- Elecraft has carved out a substantial, and very loyal, niche in the ham radio market over the past 3 decades. Their focus on superior performance, portability and high-touch customer service has earned them a place in many an amateur radio operator’s shack, and heart. Eric Swartz, WA6HHQ, who co-founded Elecraft with Wayne Burdick, N6KR, joined me for this conversation about their early days in business, the development of the K2 and it’s evolution to the K4D and Elecraft’s commitment to the remote market. Join me for what is sure to be Part I in a continuing conversation with Elecraft.
Very interesting to hear about Elecraft's history and business model. I've been saving for a K4. I'm a 100% QRP and QRPp operator so I have some high expectations for the K4
Thank you for putting this together
A great interview,
I'm a big time Elecraft fan, watching this whilst winding down from CQ-WPX-SSB 2024 with my Elecraft K-Line.
Elecraft could learn a thing or two about delivering new products (on time and from stock) from the Japanese manufactures, in turn the Japanese companies could learn a lot about customer service and support from Elecraft. I am a proud owner of the K4D and really enjoying the support from Elecraft and the incredible owner community.
Excellent interview, thank you
Thanks for watching, Billy!
Great interview. Asked all the right questions and I appreciate you.
Thanks for listening
I love my KX2 and the AX1 antenna, such a great rig. 72 de AI5DD
I love my Elecraft. Great interview Kevin. Getting excited for what's to come!
Elecraft fan boy for over 15 years. K4D with KPA1500 is unsurpassed.
Excellent interview…thanks for this…. I’ve always wondered what in the world possessed the founders to embark on this journey… appreciate the insight!
Thank you, Rush. Good to see that you're enjoying your KX3 (QRZ page)!
Very nice interview. Thank you.
Great interview, thank you
Thanks for watching!
looking forward the kh1 interview!
Same!
Enjoyed this episode during a break from CQWPX using my K4D and having a blast.
Thanks for taking time to watch during the WPX, Ady!
Great equipment....just can't afford it.
KX2 and KX 3 need to be more waterproof. The russian Discovery with mil spec type connectors should be an inspiration. Too many openings on the KX series
Love their products, I have the K4D, KAT500, KPA500 and KX2, but their manuals are world class bad.
Ham radio manuals in general? I loved the manual (manufacturer not to be named) that started off with (and I paraphrase) "if you're a ham, you shouldn't need to ask." Haha. Was clearly going to be a rough go for me!
