I cannot put into words how important the music of Nine Inch Nails is to me
This.
i agree!!!
Yes
This comment makes me emotional.
I’m a musician solely because of Trent Reznor. I’ve even gotten to a level that on drums and guitar is technically better. But for the life of me…how does he write so many songs of quality that only true geniuses reach? Writing sings is easy. Writing great songs is sadly beyond me. I’m honoured to have seen NIN four times.
His voice brings back so many good and bad memories. His voice feels like home. So beautiful ❤
My number 1 artist I lived life hearing ThA NiN
Same
I never heard Trent's voice sound so clear and controlled.
Right, when i watched this in the theatre i was in complete disbelief
Check his cover of fantastic voyage
@@levadura7 That sort of comes close, but I don't think it is on a level approaching this tbh.
“And all that could have been” comes to mind but agreed
I don't think there's ever been another singer who's voice emotes so much emotion, while sounding like he's not trying to emote any emotion, more than Trent
I named my firstborn son after Trent back in 1996. The first time I listened to the entire Pretty Hate Machine CD, when I was 15, I was hooked. Trent writes soundtracks for movies, but he has also written and played the soundtrack to my life.
@@TheWizardOfPawsno, it's michael trent reznor. he goes by trent bc his father's name is michael
@@TheWizardOfPaws fun fact, You know nothing...
really gay
I was 13 when PHM came out and I've been hooked since. I completely adore this man because his music and lyrics seem to speak to me on a different level.
Crazy how so true that is. You find a thing, from somebody else and wave it off... and then once they move to something else, you embrace and form your soul by it. What a way to form a shell without somebody striking at it only to realize it was how you felt comfort finding yourself on your own. Its influence and curiousity and wisdom. Not inoctrination cirriculum.
The evolution of Trent Reznor continues to amaze, this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!
he was doing sooky stripped back shit like this on PHM, but then there were melodies and chords and lyrics and stuff, he wasnt hiding behind obscurity and vagueness because hes scared to fail publicly
@@slowfusegrow up man.
@@slowfuse lol wot.
Id say the exact opposite.
That CONVERSELY though he was capable of doing spooky, slow, stripped down shit like this as far back as PHM, he WAS then hiding (still) behind a wall of atmosphere, ambience, noise, melody, chords , instruments, and yes of course, big man with a gun, fist fucking tuff guy lyrics back then too
He's now secure and able to release the essence of his melody without having to hide behind his production (which he does so g'damn dazzlingly well)
But yeah. what the others said lol wut & GROW UP
@@jaysharpESQ Couldn't agree more!
The evolution of Trent is absolutely awesome. You've to think that this is the same man that created The Downward Spiral! It feels great to be part of this community and get to know how Trent has evolved
If you are reading this... Thank you, Trent! :)
Ever listen to the track he did with Tori Amos? It's called Past The Mission. This makes me feel like I did listening to that track & Hurt.
@@Labyrinthine_Complexitiesapparently the mission is the Dartmoor Prison (England) church. Tori Amos lives down that way. Beautiful song too. How is Ed Sheeran or The 1975 better known that Tori Amos or NIN?
When Trent’s voice broke through during the movie, instant chills.
YES
That's what he's paid for and he delivers every time
One of the major reasons Trent's vocals are *so* good, is because he's not a normal frontman. Most singers in rock music expect to be at the forefront of the music. All or most of the time, their vocals parts are similar to when a guitarist plays a solo. It's supposed to be the most important part of the music you're hearing.
Trent's been producing all of the music he's making for decades. He's creating the drum tracks in whatever tool he's using, playing the guitars and keyboards and saxophones and piano and synths [...], he's writing the songs. (He's had many very able people in the studio helping him do this, from Flood to Charlie Clouser to Atticus Ross, but the point is he's intimately involved in all parts of his music).
He's so used to doing unique things with his voice - whispering or quasi-chanting or croaking or creaking or screaming, being breathy or solid in his delivery, having raw vocals or being behind countless layers of production or distortion.
As a result his vocals *complement* the music so well because it's essentially one of his many instruments and means of making an emotional impact. He's never, ever going "look at me! I am such an amazing singer! Listen to this riff and run! I truly am the star of this band!". Instead he's saying, "listen to this song, all of it, the vocals and everything else, and let yourself feel". I mean he's so wiling to de-centre vocals when needed that he has several albums of literally nothing but instrumentals.
That's why nobody else - even when they tried getting other vocalists to record this (this was just supposed to be a rough take!) - could match Trent. He will not over-sing something or try to persuade you he's an amazing singer (he personally doesn't have a high opinion of his own singing!). He just, over decades of practice and experience, knows how to make his voice match a feeling. And that's one of the most powerful things any vocalist can do.
This is so beautifully put
What does Atticus Ross provide to their pairing?
@@phonechecked he does a lot of the work on the production and producing the songs. Often it’s Trent in the recording room messing around with ideas while Atticus is taking them down and then changing parts or sounds to then turn them into the final song! Trent speaks about it quite a lot in interviews
I’m glad I have you though that watched and can answer the question though. I appreciate the time and effort you put into gaining the knowledge and how freely you share it. I have my own UA-cam / podcast expertise. I live for music but can’t dive down rabbit holes long for it. I’m mainly health , fitness, drugs, diet , comedy, and politics focused at the moment.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
This deserves to be considered for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Anyone else shedding a tear?
Lovely work brother. Blessings from Toronto. 🦉
Please never stop making new music.
From teenager to 50 years old
no other singer or song writer has described how I have felt at any particular time in my life so accurately as Trent Reznor. His music and lyrics have helped me navigate through some dark times.
31 years later from when I saw NIN in a small club in Dallas TX, still hauntingly impressive through simplicity, corrupted sounds and that unique voice
I've never heard vibrato in trents voice, this is very nice. Whenever he does a piano piece, its always beautiful. Beautiful song.
Trent has such an underrated singing voice. Genuinely love. 💖💖
when I started watching Bones And All, I had no idea TR&AR did the score. about 30 minutes into the movie, I was like "god damn this music is great, who's the composer?", looked it up and bam. I should have known.
A masterpiece.
Every Nine Inch Nails release is like that feeling you get the night before Christmas as a kid. Every damn song is the best kind of gift. Fan since Halo1!!!!
I THINK YOU ALWAYS HAD A FEELING *instant tears*
Exactly what I needed this morning. Been in so much emotional pain lately and it sounds exactly like this.
I hope you feel at least a little better soon~!
@@hugslove4462 Thank you so much. It feels good to cry sometimes actually. Releasing built up tension :)
@@inheavenandinhell I agree~! It really does feel good to get it out :) take care~!
@@hugslove4462 you too! ❤️✨ I hope all is well for you
@@inheavenandinhell thanks 😊
Very touching
Reznor always does the softer side of his music justice, creates so much emotion especially with the spaces in the song, reminiscing about the first time I heard "Hurt". Thank God for NIN...been into them since the 90's never get boring! The piano has a voice of it's own.
Genius.
I think you always had a feeling
Like you knew it all along
I kept believing I was never meant to be
But maybe I just had it wrong
In a world that isn't ours
In a place we shouldn't be
For a minute
Just a minute
We made it feel like home
For a minute
Just for a minute
You made it feel like home
And I will haunt these hills forever
Without a reason to believe
When I can feel you beating inside of me
I have everything I need
In a world that isn't ours
In a place we shouldn't be
For a minute
Just a minute
We made it feel like home
For a minute
Just for a minute
You made it feel
The versatility of his voice is amazing!!!
Hello, how are you doing?.. it’s nice meeting you here.
Such a beautiful minimalistic masterpiece! The silence is used so well. Can't get tired of this song. It calms me every time I hear it.
From industrial rock to easy listening... we've come full circle.
This is soft but by no means easy. This cuts deep.
Would love to see Trent Reznor contribute to more gaming soundtracks. Love his work and progression and style over the many, many years of listening.
NIN did quake 4 I believe?
I think Mick Gordon + NIN would be sick!
@@arichie5016 nope, only the first quake, also the alpha version of doom 3 :) but none of trent's work got into the full release.
@@Wafel_Ijzer is there an archive of said music?
@@Ohmman there is a mod that replaces the original sounds with trent's sounds if i remember correctly, although im not so sure if he only did the sound design or also the music
It's just... beautiful, touching. Why am I crying? Damn it.
This is the closest thing we will ever get of HTDA.
It is more NIN than HTDA.
Trent and Atticus always make such emotionally heavy duty music together. Beautiful work!!
This song hit me hard.
It’s because we knew what happened to Lee and the fact we went through this hurt and pain, but to know there’s a music video for this, just hits deeper.
I love this song, and I’m gonna be crying now because it’s such a powerful song. 😭❤️
Hello, how are you doing?.. it’s nice meeting you here.
Definitely the most beautiful song by NIN and in the world. Nothing cheesy, just tender, sweet and sincere.
Trent + Piano is my fav
Such a haunting track, thank you for sharing this with us.
It's so beautiful! Thank you a lot for the real music!
Chills all over my body and tears running down my cheeks. I feel blessed 🖤

I will never forget the song Closer that you made in a chic style... 🖤
This is exquisite. Trent’s voice does it for me.

More collaboration with HEALTH would be sick! That last one was an absolute banger
" For a minute, just a minute " Damn!
No one can sing like Trent, his style is unique. I can't imagine anybody else attempting to sing this one for the movie, it wouldn't work.
When this track played in the theater; I can’t describe the chills and emotion for myself. So wonderful to hear that voice again. 🖤
Love all the space in this song

I am doing good, i know you must be surprised to receive a message from me .
Trent Reznor and NIN are simply timeless.
I don't want this minute to end.
Thank you Trent and Atticus for keep making music. You're the guiding light to me. It was the most beautiful moment on the film.
If you stop and think about it, this is one of the only times he has used Nine Inch Nails for a movie soundtrack. It's usually only under Trent Reznor, or Trent and Atticus for a film or television project, which means this must be very special for him...
Trent's voice age like wine
the music of nine inch nails makes me feel like home!
Dude Trent what the hell how you gonna make me cry with a movie I haven't even seen yet you and prince our my goat

I discovered NIN at 13, now i am 43, and still amaze by Trent Reznor work.
If i have to describe him in one word: Emotions
i went to the cinema 52 times last year, once a week on average. The moment this song came on during Bones and All was the highlight of all of those trips combined.
Beautiful song
His voice makes all those little cracks in my heart close❤I love what his music does to me
I waited two years for this
Worth it.
Who was chopping onions while I was watching this? All the feelings felt during this song. I can’t wait to watch the film.
ok, this is totally unexpected and beautiful
Trent is definitely a major influence of mine. Brilliant
Beautiful. Such emotion in such few words

You are meant to be!
Trent your voice feels like home for me,a link to my childhood. Thank you for everything that you have had the courage to put out in this world. I'm 45 and I've been a fan since jr. High and will be for life. ✌️🖐️
Love NIN🧡 It enough...
To me this sounds like a typical movie soundtrack song and yet it's unique in its emotive chord progressions and melody lines. Good stuff, gonna see this movie.
Such a beautiful song and sung by a very underated singer !
one of the best movies of 2022, beautiful and heartbreaking.
I didn't like it. It felt like Twilight for the Gen Xers.
I have no words....
Awesome. The silenced parts in this song. Surprised by the appearance in the movie. Didn't expect that.
Thank you for being here with us, this world needs to be healed...xxoo
we want this on vinyl!
Ive experienced some heart break recently and I'm baffled at the amount of clam I've gained from just listening to trent reznors music... This one hits kinda hard' 🔥🌷
What a delicate, vulnerable, profoundly beautiful little flower this song is!
this song will last FOREVER.xx ♾❤
Trent's voice is getting better the more he ages! What a condensate of emotion!
dear mr reznor once again you have made me feel helpless and alone!yet when the piece ends i realize i have love, friendship and hope, your my mate i never met face to face but anyone lucky enough to have a heart has been touched by you, once again im in pieces and reassembled all at the same time ,as a fan i love you.
Trent, Michael, perfectly spoken my friend. I cry at the lyrics of a love lost years ago. She loved your music as much as me. 2018, April 21st, wish I could hold her again. A very beautiful song Trent, the pain you can dredge up is astounding but so is the strength. Michael Trent Reznor meet Michael Ryan Clark brother.

What an astonishing use of silence, only someone capable to use noise for the industrial metal music could do that, you blow my mind again, thank you.
I'm imaging 20,000 enthralled NIN fans singing this chorus in a giant arena. I really hope that happens and I'm in the crowd. x
I love Trent's vocals. I want to listen to more songs with vocals.
Soul deep and perfection combined into the most beautiful art ever made.
Absolutely stunned. It's like a soulful Fragile song we never heard.
