrl! I'm not quite sure what you mean =) The order in which I use heat on the different areas of the soap is the method I found to work best to result in smooth packaging.
This is great episode, thank you for making them. Is there any way to tell what mold goes with what packaging, i like box packages, it saves a lot of troubles, but, im starting out on this and i need to streamline everything before starting, the packaging on the site does not say what size the soap should be, what mold you need to use so you can get the dimensions right, and just worry about the thickness, is there any way to know this?
Hi Victor! All of our molds on the website will say what size the soaps are, and how many ounces the cavities hold. That way you know what size your soaps are and what size packaging they will fit into. =) Molds: www.brambleberry.com/Molds-C184.aspx Packaging: www.brambleberry.com/Packaging-C191.aspx
Hi, Thanks for your usefull tips! I live in a tropical climate (cambodia) and i have issues with packaging my CP soaps as we can get hot and sometimes very humid air. Does this wraping technique also works for CP soaps or only for M&P soaps? Thank you
Thank you. So could we use the transparent soap in the same manner as M & P before it hardens? Like can we embed in them and do swirls, etc.? I wish BB carried more than one organic M & P base. I'd love to see all of the specialty bases offered in organic, in addition to the regular bases, since having only one is very limiting. Also, it would be nice if you used a different type of protein than GM-soy (at least for the organic bases). Maybe wheat protein would be a good substitute? Thanks!
Great video! Do you have any tips on wrapping popsicle shaped soap? Shrink wrap never seems to work for me as I can't heat seal around the stick. I tried your plastic wrap recommendation and it just ended up looking messy :(
Hi! Would brambleberry consider selling those box patterns so we can make our own colored boxes out of construction paper? I, for one, would buy the patterns as a download! Thanks!
Hi! I don't own a heat gun but I still want to make soaps as gifts for family and friends. Do you have to use the gun or is it just for the smooth look?
Hello Anne-Marie! I really love finding this, because my soaps always sweat and i just didn't know what else to do... I just would like to know, because i'm gonna buy a heat gun, but they all have different temperatures... When you say low temperature, how low in degrees would you say? Thank you so much for all your tricks!
It's tricky to saw what the temperature would be because all temperature guns are different, I would make sure it's on the low setting and the gun is far enough away from the soap =)
Hi Ana Marie, I loved all your tutorials of soap, I am a first timer in the world of Soap. What brand and where did you buy your "heat gun", please? I love the color orange. Thanks, Becky
Hi i love your video on packing ideas .. i tried at my home too , but this shrink wrap packing turns out looking unprofessional .. Actually it creates a mess for me packing in shrink wrap , instead can i pack the soap in small zip lock air tight pouch.. please do reply on same .. @soapqueentv what is the difference between cold pressed soap and melt and pour? is it just the way it's made? or is used with different types of soap bases? or a little bit of both? i have always wondered, but i could never find the answer. thanks. :)
I just read a review at Amazon for that book and the person stated that this transparent soap can't be used as a melt and pour base. Can you clear up my confusion, please? She said M & P was a completely different process and that the transparent soap would "make a bubbly mess" when put in the microwave. Is that correct? Would the same hold true if you melted it on the stove-top (in a double boiler, if needed)? Have you made M & P base from the recipes in that book? Thank you. :)
I really love your videos, very well done. Watched almost all of them. The only thing disturbing me is the choice of music. Maybe it was considered joyful but for me is really annoying :( But thanks for videos, very helpful.
can someone answer this question for me...so after its wrapped and given to someone after they use it how long does it last and do you need to put into a soap container?
Hi Ulondra! You can definitely use these wrapping methods for cold process soap! Just make sure to let those soaps cure for 4-6 weeks before wrapping them. The curing process creates a milder bar that lasts longer in the shower. =)
