  • The Contest Crew reminds us that the contest isn't over when the last QSO is logged. As the holders of the US #1 and #2 positions in the CQ WPX CW, Randy K5ZD, Dan N6MJ, and Bill W9KKN could be relaxing and enjoying their success. Instead, they are busy reviewing data from the Reverse Beacon Network (RBN), analyzing the Raw Scores and associated public logs, and drawing lessons from the Contest Online Scoreboard. In this episode, the Contest Crew guides us through their data analysis process, how it might influence future contest strategies, and the improvements they are considering for their stations before the next big event. Thank you for joining us and subscribing to the channel. 73, Kevin W1DED

This is really helpful! As a young contester, I also revisit my logs once the LCR is sent to look for trends in my errors. After contests, I like to check if there's a pattern in the mistakes I make, such as specific letters, numbers, accents, or times of day where I tend to make the most errors on. Thus for the next contest, I pay special attention to those. It's all about getting better

Great job Kevin and the crew. Can’t help wondering why you feature a picture of a power pole on the wall. What’s up with that? Ken N4KS

Good question, Ken. The painting is by a well known Maine artist (I'm in the art business), was gifted to me by a friend, and has been a reminder of the inherent difficulty of interpersonal communication with wires crossing, some added over time, and the underlying possibility of noise that can make understanding all but impossible. And, it was the right size from the spot! 73, KT

WOW! mind blown on the study of the analytics, and the amount of information that's available to be studied. Really impressed by the information sharing as well, Class acts. I like the idea of helping each other be the best they can be so that when they do duke it out, you know you are beating the best, at their best. Chess not checkers being played here.

Glad you liked it! We'll likely do more screen share videos in the future if that is helpful to viewers. Thoughts?

@@w1dedworldwidehamradio The screen sharing was informative, interesting, and a great teaching tool. As someone who is just learning about contesting, and no contesters in the area to learn from. Watching the programs being used, how to extract useful information from them, and then learning how guys who compete at that level use that information to improve is knowledge unobtainable otherwise.
