Gojira at the Olympics, Opeth is growling again, metal being called offensive and satanic? Oh ya, we are so back
If only thrash metal was popular...
That new Opeth song made me spit Pepsi all over my screen when the growls came in.
We have literally never been as back as we are right now.
Now all we need is a new tipper gore clone.
old school metal ftw
What is this...satanic panic?! xD I didn't know we were back in the 90s...lol
I can't wait for Cannibal Corpse to release an apology video, and the apology video is just them performing "I C*m Blood" on ukuleles in their living rooms.
BRO NOT THE UKULELES
I want the Cannibal Corpse ukulele apology video so much. You just know that would slap.

Haha.
Hopefully with a basketball American acting as security, who nopes out almost immediately.

Fun little story here.
Alex Webster, bass player and main lyricist for cannibal corpse, is also one of the nicest guys from a metal band i ever met. He literally came out into the crowd after a concert to bs and sign autographs with the fans wiyhout a care in the world. Telling jokes and laughing with everyone, very wholesome moment ❤
Me and my friend have a selfie with Sean Beasley of Dying Fetus, amazing guy too!
This actually describes a lot of metal musicians. At fests it's like they are on stage and next thing you know - they are in the crowd enjoying the next show and signing stuff. I was once standing outside the club and talking to friends and some other people discussing Arch Enemy or something, we discuss other things and everyone laughs. Suddenly some guy comes up and pulls one guy aside and tells him: "Come on... Duty calls." He gets pulled up on the stage and turns out he's a vocalist for some foreign band that opens for Arch Enemy.
You hang around longer and people from the band just start mingling. Especially the bands that play both bigger stages and smaller venues as well.
And Alex is such an underrated bass player in metal as a whole
I was going to say the same. All the guys from CC are incredibly nice people. I've seen them a half-dozen times over the years, and have talked to them all at one time or another.
Good. Metal scares people again
We just went full circle here, humans never learn
Hell yeah 🔥🔥🔥

Not good because normies can't get into it now lol
@@danteshollowedgroundsfuck the normies death metals not suppose to be for normies
Corpsegrinder dispite his name, is one of the sweetest people on the planet.
Literally took the words out of my mouth. The dude loves going to local arcades when he's in a town to gig; he's also really humble in interviews
He donates all the plushies and stuffed animals he wins from claw games to charities and toy drives. You simply cannot hate him.
The video of him shopping at target is just so wholesome, and he’s by all accounts a great family man and father
I feel like that's true of most metalheads--we may look scary, but the vast majority of us are big-hearted nerds.
George Fisher didn't join CC until 1995. George doesn't even write lyrics for their newer stuff let alone for a song 3 years before he joined the band. Leave my guy out of it. Based pfp btw
As a gen z this shit is hilarious especially when they are going after george even though the song they are mad about was made by barnes. Surface level reserch lead to Surface level takes.
As someone who is also gen z, these dudes would have a heart attack if they discovered goregrind, grindcore, and pornogrind lmao. Sadly the phrase "don't like don't read" is not common anymore nowadays
@HappyWeirdo19 god imagine showing them fgr from cattle decap. Even though it's a pro trans song they would still try to get it eradicated from the internet.
I don't even think they're real. There have been a lot of troll accounts across everything from Metal to Warhammer trying to sow animosity through fake controversy. Wish I could remember the video that looked into it, but basically some guy traced a bunch of people's activity and found that people had been doing everything from trying to convince people to be trans while being anti trans to trying to shut down bands for the lulz. Some people are weird and get a kick out of social manipulation I guess..
lol, imagine getting offended by a band whose lyrics are unintelligible for the most part, so you actually have to go out of your way to read them just to get mad.
like old ladies getting upset over "naughty" words in the dictionary they were specifically looking up :D
😂 This has got to be fake. I find it hard to believe that people who don't like death metal are going out of their way to read the lyrics. I've seen tons of death metal bands live. I can barely make out a word. I have no idea what they're saying. Most of the time I can't even understand them when they talk in between songs. 😂
@@nicholasrella6904 Make them supper !!
Their pretty intelligible to me but that's probably because i listen to a lot of goregrind bands
@@nicholasrella6904 I do, just because I love lyrics in songs and want to see what they mean, not to mention I plan on becoming a metal lyricist/singer at some point. I don't know how people can look at a band like Cannibal Corpse and not expect some insanely raunchy, violent, offensive nonsense. That's the whole band's point. lol
What would cancelling Cannibal Corpse even entail? It's not like they have a fuckin' Coca-Cola sponsorship.
if not it's gonna be far better for their rep.
that's how i like my death metal, offensive and scary
Basically what it meant for Marilyn Manson and the state of Texas for a couple decades...they just wouldn't be allowed to book any shows. They'd be blacklisted...and have to convert to Black Metal.(that last part might have been a joke, I'm not sure)

We metal heads were canceled since the 80s, we didn’t care since the 80s either. Cancel away.
Death metal is the equivelant of B horror movies. Just fun gore.
Exactly. Sadly, some people will never understand that.
some of it is but other bands do try to push the level of perversion and extremity to levels that are beyond any movie you ever see, even the most notoriously messed up movies that became famous for being messed up. i don't really personally care about lyrics but they do that, cannibal corpse especially the barnes era, are the most famous example.
@@nizz0matic307 yeah and my thing too is I don't really like books, music, or media in general being restricted or banned as long as the people making the more perverse things are not actually into them or want that stuff to happen in reality. Some of them are which is disgusting, but it's far and few between. With film it can be a little different, I think it's fine if it's about those perverse things, but you don't want a film that is straight up fake gore p*rn or something of the nature because then that just allows gross individuals to get off to it.
I was thinking the same think. Especialy cannibal corpes, it's so gruesome it's comical and you're not supposed to take it that seriously.
If you think all death metal have goory lyrics and themes you havent even scratched the surface.
It's funny how normies find death metal lyrics disturbing, yet they will gladly watch a horror movie with the exact same premise and be like "yeah, it was a good movie".

Yeah, "She was Asking for It" has been a target since it came out.
In the early days it was intentionally trying to be shocking and overly provocative to get a rise out of people. I would say it mellowed out more after Barnes left. Still gross and violent, but the Barnes era was just a different level of demented lol. The assumption was that people would have just figured out their whole schtick by now and moved on

As a Gen Z er I’m sorry the modern world has stooped this low & main reason for these people “cancelling” is because they haven’t faced hardships in their lives. If they did they would understand the significance of darkness. Atleast I’m a 2000’s kid who still had some exposure to mature art & media 🤘🏻
There was also people complaining over Made in the Abyss which had similar things to what Berserk did 30 years before it, and yet people being surprised and trying to cancel people over that too

That's exactly what I'm saying. I swear, half of the people saying that Gen Z is canceling death metal don't even know what canceling even means. Hell, I can hardly remember the last time anyone has genuinely been canceled post-quarantine, let alone a band. A couple of people finding Cannibal Corpse lyrics gross is not an entire generation trying to deplatform them.

People have been getting canceled this whole time, either your memory is bad or you're just not seeing it happen.
@@oxydoxxo Nobody gets "cancelled" by random zoomers on Twitter like this. The only way to get cancelled is if the core audience generally agrees that the situation is worth being cancelled over, or being convicted of actual crimes. In situations like this, nothing happens. It's just not a thing.
Lame attempt to rehash the "Satanic panic" of the 1980s.
Music is entertainment the same way movies and videogames are, so why is a gory horror movie/videogame ok but not death metal lyrics? It's not real, it's just there for building tension and atmosphere, why is that such a hard concept to understand for some.
Bro nailed it
in cannibal corpse's case, it's not for building tension and atmosphere, it's slasher movie type intentionally silly edge. don't take their lyrics seriously or you start to lend credibility to their detractors
@@blitzn00dle50 Yeah I know, Infant Anihilator got the same kind of idea of "edge for the sake of edge", these type of lyrics are definitely not meant to be taken seriously, but their purpose IS to make your heart beat faster, so that's what I meant by "tension", I just couldn't think of a more generic word for what metal in general (more often than not) is all about.
@@blitzn00dle50 ... nevermind, I just now thought of a better word than tension or atmosphere, it's "mood", the outrageous lyrics in CC's case are, like you said, for the sake of creating a sort of "slasher movie" mood.
Now that I think about it, that's what all music usually is... a "mood setter" sort of... so I really don't get why people are so weirded out about metal.
Because people on social media like to make a fuss about something random that doesn't in the slightest impact them to feel special

@@Coastfog literally no gatekeeping here. If anything, Nik is the closest thing to a gatekeeper as he (wrongly) thinks any metal that isn't generic ass metalcore is grandpa music.
I just like the fact that when I was attending college Cannibal Corpse helped me ACE ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY AND MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY 😂
Carcass could have helped too.
Lol I'll be starting med school soon and I'll try this stuff.
Nik: “Gen z’s ruining everything”
Me who’s a gen z metalhead: ☹️

Blame the younger 2005-2010 Gen Z's, they're the Tiktok generation.
@@Tonicshades yes. We 1995-2004 GenZs at least are the CoreKids 😂
@@mettrose We grew up outside, we had an actual childhood. These new Gen Z's are weirdos dancing and talking to themselves to a phone camera all day.
@@Tonicshades absolutely true. 90% of them are frigging snowflakes dying on a festival cause their Smartphonebattery has gone empty
And yet again, people are using the word cancel to describe a situation where literally just a few nobodies on twitter are voicing their opinion/preferences and not trying to smear or deplatform anything
my ass cancelled, they will never even get close to cancelling Death Metal
If I ever get married I want Cannibal Corpse as the wiedding band.
play blunt force castration
This is a fun little song……ABOUT SHOOTING BLOOD OUT MY DIIIIICK!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂 what an amazing wedding that would be... xD
brides look best in black.
George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher and Alex Terrible are two of the nicest dudes in the metal scene right now. Both of them have a brutal vocal style and are just soft, lovable teddy bears with a big heart. And they really care about their fans. And bonus points for Fisher being a massive fan of video games, mostly World of Warcraft.
For the Horde!
@@Plaguecradle Fuck the Alliance!
I was going to mention Alex Terrible!
Blizzard already removed the Corpsegrinder easter egg, after an old interview of him resurfaced where calling nightelf players fags lol
All the nicest ppl have not see tattoos…
Imagine if these people read Infant Annihilator lyrics
Hell not even I read their lyrics 😭
But you can understand CC lyrics by ear. They are pretty articulate and clear
They are so clear I can hear Cookie Monster munch and crunch cookies
for the most part in the barnes era i couldn’t understand much unless i read the lyrics
Barnes Era not so much but Corpsegrinder era you can hear better
Barnes cannibal corpse no corpsegrinder yeah
Funny thing is, at a festival from a distance when you only hear the basic song structure, the songs do indeed all sound the same
Corpsegrinder is like one of the most wholesome people on the planet
This guy was the singer in "Monstrosity" back in the 90's. I heard their song on BBC radio 1 John Peel show, and still have the CD of that album.
Wait till these people find out about GG Allen
They tried this back in the day, didn't work then, won't work now. He's also one of the nicest metal guys ever, contributing to Toys for Tots and other things. Like on tour he goes and plays claw games and donates the toys...
Thank you for covering this breaking news Nik! I just laughed my ass off for 8 mins straight🤣🤣
Metal triggering religious zealots and normies is a sign the genre is doing what it’s supposed to.
💯
Even woke activists.
@@EricTD1995 Please explain what you mean by "woke".
Whoever got mad over someone getting upset over necropdfile needs to shut the hell up lmao It's supposed to be a sickening and a shocking song. It's mission accomplished that it gets people riled up, let people be upset over deliberately upsetting things lol
Love your channel just found it. Subscribed
I was about to comment about them discovering *infant annihilator* and getting traumatized, but there is so much people in the comments mentioned that already lol
fellow infant annihilator enjoyers 🥂
The best video on UA-cam is the British guy playing the lounge version of Rancid Amputation
There is a ukulele version of Evidence In The Oven
He’s not English; he’s Australian.
I seen their vinyl record "Butchered at Birth" at this flea mall consignment store (The Foundry, in Jacksonville NC if you want it) and thinking to myself how dark the Art and Title is. I had the CD in High School(over 20 years ago), but now I'm a dad and family man and not that edgy teenager. I was just like damn...and almost bought it thinking it would go away.
Allow me to get on my soapbox for a minute.
Back in my day politicians, both left and right, used to try and cancel metal, shock rock and hop hop groups. Geraldo Rivera, riding the wave of the original satanic panic into the 90s said "if you listen to White Zombie you will become a criminal and a drug addict."
Legendary actor and former NRA spokesperson Charlton Heston spent alot of time and money trying to cancel Ice T's Body Count in 1992 before there was even a name for what he was doing.
Many senators tried to get labels to drop Cannibal Corpse the first time around and senator Joseph Lieberman (D, Connecticut) spent years trying to get Marilyn Manson cancelled and dropped from Interscope Records as he blamed Columbine on him.
Senators also tried to get Eminem dropped from his label for saying "faggot" and having songs about murder.
Now, fast forward to 2024 and leftist generation Z clowns are trying to cancel Cannibal Corpse for lyrics from 10 years before they were even born as if it's something new and noble.
I recall the Body Count drama. Cop Killer was the song. That was at the peak of homicides in most major cities (which plummeted in the coming years). Music provides an outlet that is ultimately peaceful IF the lyrics aren't taken to heart (speaking to rap here as CC's lyrics are so ridiculous it's obviously just gore fantasy and bored white boys are not going to do anything so heinous). Body Count just released a new song called 'F what you heard'. Literally speaking truth in that. LOL
I think there's a very distinctive cultural difference between the "cancelling" of then and the "cancelling" of now. Take for instance Christian groups protesting Marilyn Manson shows, along with some of the other examples you gave, what was the outcome? It only made the bands popularity grow.
Now back to present-day, what happened to the popularity of Ted Nugent, Morrissey, Eric Clapton, etc? They became like social lepers... And because of their personal opinions, mind you, not their work.
I wouldn't label the generation Z 'clowns' as being a particular economic ideology (left or right wing). However, they are anti-violence (pro-peace), which makes you think they are 'left-wing'. Do they have certain social beliefs? Religious, etc.
@@JoelER78 It's not right wingers crying out to end free speech these days.
Liberalism is a disease
A wise man once said “If you don’t like something, IGNORE IT!!”
Another wise man once said, "with great power, comes great big booty bitches."
god ignores us aha
Anytime somebody on Twitter opens their mouth, I immediately disregard their opinion
Wait until these people find out about Mayhem and Norwegian Black Metal
My Nordic people just might give them a valid reason to be canceled without them needing to check the discography rofl and I can’t wait to see them try
Or Absurd and NSBM
@@Metal_junk god no, don't give that shit publicity
Yeah I remember hearing about a black metal band that the singer or something killed the band idk it’s from my memory😂
@@gotomychanneltoseemyname That sounds like Mayhem 😅Dead was their frontman for a time and suffered from severe mental illness and unfortunately culminated in him taking his own life in 1991, which their founding guitarist Euronymous took photos of upon discovering the body. Soon afterwards, Varg Vikernes joined as bassist who went on to murder Euronymous in 1994, which followed their series of church burnings in 1993, both of which Varg was convicted of and sentenced to the maximum possible sentence in Norway soon after.
This reminds of the time when I was 16 and got my first Cannibal Corpse shirt. It was brvtal and I was so proud wearing it. Being a rebellious teen, I couldn't wait getting into discussions with "normies". But it never happened. People either don't read t-shirts or they just don't care. If people really start complaining now, then we're going in the wrong direction 😅
lol, its crazy how real this is.
Fr I was wearing slipknot and icp tees at 13 😅😭
Finally, Stranger Things kiddies are getting weeded out of the community I was *born into.* My dad was the main songwriter and lead guitarist in a death metal band since I was around 2-3 up until I was 15-16. I'm 20 now and rerecording his old songs solo + working on new, original material with his help.
This shit is in my blood and I've been so sick and tired of these tourists acting like they're really a part of the metal community because they listen to Ghost or Sleep Token.
