After moving into a new home with their aunt, two kids find an old board game in the attic called Jumanji. When they begin to play, the release Alan (Robin Williams), who has been trapped in the game for 26 years. Together, they must survive the dangers released by the game in order to finally finish it.
It’s funny how you never realize the authenticity in movies you loved as a child. As kids, we saw Alan running away from Van Pelt because he was being hunted. But as adults, we see a man running away from his biggest fear. A great life lesson this movie teaches is to always face what you’re afraid of because if you don’t, it’ll hold you back from growing as a person. Alan’s biggest fear was his father’s displeasure and criticism. Alan’s father always told him to face his fears because he was being bullied. One thing to note is that the Jumanji game draws its characters from the minds of the players. Van Pelt took the place of Alan’s father, which also explains why they’re both played by the same actor (Jonathan Hyde). You also gotta know that Alan was in the jungle for 26 years and was being hunted every day by Van Pelt which is symbolic of him running away from his father but in another reality. We also see Alan explain to Sarah that Van Pelt sees everything about Alan as being offensive which is symbolic to how his father felt after he found out (in his mind) Alan ran away. It’s only up until Alan finally decides he’s had enough of running that he decides to face his fears.
Another attention to detail is while Alan is telling Van Pelt that he’s not afraid, the dice keeps rolling which signifies that Alan’s fate rested upon his choice to either face his fears or keep running. He was given a second chance to make things right. The dice only stops when Alan acknowledges his father’s teachings which shows that he’s fully matured from his mistakes. The writing is picture perfect because it sends a great message about facing your fears.
I never ran away... I always stood up against everything. waht does that make me? and why am I not successful?
@@the8bithesher433 Successful is subjective, its all about perspektive. Successful is what it mean achieve something. Maybe you not achieve your big goal yet, but try to see your achievement on small thing. Be good and helping other as example successful for today. Start from small thing first, then you Will more appreciate and grateful for what you have achieve
He wouldn't be bullied if he stopped being friends with Sarah.
The one thing kind of lost in this was how much Alan's father really loved him. He lost his fortune and eventually his life searching for his son.
And then spent his time in Jumanji trying to teach his son how to be a man...
Yeap, work as a butler for the Rich Family 😁
It partially looked like he regret yelling at Alan like that
Sure they had an argument but I felt he should’ve been a little considerate
Even as a child, this scene made me realize Judy was the MVP of this movie. She carried everyone on her back and died trying to protect them...
Judy didn’t die.
@jeliop1 she does but after alan wons jumaji, the game rewinds up everything that happens before he and sarah started to play in 1969.
@@jeliop1 The barbs were poisonous. She absolutely did.
@ Her heart stopped but she didn’t die. She was shown later alive.
@@katsasgeorgepretty sure she was just passed out. This was a kids movie after all.
Besides, if she was dead, wouldn’t Peter have shown more emotion than mild concern?
Rest In Peace Robin Williams the one of greatest comedians and actors in history.
Yes, it's been a decade now, yet still hurts that he took his own life😭
@@AndrewChapmanThe man had degenerative brain disease. Instead of whithering away he decided to go on his own terms. I don't approve stuff like this on any shape and form but I can totally understand why he chose to go out this way. Still miss him as much as I miss my own old man.
@@purple_1884Still hurts either way.

The most powerful aspect of The Jumanji game board is it can apparently reset time, something I didn't fully grasp as a kid. Alan better put all of his money into Microsoft
I mean obviously he did well for himself in some way, as at the end of the movie he now owns the entire damn shoe factory and has like 100 people at his Christmas party.
Reset time it did, but whatever changed within the time travel remain. Alan did say he felt like the five minutes his father got out and returned seemed like a long time, and learned some lessons in that long five minutes. Kinda like how Marty almost banged his mum when he travelled to the past, and now we remember Marty as "that guy who almost banged his mum"...
1:04 That look of dawning realization is priceless!!
The Fourth Wall break.

R.I.P. Robin Williams (1951-2014) and James Horner (1953-2015)

Alan was given a second chance. To make everything right. And he did. And got the happy ending he deserved.
It's Just sad that Robin Williams never got the Happy ending he deserved! RIP Robin Williams
Still the best Jumanji. 💕🇿🇦
the One and only Jumanji movie
the rest of Dwayne Johnson movies are just awful....
Sounds like whatever you two are on is giving you a horrible high. There is no other jumanji movies and they certainly don't have the rock in it of all people.
No the new ones are. This was crap.
@@stephencrewes5773 new one is bad😂
@VITAS874 No it's not. The original is. With seriously bad CGI.
When he hugs his dad 😢
I love how for Van Pelt his experience of being sucked into the board game was way more traumatic than for Alan
Every single New Year’s ball drop: JUMANJI!
I’ve done that look that Peter does when he’s like “really?” and looks at the camera ever since I saw this movie way back in the day.
That always stuck with me as well.
We've seen eldritch abominations as monsters, as planets, as viruses or metaphors for madness.
I don't think I've ever seen one disguised as a board game or in the case of the series, an entire plane of reality.
Also, say what you will about Jumanji, it's true to its word. It took back every consequence that its gameplay brought to the world. The entire town went to ruin because Parish lost his son. All of the town's history got affected by Alan getting sucked into the game so Jumanji rectified that.
I see Jumanji like some sort of portal to hell, where the things can come out and go in, and everything in there wants to kill the player
One of the greatest comedians who graced the Earth. May he rest in peace
I never noticed Van Pelt has a gold tooth. That's a nice touch
This movie was ahead of its time. Bravo
Makes me tear up as an adult.
i loved this movie as a kid and i still love it till this day and time
You must be like 10 years old to say that................... Your still a kid............M BABY SHIT PANTS..................... GET REAL....M LOOK AT UR PFP TOO LMFAOOOOO...... WATCH MORE MOVIES.........
YOU CAN DO BETTER.......... GOD BLESS......
Time travel into Oro valley place in Tucson Arizona AZ feel like
It's a great movie and in the next one they had a link to this movie show up
At least the game is a good sport. You go through hell but if you win you'll get a fresh start.
This brings back great childhood memories.
the one & ONLY Jumanji movie, without Robin Williams it's not Jumanji.
One of my all time 😎 favorite movies ❤ rip.legend Robbin Williams 🙏thank you 🤝
Remember robbin Williams mrok and madey TV show on CBS channel interview review history books documentary about biography book club fun more information ℹ️
The mid/later 90s had great movies.
That how you defeat Van Pelt,
Facing your fears.
(& being one lucky bastard with the dice)
5:06 (Gasps) Alan, you won. :)
Fitting how it ends where it began
For Judy and Peter it was the attic in 1995
For Alan and Sarah it was the living room in 1969
Fun fact: Van Pelt and Allen’s Dad were played by the same person Jonathan Hyde.
Jonathan Hyde
Damn I never really appreciated the practical effects before. We have the spiders, Peter's monkey makeup, the poisonous flower, the lion and a moving set all in one scene and it all feels natural.
1:26, trying to get some sleep in here!
When Peter broke the fourth wall lol. Deadpool vibes
Breaking the fourth wall vibes.
My favorite movie of all time!
Lion be like: Sup?
"Don't bother me, lady. I'm trying to relax here."
:D
Van Pelt and Samuel Parrish are the same person
Allan's worst fear
Think about It...
Jumanji IS not only a game... IS the Game that make you feel like a creature...
Same actor, different character. It’s similar to how the same actor plays James Darling and Captain James Hook in Peter Pan musicals. Part of the theme of how the character is afraid of their father’s disapproval.
The scary part is that if Alan didn’t win it would’ve been truly over since he and Judy would’ve Been dead
For the final moment of Van Pelt, He learned that he was actually a true father
THE TEEN WOLF LOOK ON THE BOY DOPE 💯💪
When you realize that the only players were Alan and Sarah. Everyone else were pieces in the game. That is why only they remember what happens in the game.
Maybe if kids win they would return too like that.
@@VITAS874 nah, they would dissapear since the game began before they were born
Love this movie!
Just realised. The last words he said to his father, while covered in wounds, was that he will never talk to him again. Damn, luckily we got the good ending.
they keep making it shorter. How can I like it when it's shorter? Definitely a classic.
Jumanji is a existential horror film when you think about it
A thousand times better than anything the rock did.
I’ve often thought when I see Jumanji clips that it actually wouldn’t be a terrible game to play if you went in knowing exactly what would happen.
The initial terror is realizing that everything comes to life. If you knew that to start with, the vibe would be completely different. Am I crazy for thinking that? 😂
Y'all think enough time has past for the pith hat, high britches, and cape to come back into style? Van Pelt had the sickest look.
I wonder sometimes if the game is like the Rick and Morty Fear Hole, or something that preys on fear and those with insecurities.
Fear of the future, fear of responsibility, fear of isolation, fear of social excommunication…
By the end of it the game beats those fears out of you. Gives you back everything you lost, and leaves you stronger.
Assuming, of course, that you survive.
God imagine having to relive ur childhood. Worst nightmare of all
He gets to live it as a rich kid this time not in the jungle, running for his life everyday. I'd take that.
Strongly depends on the childhood.
reliving your childhood is having a second chance- avoid all the mistakes you made
Reliving it but knowing more now than you knew then.
Anybody ever notice van pelt was his father ? Well played by same actor , also think it had some ties , specially the end with finally becoming a man . His dad preached that at the start of the movie
I just realised that his father is the hunter aswell.
Van Pelt is a legal relative of the Parrish family.
To be fair, Van Pelt purchased that weapon and the bullets from the real world. They did not came from the game. Neither the gun nor the bullet that was going straight for their heads should not have been disappeared. But I guess getting headshoted right before the game resets the timeline could have been a bit dramatic as an experience for the audience lol.
To be fair, the rest of the time that got reset wasn’t from the game either so it seems like any effects of Jumanji disappear as well.
with money that the game magically provided him
In jumanji, Alan won the game, and in Zathura, Danny won the game
I do have jumunji at home.
I want this Great Board game
I have to wonder with Van Pelt's new rifle disappearing: Is it being sucked into the game WITH him or is it being erased from time while HE is sucked back into the game? We see it being pulled in the same direction he and all the other dangers are, but it as well as the bullet fired vanishes unlike everything else.
is erased since the weapon goes away before Jumanji sucks everything that it summoned not what they also got during the period the game is being played
I cannot believe that their aunt was played by Lilith Sternin and I didn't realize until 20 years later.
You dont go waaa for nothing 😂
One of the funniest lines
The end of the game will always give me goosebumps when all the animals go back in the game and Van Pelt head on the game
It not fair
You lucky son of
Went back to the game
Classic my kids will love this when
I watch it as a kid and I love it it my childhood
Inside the title , there’s a man in Jumanji . The curse is being scared of growing up , this antidote is conquering fears from its powers , that’s how you become a man and a lot less than a child .
Anyone realize that the hunter was also Allen's father?
the hunter is the same actor as the father damn I just realized
5:13 Jumanji
3:00 How on earth did they get away with killing a kid in a family film?
We don't see her really dying.
She didn't die. Later she was casted for Spiderman.
It was the 1990s, it was a different time
HOY ABRIL SALE RAM PAM PAM A LAS 6 DE LA TARDE HORA MIAMI,

This is the real jumanji, not whatever the hell had the rock
Imagine what would've been on the last box if he landed a one
For this scene Robin I'm going to ask you to really get in the zone. It's going to be so cool, you're going to swing on a vine, snatch up a game from falling into the crumbling foundation below and yell "Its Jumanji time!" While a lion claws at you
...What, you think that'll compromise your career? What career again?
1995 I arrived
My father was passed away when I was 22years.
then, I couldn't live with him.
I remember him when I watch on Jumanji.
Judy little marie jane from the first spider man 😁
Out of all the animals in the world they had to put the most horrible ones (I'm talking about the spiders)
that's the point
I'm always confused by the ending. Alan and Sarah remember everything? They're now 40-year-olds in children's bodies?
Jamaji board game

Jumanji 1995 Alan Reaches The end Robin Williams Bonnie Hunt
That gun wasn't part of the game.
No but it was a part of a series of events that happened because of Jumanji so it got back to it's place. At least that's my theory 😅
The whole timeline got erased. Who cares about gun.
It’s an extension of the Van Pelt character. Even if it’s not his original gun it’s still a part of him.
It's a direct consequence of the game. Like the town's history.
I didn't see the crocodiles, pelicans or tarantulas get sucked back in the game.
We can see Van Pelt and Elephants, Rhinoceroes, Monkeys, Zebras and a lion are being sucked into the game. But we can't see the bats, spiders, flowers, crocodiles and mosquitoes.
A very heartbreaking production.
Too dark & sad.
some of the smartest and coolest people alive fuck up like this.
I want to see more of this in the world.
