Awesome video. I use both quite often. Both are really good. Personally I like the Spider Wire a little bit more. The SW feels a little smoother and is more forgiving on the fingers than J-Braid.

You're exactly right.. SW is easier on the ol hands and is definitely softer. I've never broken either brands on a fish.. Power pro and beyond Braid testing coming today!

I like the way you are testing. I use the J braid and it has never broken on a fish or a snag. The leader has but not the J braid 8x.

I have been using Stealth braid for years. Use to be great when it was Teflon infused. I swear I had a reel spooled with some 20lb that lasted around 12 years. Stuff never broke never frayed, and held it's color much longer than the newer version. Now I get break offs all the time. It constantly digs in on itself, and has really become a liability, and I have really lost confidence in fishing with it. Unfortunately I have a ton of the stuff to go through before trying too many other lines. I have been using Suffix 832 on a couple of rods, and so far I like that stuff. But, it is a sinking braid, and more expensive. But, if I can stop losing lures it would be worth it.

Mark, I totally agree.. We have changed around many times on what is our personal favorites... At this time it is spiderwire Stealth and Daiwa J-8. If you haven't tried Spiderwire Stealth yet, I would recommend giving that a try. You won't have break offs, and be sure to wet pack when spooling up to prevent digging... There's a new video coming out, I will be posting it for sure today - SpiderWire Stealth VS Beyond Braid. Be sure to check it out! Thanks for watching, Fish on!

You need to test it with whatever knot you are using to mirror your application. 40lb 4 carrier j braid breaks at the knot at about 30lbs. What does it matter the break strength without a knot if you will always be using it with a knot? Would love the see some test with knots.

That's not real data. That brings in a large margin of human error. Are we testing line strength? Or are we testing these two guy's ability to tie knots consistently? to a degree which is inmeasurable.

I personally use both braids when my budget allows but most days I use beyond braid. Very good for the money. I plan to try the souyaliang braid at some point.

Dave, Sougyilang Braid is VERY good. See the break test here if you haven't seen it.. ua-cam.com/video/Gqi-jS5jUr4/v-deo.html

@@bottomfishing24-7 oh I've seen it!! It's exactly why I wanna give it a go. I'm always trying to find effective ways to save money. Why pay name brand prices if the off brands perform just as good. 1-2 lbs of break strength doesn't mean much to me if it costs 5x as much.

@@rocknut88ompletely agree! I don't know if any of the big brands can compete with sougayilang.. We'll find out! Also, the Beyond Braid brand, whatever that hype is all about, will be tested today along with power pro. Thanks for watching, fish on!

Some good results that both lines can handle well above their lable.
I knoticed the diameter and it influences my choice a lot when i buy line. I often go for the thinnest as it will be affected by current. The daiwa jbraid grand is their premium product at 0.28mm 30lb which is a little thick. I use shimano grappler its way thinner a 0.28mm is 73.6lb which is inscane. My 30lb is 0.19mm its only slightly thicker than a normal 15lb braid. You are almost double the thickness and half the braking strain. For my country the price is the same for jbraid grand and shimano grappler braid. Neither is not budget choice by any means but for that tinny diameter its worth it.

@bottomfishing24-7 the only reason to use braid is because it casts further and is way thinner so it's less affected by current and less streach. My area I fish a lot of 14m deep water or less and the current isn't very strong so braid doesn't have much of a advantage in this situation. When I do go deep up to 80m (262ft) is when braid really shines. You can use a lighter sinker/ lure, fish more vertical because your less affected by current and less bow in your line.

I swear by Spiderwire Stealth moss green. I’ve used all different brands. I always go back to SW.
