Yeah they are the highlight of the show all matches U1200 is 50/50, and I was initially against this development in chess, now I see the value in it. Comedic , thrilling, and unexpected/unthinkable moves.

Absolute chess noob here, but why does the evaluation bar jump so much in White's favor? I can't seem to find the line that puts white ahead. I assume white is supposed to take the rook, but doesn't black just capture back with queen?
Nicholas Leahy I don't think there's anything specific, just that white was up a rook. Before white hung the rook the bar was just as high, then black didn't take so it went back to where it was.

@Carried _ yeah man, i play a good bit of fighting games and when people mash their head on the controller but their move didn't work, i told them about frame data, but they just didn't bother to listen to me. It hurts my soul.

i love how it starts with solid players and moves down the ladder. usually it's the other way around, but with chess.. yeah low rated player fiesta is top tier content.

10: Ng4 (+6.80): Even though the knight on d7 is guarded, it opens the f6-b2 diagonal for the queen, which can allow the queen to get very active with Qxb2.
9: Nd7 (+6.42): Similar to Ng4.
8: Nb3 (+6.29): By moving the knight away from the center, black can attack with the move g5 attacking both the knight and bishop. The only way to save both is to use danger levels with the move Ng4 attacking the queen. Ng4 is better than Nd7 because it guards over f6, preventing future pawn pushes.
7: Be8 (+5.97): The first guess Hikaru gave was actually the 7th worst move according to Stockfish. It blunders the bishop away, and the king can simply take it. What is super interesting however is that Stockfish believes the best follow up to Be8 is to sacrifice the knight with Nc3. This weakens the pawn structure on the queenside, and stops the Nxe4 threat, the best move in the original position.
6: Nf1 (+5.18): Similar to Nb3, the only difference is that it allows the queen to attack b2, because by playing Nb3 the queen can get trapped with the knight above b2 after Be5.
5: Nb1 (+4.69): Similar to Nf1
4: Bg5 (+4.54): Blunders the bishop, but White can still win it back by playing f4, trapping Black's knight.
3: Bg3 (+3.92): This move also blunders a bishop. The difference is that it is much harder to get back. After f4, black can play a6 attacking the bishop on the opposite side of the board. After the bishop moves, Black plays Bc5, attacking the weak e3 pawn. The only good way for White to defend is by playing Ng4, which yet again opens the diagonal for the queen. After the queen takes the pawn, however, you may take back the knight, but some counterplay with Black's pawns may occur.
2: Ng6 (+2.45): The worst move that doesn't lead to forced mate. It cleanly blunders a knight and after the queen takes it weakens the threat of Nxe4, but the move is still playable. After the knights trade, White can castle.
1: Bh6 (M-1): The worst move in the position, allowing the knight on e4 to defend the queen taking the pawn on f2 leading to checkmate.

As an 800 who's just starting out it's both comforting and horrifying to see how many blunders 1100-1200s make. Like, sure this means I don't have as much work as it first seemed to get to 1200, so that's nice. But apparently the gap from 1200 to ~1500 or 1600 is huge!
