The fact that she forgave Liz Taylor speaks volumes of the kind of woman she was.

I saw an interview where Debbie said she really had blamed Eddie more than ET. He was best friends with her dead husband and after Mike Todd died they cried on each other's shoulders. ET had just lost the love of her life, was vulnerable and lonely; Eddie carried the consolation too far. That was how Debbie felt (or told herself to feel) so that was why she and Carrie both forgave Elizabeth and Debbie became her friend again/Carrrie considered her a stepmother.

Lucy Cat That doesn't surprise me at all. She may have felt really uncomfortable holding a grudge against Liz Taylor. Debbie Reynolds was an Aries like me. One of the things we don't like, is being put into an uncomfortable situation. That means holding grudges against people. We would rather ask for forgiveness or forgive, and move on than hold a grudge.
That really speaks volumes about the kind of woman she was because in this day and age, an act like that is next to nonexistent.

In later interviews she also admitted that she wasn't she greatest wife to Mr. Fisher. He liked sex - and she didn't. I think that makes the whole circus with Ms.Taylor more believable.

However her health was declining in her final years, if wasn't for the death of Carrie, she would had died in 2018 or 2019 from cardiovascular disease.

She was a trooper, had suffered a massive stroke less then a year before this. When her doctor had put her on some new pain medications for her ongoing back problems, it nearly killed her and caused her kidneys to partially shut down on top of the stroke. But she made a remarkable recovery enough to publicize the book before she had some more major scares shortly after this.

Debbie's elder persona was so strong and recognizable that it was easy to forget her younger persona ...a beautiful all-American wholesome young woman who was dripping with talent. She could sing, dance, be very funny, act in comedy and in dramatic roles, and she was wonderful. A true show business legend. She was loved and adored by fans as well as her peers in the industry. We will miss her, because she was great, but even more because they don't make 'em like Debbie anymore.

It's actually a normal thing. Also don't forget that this family spent a very stressful week by a bed side in intensive care which probably took it's toll on Debbie. After my own father died, my Mum fell ill very suddenly and died 2 months later despite both only being early 70's. Stress, heartbreak etc. can bring on strokes. In my Mum's case it was a brain haemorrage which is another form of stroke.

I grew up in North Hollywood CA not too far from her childhood home in Burbank and didn’t realize it til just recently. I listened to her audiobook recently which gave me a whole new respect for her and her work. I stopped by her childhood home in Burbank the other day which is where she was living when Singing In The Rain was filmed, and couldn’t help to think how sad it is that she’s no longer with us. RIP Debbie 😔💔

I had an appointment on Magnolia in Burbank last year and it was funny when I believe I parked around where her childhood street was. I never been to Burbank but I was a big fan of Debbie Reynolds and I knew she grew up there. It totally made me think about how life was like back in the 40s when she was just a high school kid roaming around. She bicycled to Warner Bros Studios and she went to John Burroughs High which still exists and I believe was featured on the Wonder Years. She definitely left an impression in the area for sure, I think the local theater named a stage after her or something.

When they first interviewed Debbie about appearing in "Singing in the Rain" they correctly reported that she was 19 when she danced in Singing in the Rain. As Debbie got older she would say, "I was only 18 when I was in Singing in the Rain." A few years later she would say, "I was only 17 when I appeared in Singing in the Rain." I almost fell out of my chair laughing when she said, "I was only 16 when I appeared in Singing in the Rain." If Debbie had lived longer, I think she would be saying, "I was only one day old when I danced in Singing in the Rain.",,,,lol.

She was so precious. I could not imagine her doing anything wrong. She said she never found the right man but I will be there was a lot of men pining to get together with this lovely woman. In this interview I could tell she was tired and was looking older. But she gave the world so much pleasure during her lifetime. We all love you Debbie.

To me, Debbie was the best actress, dancer, comedian, and all around GOOD person. She had many "siftings" she had to go thorugh, many trials and hard times but she was always able to come out on top. I don't know how she did it, but she DID. We were all blessed to have her and her movies to enjoy, veey blessed. She was so beautiful too...God really blessed her with great TALENT and a WONDERFUL ATTITUDE FOR LIFE!

Debbie and Liz resumed their friendship in 1964 and remained close friends until Liz died. Debbie was one of the first friends Liz turned to for help with her AIDS foundation, and Debbie was happy to oblige. These two became friends as teenagers, then came the scandal, and after Liz married Burton, she and Debbie reconciled. Debbie often said that Liz actually did her a favor by taking Eddie Fisher "out of my house". The two of them were often together in the last years, and Debbie was a guest at Liz' 75th birthday party, where they allowed the press to take their picture together. Both of the girls were icons. We will not see their like again.
