Debbie never got the recognition she deserved, and in later life far fewer good roles than she deserved. In ‘Mother’ as well as Will & Grace and Behind the Candelabra we can see her talent (and range). I saw her one woman show in London when she was 78. She was hilarious and open and warm and fantastic.

Yes, he does. Especially gracious, too, when it seems he was pushed out and lived “on the fringes” while his mother and sister were so involved in their own relationship.

In the early 80's I met Debbie Reynolds after her show in Vegas. I was awed by her beauty and grace and was acting a bit of the star-struck teenager. (I was 19). I even asked her the stupidest possible question: "What does Carrie REALLY think about being most famous for Princess Leia?" Right after I said it I realized how dumb it was and turned red. But Debbie, bless her, just hugged me and said "You have no idea how much she would love to hear you ask that, she has BECOME Leia and has so much fun with it." She paused and added "I'll tell her a very handsome young man wanted to know." She was gracious, we chatted for a few minutes more and she hugged me again when we were done talking.
Shortly after I started working in the film industry as a technician and met many celebs in person. Most were as kind and gracious as Debbie was. I do regret never getting to meet Carrie in person. I did however meet Billie Lourd in person, she was also a very nice and warm person, and at the time I had no idea Carrie was her mother.
After Carrie died one of the celebs I worked with, who knew her well, told me that if Carrie and I HAD met, it would have been interesting as we shared the same sarcastic and irreverent humor.

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher were beautiful, talented, witty, sharp. But Todd Fisher is a gentleman and a most generous, loyal son and brother. There is not a bit of anger, jealously or feeling badly done to which he might have felt. Todd Fisher you have our deepest condolences and we salute you.

Carrie was one of the kindest people ever, toward people who were not famous... just people that she saw needed a good word. I was one of them. We went to summer camp and were in the same group and she would talk to me although I had no idea who she was. In fact, I did not know until I saw the credits in Star Wars. Wow, I thought. One of the sweetest people I ever met, came to me, an upopular person, said the most kind words. I will never forget her.

God bless your heart with the only real comfort that comes only from Him....I speak from first-hand experience. I watched my mother leave the earth. I watched in absolute unbelief which continued for at least seven years just speaking about the state of shock-who knows about all the other layers. But I do know that the God I believe in is an awesome comforter. And he is real. So I pray your peace heart is filled with the knowledge of the living, loving yet mysterious God who will comfort you even in sorrow. Unfortunately since this is you too I have to put out this disclaimer: any God hating atheist or people that simply just like to be offended the second some Aleve and says “God”, please don’t bother. I will not respond. Can you just let me well with this dear person whose daughter has passed. Thank you. In advance. If you choose to ignore my pleas, I pray your eyes open as well.

Todd Fisher was unbelievably warm, understanding (his mother was obviously very focused on Carrie probably all her life), intelligent and funny - with similar sense of humour and wit that Carrie had as well. It was a pleasure listening to him, what a wonderful being. The whole family seemed a bit crazy and original, but at the same time very loving and warm; rich and famous, but down to Earth. So unique in their world.

@Alita Hargrove I agree that - if that was what was going on - it's not good, but we can't know. He said "Carrie had more needs" and doesn't seem resentful, so maybe the favoritism wasn't as bad as it seems and Debbie made it up to him in some way and/or he had a good relationship with his sister. I hope at least. Either way, he seems lovely.

@Alita Hargrove I'm sure living with Carrie was enough to recognize that she had more issues and needed more attention. When you have a mentally ill person in the family and they get more attention it's not because that person is loved more than any other and the rest of the family usually understands that. There may be phases in life where there MIGHT be some resentment but by that stage in life experience that resentment would be gone. In this case, Debbie seemed like a very loving and positive person who would not have neglected Todd, just focused a little more on Carrie. You can tell that by the fact that Todd seems to be so much like his mother.

A beautiful love story. What an amazing son and brother! Heartbreaking, YES!
!A love story which also included Todd, a modest, poised gentleman who narrated his Mother's and Sister's relationship with such grace.
The world will always have a special place in their hearts for these two amazing women; each owned their incredible legacy. Debbie went home to be with her darling Princess, they were truly imseperable! They say that relationships carry over into the next dimension of life!. Love conquers all.
Two beautiful jems! Blessings to Billie and Todd. The Heaven's are rejoicing! Much love!!!! ❤❤

As this beloved brother and son said "it was beautiful". We all have 'to leave' and what better way than with each other. Carrie besides her acting career was really an intelligent lady. Very, very insightful and amazing writing skills. Both so beautiful as well.

I totally understand what the brother is saying. I had that kind of relationship with my mom. I always dreaded her passing. She is gone but I took it more philosophical than I thought I would. There are undone things that keep me here yet. And she would have wanted that way. My mom is buried near Bette Davis btw and my aunt and uncle are now neighbors with Debbie and Carrie...

A brilliant story of a family of 3 genuine people, in the exciting, but shallow and challenging world of entertainment. Told beautifully, but the interviewers questions were pathetic and over dramatised, with very little substance. But Todd overlooked that, and gave such wonderfully wholesome answers.

Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds were both extremely intelligent and talented in many ways. I have always loved everything Debbie did since I was a little girl and Carrie became a wonderful writer in spite of her addictions and that takes true grit. The comments about looks are so hollow and empty, as Carrie was a lovely women with many talents; and catty remarks are from people who are not very sensitive or do not know how to curb their ignorant criticism. Looks are not everything in life. One's personal traits such as courage, determination to overcome problems are much more important. Cynthia McLaglen
